I'm very discouraged because I got in the Mattel line as quickly as I could on Prev Night (ten minutes before 6 even), and not only did I not get the book but didn't even get to buy anything. The line did not move for an hour. I started to look at the Mattel logo as a blood splatter! I finally got to the edge of the roped off area of the line, but by then 9 came and they gave out tickets for 1 2 on Friday. If I didn't want the book, that'd be great, but the book will sell out by then! The answer I feared the whole night came "you are free to get in line tomorrow." [email protected]#*, how reasonable! The people working Mattel's booth look way understaffed, and when I passed the door to the booth I could feel the heat from inside so that had to be as uncomfortable for them as for me. Mattel should take care of all of us better than that.

Thanks for the encouragement! I heard about the line capping too, but it was loooooong even at 10 minutes to 9. I don't think people realized how slowly it moved. One guy said last year was a breeze for him. We almost started a drinking game for all the times people asked us about what line we were in (and how often we got a roll of the eyes or dismissive wave when we told them).Quote:

After spending way too much time and grief trying to get this (Mattel you suck at managing lines at cons, how many years do you haqve to fail at this until you get it through your head that your system is not fair at all) I am completely underwhelmed by this book. It's a shame this cost $50, it could have at least came as a hardcover to somewhat justify the cost. Very little new or unknown in the book from what I could see (other than the future section). If this was $20 or even $30 that'd be more reasonable.
He-Ro is amazing though, definately a hit by Mattel. Best exclusive I got at the con.

Well everything sold out today before 11am. They capped the line and then sold tickets for the next day early am. Sad thing is they did not announce this and I missed out. I personally saw two people with art books. One was holding 8 and the other 12!! I heard people in line at Hasbro talking about previews night and let me tell you there was no limit:hmmad:
What kind of binding does this book have? Just curious...spiral? normal paperback binding. Librarians want to know :tewink:
Paperback binding. No spiral. I don't know much more about binding that that.

You know, the more I read about this book, the more I feel relieved I didn't pony up $50 for it. I've bought hardcover artbooks from artists like Frazetta with more pages, more art, and more text and information than the 'artbook' for MOTU, and they weren't even that much more expensive.
Really, Matty is just milking the cashcow and abusing our good faith and fan-love for MOTU.
This is the worst experience I've had with getting a MOTU exclusive. I don't understand WHY they changed the system from last year. It wasn't perfect, but at least there wasn't any "capping." It was only 15 minutes AFTER the doors open and the lines were closed.
I'm going to let out all my frustration tomorrow IF I don't get a figure. I can understand the art book selling out with there only being 1000 copies, but I am going to be ****** if I don't get a He-Ro. I've been able to get every SDCC MOTU exclusive since the brand relaunched (including the 15 inch statue and the elusive He-Man variant) and I'll be damned if I leave empty handed.
Looks like a lot of people did not get a Hero as they are not up on Ebay. You should have no problem the last couple days of the con.
