The
new site is nearing completion.
Emiliano is going through and fine-tuning things now,
with the help of a Adora and MossMan710179.
That will be followed by a few weeks of beta testing
with some awesome fan volunteers.
When it's all said and done, the new site will be ready
to roll this fall.
We had hoped for this summer, but the site is so massive
that it's taking a bit longer.
And
with the site almost done, the fundraiser is nearing
its end.
Thanks to you, we've pushed the meter over the 75% mark.
We're hoping everyone out there who hasn't donated thus
far will consider making a small contribution towards
out goal.
We're almost there!
And
we have even more ways that you can donate!
Thanks to graphic designer Michael B Ryan
(aka SUPERHEMANMIKE) and Emiliano,
there are also the He-Man.org symbol shirts.
After Printfection expenses, every shirt sale results
in a 5.00 donation to He-Man.org's 2008 fund raiser. Click
here to check out these cool designs!
Plus,
based on requests, we have added a Tier 8 for you extremely
generous fans out there who must have discovered some long
lost buried treasure and want to share the wealth.
Tier
8:
Every 500.00 donation makes you an Ancient,
with the following badge shown under your username on the
forums:
You get all the benefits of Tiers 1 thru 7, along with:
a PM message limit of 500 messages
a
photo album with a limit of 500 photos
...and
whatever else we can think of in the future!
We're
also implementing a Priority First-Come-First-Serve system
for Tiers 4 and above.
Any time we have limited items for sale or free (not random)
give-aways, we will offer them first to Ancients, then Grayskull
Warriors, then Gold, Silver and finally Bronze Warriors. After
that, they will be made available to forum members first and
then everyone else (unless the quantity is in the thousands).
Just another small way to thank those of you who dug deep
to help support this site.
With
things in this fund drive nearing an end, it's time for some
overdue thanks. (And if anyone has been forgotten,
just smack JVS3 and remind him)
Special thanks to Adora who has spent a lot
of time helping organize things for us in this fundraiser.
Not to mention when she and her husband took time out of their
schedule to help pack up items from SDCC for the fans.
Special thanks to SUPERHEMANMIKE for his
generous design work on the symbol shirts.
Also, special thanks to Jukka for his creation
of the sword meter for this fund drive.
And of course, there's Emiliano. An ultimate
He-Fan who's also the giant cog wheel behind everything that
happens at He-man.org.
And most importantly, thanks again to everyone who has so
generously donated! We couldn't do this without your help!

La
La Land Records just recently put out an awesome new version
of the score from the 1987 live-action MOTU movie, which was
limited to 3000 copies.
We were all geared up to tell you about it, while we did a
little free-give-away promotion with them.
But they sold out in less than a month!
There are still a few copies available on Amazon,
and you can probably find it on eBay.
But,
La-La Land has expressed interest in doing a CD release of
the classic score from the Filmation MOTU cartoon.
The only thing is they aren't sure there is enough interest
to justify the pursuit.
Come on He-Fans and She-Ravers... surely if La-La Land can
sell 3000 copies of the live-action movie score, we all know
they can sell far more of the classic cartoon score that many
of us have wanted for years.
So tell them! Click
here to visit their Info section, and send and e-mail
to their management contact letting them know you want to
see the classic cartoon score released on CD!
As
far as our original free-give-away goes, congratulations to
the following 4 members of He-Man.org who won a free copy
of the live-action movie score!

Unemployed
Skeletor has some gigantic news! He's temporarily employed
at San Diego Comic Con, and in a huge way! Check out his video news update for more info!
He's
also shamelessly pandering the He-Man.org fundraiser. Of course,
Unemployed Skeletor can't be expected to keep up with the
news on a site named after his nemesis, so he didn't know
the raffles are over. But, we still love him! Click

Toyguru
has sent answers to your questions from WTFWTK 2.2!
1.
Since the MOTUC line is not supposed to have action-features,
what will be done for characters whose name was derived from
their action-feature? (eg: Extendar who's limbs extended,
Stinkor who smelled stinky, Blast Attack who blasted apart
into pieces, etc) It is unlikely we will add “stink” to
Stinkor, but we will try to replicate some action features
like giving Meckaneck extra snap on neck and head pieces to
simulate his vintage action feature.
2.
