story 1: "War against the Spiders"
He-Man finds a mind crystal that Man-At-Arms needs for
an experiment. He takes the crystal to Man-At-Arms'
lab in Viper Tower, where Man-At-Arms is using an enlargement
ray on a spider. But the experiment doesn't work, so
Man-At-Arms lets the spider free. The next day the spider
is found by Mantenna in the woods, and takes it to Hordak
so he can use it in an experiment. Hordak uses the spider
to test an invention that should increase the intelligence
of animals. But the experiment doesn't work, so Hordak
lets the spider free. The next day, Skeletor is fighting
against Stratos, and the spide crawls past the fight.
As it does so, it is hit by an energy bolt from Skeletor's
staff, and the effects of the two experiments conducted
on it start to increase its size and intelligence. The
giant spider scares Skeletor away, and Stratos attempts
to fight it, but is caught in its web. He transmits
a signal to Man-At-Arms, and Man-At-Arms and He-Man
set out on Jet Sleds to track down Stratos. Meanwhile,
the spider has dragged Stratos to a cave, where it has
called to all the other spiders in the area. Stratos
picks up some of the spider's thoughts, and finds that
it intends to build a new spider army that will rule
Eternia. He-Man and Man-At-Arms enter the cave and free
Stratos, who explains to them what is happening. When
they have left the cave, the giant spider starts to
build its own machine, which will make the smaller spiders
grow larger. Before long, it has a whole army of giant
spiders. The spiders emerge from the cave and attack
Buzz-Off, who goes and warns the other wariors at Viper
Tower. They begin a huge fight against the spiders.
But it doesn't take long for the spiders to overpower
them and trap them all in their webbing. But then, the
spiders all turn on their leader- the original giant
spider- and imprsion him in their webbing! He chews
himself free, but realises he stands no chance against
the other spiders, and the heroic warriors offer to
help him defeat the spider army. He chews the warriors
free, and they set about finding He-Man so he can find
a power source to blot out the mind control in the machine.
They find He-Man just as a horde of spiders marches
on Viper Tower, and they explain the story to He-Man.
He-Man takes the ex-leader of the spiders to show him
how the machine works. He puts the mind crystal in the
machine, and it cancels out the effects and shrinks
the spiders to normal size, decreasing their intelligence.
The ex-leader is then taken to Prison Star, but plans
to return someday and conquer Eternia.
