of the Universe Magazine
UK. Issue #23, 1987.
Orko
the Magician
The comedy strip this time features Orko getting another
spell wrong, this time when trying to make some clock
hands move.
Feature
Story 1: "The Giant of Eternia, part 1"
Part one of a 2-part epic. Skeletor, Beast Man and Kobra
Khan break into the cottage of Jodder (as in issue #5),
the scientist who invented the serum that made He-Man
super-small. He has now invented a serum to make people
super-big. Skeletor intends to use the serum on himself,
but when he steals the serum, Jodder reaches out to
seize it, and accidentally knocks it over Kobra Khan,
who grows to giant size, crashing through the cottage
roof. Skeletor leads the giant Kobra Khan to Eternos,
where Khan paralyses the heroic warriors in a massive
spray mist. (Cont'd in part 2)
Master
Mail
This issue's letters page features one of the most commonly
asked (and therefore annoying) questions in the entire
history of MOTU: "is Zodac good or evil?"
Feature
Story 2: "The Giant of Eternia, part 2"
Kobra Khan has seized hold of He-Man, but He-Man just
manages to make him drop him, with a blast from the
Power Sword. Just then, Jodder arrives on the scene
and explains what happened. He explains that Khan can
only stay large when he is in contact with Eternia,
and off the ground he will return to normal size. So
He-Man lures Khan away from the Royal city, until they
reach a cliff edge, and He-Man knocks Khan over the
edge. He saves Khan before he hits the ground. Khan
calls He-Man a fool for saving him, but He-Man tells
Khan that HE is the fool, to value life so lightly.
He-Man goes back to the palace, where Jodder is asked
to stay at the city, as his woodland cottage is no longer
safe.
Feature
Story 3: "Secret Files of Scrollos, part 4"
The Evil Horde are profiled in this feature of Secret
Files. Catra, Scorpia and Shadow Weaver, who never appeared
in the MOTU stories in the comic, are profiled here
too.
(This
is a near-perfect issue..... almost no flaws.)