For any figures that might be in the MOTUC line that were
missing from the 2002 line, is it possible they will be sculpted/designed
in the 2002 style to help fans get figures never released
for that line? Or is the style seen on King Grayskull the
look of the entire MOTUC line? At this time, all of the MOTU Classics figures will
be in the same style. In the future we may go back and do
figures in the 2002 line style, but right now we are interested
in creating a brand new cohesive line look for all characters
in the Classics line. This look will be revealed at SDCC,
but you can get a good idea by checking out the first figure
in the line – King Grayskull!
3.
Do you know if Princess of Power figures in the MOTUC line
will have sculpted or rooted hair? All the figures in the MOTU Classics line will have
sculpted hair.
4.
Is it possible to work out a deal with Entertainment Rights
to allow for figures of Filmation characters that fans have
wanted for decades? (eg: Adora, Shadow Weaver, etc) At this time, Filmation only characters are not available
for the new MOTU Classics line. Adora however did appear in
Mattel’s vintage mini comics so she is available for
the new line, Shadow Weaver however is not. The main influence
for the new line will be the look of the original toys. For
characters like Adora, who did appear in the original mini
comics before appearing in the cartoon but did not have their
own toy the way Prince Adam did, would likely get an original
uniform designed by Mattel and the Horsemen. (Don't worry,
if and when we get to Adora we will do her right. This is
a collector line after all).
5.
Are sculpted environments a possible addition to be included
with figures? (like with Robocop or Lost figures) One of the many advantages of offering MOTUC through
our new online store is that we can change things up more
frequently. If there is enough demand from collectors we will
absolutely look into doing something like this.
6.
Much like the King Grayskull figure exclusive, will Mattel
offer the Volume 3 DVD exclusive outside of San Diego con,
or do we need to make plans to obtain one via another means? Unlike the King Grayskull figure, the DVD will not
be offered online. It is likely we will sell out at the show
and we do not have extra stock for sale post SDCC on the new
fan website. However, it is possible that BCI may put this
version out at a later time on there own. That will be up
to BCI. Maybe BCIguy will have a comment after the con depending
on sales.
***JVS3 edit: In the meantime,
Toy Guru & BCI have arranged for me to purchase a limited
quantity in SDCC for those who cannot attend. I will buy a
quantity based on the He-Man.org sales for the Best Buy Volume
1 slipcase exclusive, and will offer them on a first-come-first-serve
basis when I return from SDCC. Please wait until I post a
thread offering them. Please do not send me any PM or e-mail
requests. Thanks!
7.
Will accessories match the original classic colors, or will
they be changed to be more realistic? (like Prince Adam's
magenta sword, Faker's orange sword, etc) The colors will match the vintage release, the sculpting
and detail work will be all new.
8.
Are any of the 1980s concepts that never got released possible
in the MOTUC line? (like Hand-Some, Big-Foot, Dragon-Lord,
etc. Also others seen in Tomarts magazine years ago) These are possibilities down the road, but we have
a lot of other exciting characters we would like to get to
first.
9.
Any chance of a large scale line? (10", 12", etc)
Not immediately, but because this line is being distributed
exclusively through our new fan website, there is definitely
the possibility of adding other scales in the future.
10.
Is there any chance for web'toons or web'isodes to create
some sort of entertainment for the MOTUC line while furthering
the mythos? Not in the immediate future, but anything is possible!
Also,
some fans thought toys would be coming to stores, and were
surprised by the online-store-only approach.
Toyguru posted this comment in
this thread to help clear up any confusion: "For the record, the new MOTU Classics line
was designed from Day 1 to be exclusive to our new fan website.
When we announced new MOTU figures would be coming to toy
shelves this fall, we meant collector's toy shelves. As in
the toy shelf that you keep you new MOTU figures on at home.
If fans misunderstood this comment I appologise, but to make
things clear, there will be one figure per month available
only on the new fan website. This has always been the plan!"
We
here at He-Man.org can vouch for that. We've known that's
what Toyguru meant for a very long time, and we had to wait
for him to clarify when the time was right. So, now you know!

Toyguru
has sent along answers to Round 1 of the He-Fan Q&A!
Check out what he had to say below, and click
here to participate in the next round of questions!
1.
Any chance of exclusives through He-Man.org, AFX, and/or other
sites/retailers? This is something we are looking into. We’ll
be announcing distribution at San Diego Comic Con and we’ll
be addressing concepts like this at our Fan Panel.
