In early 2020, Sonic Drive-In partnered with Mattel and DreamWorks for a She-Ra and the Princesses of Power fast food tie-in promotion. Starting March 2nd, 2020, Sonic offered multiple products from the DreamWorks reboot in their Wacky Pack kids meals. From release date to late March/early April, customers could get a variety of merchandise from action figures to little things to put on straws to magnets.
Each She-Ra and the Princesses of Power Wacky Pack kids meal came with one of the seven toys (an action figure, Straw Buddy, or inflatable sword) and a pack of three magnets.
Action Figures
With very limited poseability, each action figure came in a clear plastic bag which also contained necessary accessories for some, a promotional slip with one side featuring the other merchandise to collect, and a detailed illustration of what the customer had received in their Wacky Pack meal.
Inflatable Sword
The Inflatable Sword was a blow-up toy depicting She-Ra’s legendary First One weapon as seen from seasons one to four. The sword also came with a promotional slip with one side featuring the other merchandise to collect, and a detailed illustration of what the customer had received in their Wacky Pack meal.
Straw Buddies
Straw Buddies were smaller trinket-type toys made with the intention of to be put on the customer’s soft drink straw as if they were hanging on to it, and then taken back home for future use. Straw Buddies were not poseable and came in bags depicting characters and scenes from the show before being opened with nothing else but the toy inside.
Magnets
The magnets depicted multiple characters in different environments, usually reusing stock promo art of the characters commonly seen in other merchandise and promotional material for the show. The magnets measured 2.375 × 2.75 inches and customers were given three per meal purchase in a thin blind bag depicting characters from the show they could collect.
