At the Royal Palace, King Randor, Queen Marlena, Man-At-Arms, and Teela wait for Prince Adam. Ambassador Therin from the kingdom of Eastfen enters. Man-At-Arms realizes that Therin is in fact Skeletor, and grabs a gift presented to the king. Man-At-Arms becomes a crystalline statue. Skeletor decides to leave, as Teela despairs at what to do with her father. At Grayskull the Sorceress suggests that Granamyr, oldest and wisest of the dragons of Darksmoke, might know the answer. In the Royal Library He-Man opens a map and deduces that Granamyr lives in the Ice Mountains. After a crashlanding, avalanche and brief battle with some Ice Hackers and trolls, He-Man, Teela and Battle Cat awaken Granamyr in his home of Darksmoke. Granamyr tells He-Man and Teela to go to the Forgotten Forest and cut down Skytree as a gift. The heroes find Skytree, who offers himself to them. He-Man prepares his sword, but stops and says they cannot do it. Granamyr is impressed with He-Man's wisdom and accepts his "gift," the gift of life.