2. Will the figure bios be classic toy/mini-comic canon,
MYP canon, or a mixture of the 2 in some new type of MOTUC
canon? They will be a mixture of Classic Mini Comics
and MYP canon with a few extras thrown in to help kick off
the direction and future character selection of the new MOTU
Classics line. While the bios will help to establish continuity,
we also want to use them as a vehicle to help push the line
into new areas of the MOTU world that can be explored.
3. Will there be a licensing program in conjunction with
the MOTUC line? There are many possibilities for licensed product.
We may announce some at SDCC this summer.
4. Are there any foreseeable character name trademark/copyright
problems like with some of the characters in the 2002 toy
line? This is a touchy question to answer off the cuff
because legal copyright issues come and go. We will do our
best to keep fan’s up-to-date on the latest in character
selection and naming conventions.
5.
Will figures have their signature "tag-line" attached?
("Evil Lord of Destruction", "Most Powerful
Man in the Universe", "Warrior Goddess") Absolutely. All of the toy designers working
on this line are huge MOTU fans and this was a detail we didn’t
want to leave out.
6. Is there a possibility for the release of Fearless
Photog, the winning entry in the design a figure contest back
in the 80s? For the launch we will be concentrating on characters
who had toys in the 1980s or were in the 200X series. Photog
may be on the back burner for a while. If there continues
to be increased fan demand we will look into the feasibility
of this character.
7. Since he was said to be considered for the MOTUC line,
has anything been uncovered in regards to the Savage He-Man
originally thought to be from Wonder Bread? At this point we have not discovered information
that can collaborate this promotion. ToyFare ran an article
that uncovered no additional details. We also contacted the
parent company of Wonder Bread and turned up nothing. If there
are fans out there with any positive proof of a mail away
Savage He-Man figure, Mattel would love to know! For the time
being, our opinion is that this is some type of bootleg figure.
But, since it is derived from MOTU, that doesn't mean we couldn't
tackle this design look in the new MOTU Classics line if there
is enough fan support.
8. Will He-Man once again have his classic cross symbol,
or will it continue to feature the 2002 asterisk symbol? He will have the classic cross.
9. Will King Grayskull be made available to fans outside
of SDCC, or should fans be making arrangements for people
to pick up extras at the show? (please help us avoid high
eBay prices!) If we do not sell out at the show we will find
a way to make the remaining stock available through a reputable
online store. But the plan right now is to sell out at the
show. ***JVS3 edit: Please
click here for info on arranging a purchase of King Grayskull
via another fan or possibly via me.
10.
Is that MOTUC logo we saw at New York the final logo design? A few changes have been made. Here is the final
logo.

With
the fan Q&A with Mattel underway, Toyguru has sent some
important updates about the Masters of the Universe Collector's
Line (MOTUC):
"Before
we jump into the Q&A, after reading through the questions
posted on the site already, here is some information that
might clear up a lot of inquires.
And we want a lot of info about MOTUC to break here first!
The
first figure in the line will be King Grayskull. His packaging
is unique for Comic Con and folds out into a giant Castle
Grayskull playset with lights and sounds. When you open the
front jaw bridge, Grayskull is inside and yells "I have
the Power" followed by flashes of blue energy and the
sound of thunder. It is really amazing. We hope to have a
demonstration up on Youtube as soon as we have a final product.
He
will be 30.00 at the show.
There is no limit (but if someone wants like 10 cases we might
have to talk).
There will be a variant of Grayskull as a statue.
With few exceptions (such as Barbie collector items) Mattel
does not release productions runs of its toys. Sorry about
that.
The
standard figures will come on a blister card which will have
many hints taken from the original 1980s line. The packaging
will include a cross sell (AKA: images of other toys in the
wave/line), bios and original classic package/mini comic art
on the back.
The
figures will not initially come with mini comics. We are looking
into the logistics of adding these. If the line takes off
and does well you can bet this will be one of the first upgrades
we will try to include.
MOTUC
will first and foremost include characters that had a toy
in the 1980s (including the POP and NA lines). We will also
be looking at the “200X” series for inspiration
as well. All characters will be released under one MOTUC brand.
Due
to legal restraints, we will not be doing characters that
only appeared in the Filmation cartoon series.
We are aware of a few loopholes with European comics, but
pretty much for a Filmation character to be in the MOTUC line
it will have had to of also been in the 200X toy line or MYP
cartoon (i.e. Count Marzo, Evilseed, etc…)
For
the most part, the characters will be 6 inches (well, Grayskull
is a bit bigger). The line will pay homage to the original
1980s line in many ways including the sharing of parts. For
example, Stratos and Beastman both used a “fury”
body in the vintage line, therefore they will here as well.
