i am a 30 year old police officer, and have liked action figures for most of that time. i have gone through alot of different collections over the years and i wanted to relate my he-man story. i was about 12 years old when motu first came out. i remember i was 12 years old and it was summer and myself and my sisters had just got out of vacation bible school. afterwards my mom took us to a local toy store to pass some time. now i knew going in that store that i was not going to be able to get anything because my mom could really not afford it. that store alone holds alot of memories for me.(figures like clash of the titans, raiders of the lost ark and star wars.) Well i went in and walked immediatley to the action figure area. as a matter of fact that was the only area i ever went to unless i was looking for my mom to beg her for something. as i approached the figure area i saw a barbarian looking figure that caught my eye right from the start. at the time i was a big conan fan and thought this guy looked just like him except for the blonde hair. i remember picking up the figure and just staring at it, the weapons, the muscles the whole deal. up to that point i dont think i ever remember an action figure being that detailed and i thought it was awesome. well like i said i didnt have any money and my mom had already told me that i could not get anything so i did what any honest 12 year old kid would do...i hid it. I remember putting it in a frontal window display that would probably not be tampered with for awhile. i then started thinking of how i would be able to get the money. i think back then i got a couple of dollars every week for allowance and the figure was probably about 4 bucks back then. so i waited two weeks and my mom took me back with my 4 dollars in hand and the figure was still where i hid it! all of the other motu figures were sold out. when i took it up to the register i distinctly remember the cashier asking me where i had got the he-man figure because she said they hadnt had any for awhile. well i told her that i found it laying around somewhere. i then paid for the figure went out to the car and ripped it open, and started pretending he was conan with his battle axe and sword. i played with that figure all summer, and got beast man and skeletor for christmas. after awhile the newness wore off of them, and i probably put them down in search for some other collection, but those memories will last me a lifetime.