Figures
will include the same weapons as their 80’s counterparts.
Check out Grayskull’s sword and shield for an example.
Oh, and everyone who had furry shorts gets furry shorts. It
can’t be a MOTU Classics line without the furry shorts.
The
line will start off with the main roster of characters but
we will absolutely be branching out. By the end of the first
year we hope to get to include characters not made in the
200X line (including the staction line) as well as at least
one character never before done as a toy.
All
of this however, (including the eventual inclusion of vehicles
and playsets) depends on how the line performs.
We cannot answer questions about price points; distribution
or case packs yet because this is not locked down. (just as
we could not announce new JLU figures until Target signed
up for the program).
We will for certainty be announcing all of this at San Diego
Comic Con at a fan panel. (and yes, we know how important
international distribution is on this line and we are working
on it)
Things
like fan choice polls, a collector site and other programs
are all things we are looking into and hopefully will happen
in time. Right now we have to gauge how well the line performs.
But if fan reaction so far is any indication, this new MOTUC
line is destined to become a definitive part of any true MOTU
collection!"
SDCC
2008 is fast approaching, along with your chance to pick
up the King Grayskull exclusive at the con.
Mattel has sent along a preview image of the chase "statue
King Grayskull" that will be randomly found in the con
exclusives.
We have no idea how limited the chase is, or even how limited
the King Grayskull exclusive is.
But now is your chance to find out in a Q&A with Mattel

Possible
movie news?
IESB.net reports some potential news. Click
here to see the article.
The snippit about He-Man goes on to say:
"The
fourth film we are hearing buzz from is HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS
OF THE UNIVERSE also written by Justin Marks who wrote Green
Arrow/Super Max for WB.
With
the success of Transformers, WB has been hoping to cash in
on the 80's cartoon revival. I've been told the script is
in good shape and, prior to Speed Racer opening, Joel Silver
who produced Speed and is also producing MOTU was hoping to
get the "go ahead" from the studio with a late '09
release date.
I
don't know how, or if, the disastrous box office performance
of Speed Racer has in any way effected WB's plans for the
big screen adaptation of the 80's cartoon but with rival studios
like Paramount releasing Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe in '09,
it's getting crowded and time is running out for the Burbank
Studio."

UPDATED!
The
Mattel panel was held today at NYCC, from 2pm to 3pm EST.
A Q&A with fans was held, which we'll have the result
for later this weekend.
But in the mean time, say hello to the major announcement!
At
long last, the original most powerful man in the universe
is coming to toy shelves as a 2008
San Diego Comic Con exclusive!
King Grayskull is the inaugural MOTU figure to feature
super articulation and classic detail sculpting by the Four
Horsemen.
Grayskull comes in a brand new package featuring lights and
sounds which transforms into a mini Castle Grayskull playset.
A variant chase version shows Grayskull as a “statue”
as Prince Adam first encountered him.
Also includes three accessories.
A must have for any complete MOTU action figure collection.
Looks
like NYCC is a great start to more news that will follow at
SDCC 2008 this July!
Greg
(Sword-of-Grayskull) has been at the NYCC taking
notes for all of us who can't be there.
Here's a quick recap of the details revealed during a slideshow
at the panel:
The
line will be a 6" Masters of the Universe collector's
line
The line will be super-poseable, using high-end articulation
It will be comparable to the DC Universe line that is currently
being produced by Mattel and sculpted by the 4H
Mattel stated this line is definitely going to be for the
collectors, and not for children
They will be shipped in even case ratios. Mattel said "You
are not going to see six Skeletors and one Beastman"
The first figure in the line will be King Grayskull, who
will be a SDCC Exclusive.
King Grayskull will have a chase variant that is colored
to look like the statue of King Grayskull seen by Adam from
the MYP Power of Grayskull episode
This collector's line will contain "the entire pantheon
of MOTU characters", which will include characters
from the classic MOTU toy line, the New Adventures of He-Man,
MYP cartoon characters, characters from the mini-comics
(a photo of the Green Goddess was flashed), characters from
the unproduced Powers of Grayskull line (a photo of He-Ro
was flashed), and POP characters (a screengrab of Force
Captain Adora from SOTS was flashed)
Next
the fan Q&A began.
1.
Mattel was asked about their plans for retail distribution. They said they were not ready to reveal that yet, but
it will be revealed at SDCC, and "it will have better
distribution than any Mattel toy line before."
2.
They were asked about the asterisk symbol on King Grayskull;
if a cross variation would be produced. Cornboy said "You'll just have to wait and see"
and Scott Neitlich from Mattel added "The whole idea
is to make you guys happy. This is for the fans."
3.
They were asked about the possibility of a Titus or Megator
giant figure. Scott said "It's definitely being though about.
It depends on the success of the first two waves."
4.
They were then asked if there might be a Queen Marlena. Scott replied stating that since she appeared in a mini-comic
before she appeared in Filmation, that they have the rights
to produce her.
5.
They were asked about playsets, vehicles and creatures. Scott remarked, much like with Titus and Megator that
"It depends on the success of the first two waves."
6.
Mattel was asked about the status of a movie line of toys. They said they are not ready to comment on that yet,
but that "this line will be separate from the movie."
7.
A fan asked about a Keldor figure. Mattel said that it was definitely a possibility.
8.
They were asked if these collector figures would have action-features. Scott said "There will be not action-features,
but there may be snap-on parts to indicate the original
action features."
He then used Mekaneck as an example, talking about having
a replacement head with a long extended neck.
Eric Treadaway then said they wanted to get the feel of
having a big action-figure in your hands. Specifically,
"The chunky feel of the old toy line."
9.
The dastardly Unemployed Skeletor asked if he would once
again have a job. Scott said that "Yes, you will have a job again."
10. US then asked if he would be in the first wave of figures. Scott replied that he would be in the first couple of
waves.
11.
The last question was if Mattel could collect the original
mini-comics as a trade paperback. Mattel said it was something they just talked about,
and something they would like to do, but have no plans for
at this time.
At
4:30pm, Greg had a private Q&A with Scott Neitlich, asking
a number of questions from fans here at He-Man.org.
12.
Greg asked about the comparison to the DC Universe line,
and if we might count on a Collect'N'Connect approach (build
a figure). Scott said it's "definitely an option" and
that it depends on the success of the first few waves.
Scott went on to say that "If you support it, the sky's
the limit."
13.
Greg asked for verification on She-Ra, as that came as a
surprise. Scott said the line will definitely have POP characters.
We're unsure at this time if Mattel meant they will just
be based on POP toys, or include Filmation characters. We'll
clarify at a later date.
14.
Greg then asked if the color schemes for the toys would
be based on the classic toys, or versions that appeared
in the mini-comics. Scott said that "different color schemes can be
variants or chase variants."
15.
Greg asked about distribution outside of the USA. Scott said that he couldn't comment until SDCC.
16.
Greg also asked if Teela would come with her snake armor
like the toy. Scott replied saying "She will definitely come
with the classic snake armor, and it will be removable."
17.
Greg inquired about plans for the MOTU Collector's Club. Scott said it's "definitely on the table"
and that it was "something that will be talked about
at SDCC."
18.
Greg wanted to know if the line would be sold at Mattel
outlet stores. Scott noted that he couldn't comment on any distribution
until SDCC.
19.
Greg asked for clarification on classic characters; could
they also do classic Filmaton characters such as Lizard
Man? Scott said they could not do Lizard Man. Mattel does
not have the rights to do any Filmation characters that
were not classic toys as well, or unless they appeared in
the mini-comics before the Filmation cartoon series.
20.
Greg then asked about a video game tie-in. Scott said it was something Mattel was interested in.
21.
Greg was curious if Emiliano Santalucia or Val Staples would
be used as consultants. Scott replied that "While Val and Emiliano aren't
involved in an official capacity, we are getting a lot of
fan input and we are reading the message boards."
22.
Greg then wanted to know why Savage He-Man was on display.
Did they have any answers on the mystery of this figure? Scott said that the figure was a potential for a deco
variant later on in the line.
How Savage He-Man's was originally offered still remains
a mystery.
23.
Greg closed things up by asking about the status of the
mini-statue line. Scott replied that it would be phased out and replaced
by the MOTU Collector's line.
Greg
went by the booth and made some visual observations of the
King Grayskull figure and its packaging:
His shield snaps on, and has two sets of prongs to clip
to the forearm.
It comes with a classic style axe and powersword.
The case is made of plastic. When assembled it forms Castle
Grayskull, that comes with a lowering jawbridge with an
interior space to place the figure.
