New KING RANDOR: Heroic Ruler of Eternia!

If anyone saw my first RANDOR, you may notice some differences in this one. If you didn't see him, here's the link: http://www.he-man.org/forums/boards/...ghlight=randor

    Now here's the new one:

    Ready for battle!

Most of this is the same as what I did for my first RANDOR, but for anyone who's curious, here's the process I used for the new RANDOR:

    ARMOR

I didn't like that BATTLE SOUNDS HE MAN looked like he was about to go skydiving, so I trimmed his giant backpack down. I split the upper body at the seams and removed the electronics (which I plan to add to my SORCERESS' Magic Toilet), and cut out the bottom half of his back armor. I also disabled the 'Twist Waist and Power Punch' feature so he would be more poseable. I used MAGIC SCULPT (sturdier than Sculpey) to cover the hole in the back, and I sculpted a little detail in it so it would look right. Then I glued it back together. I couldn't find paint that matched the BS super shiny GOLD, so I painted it all CHROME and went over it with CLEAR YELLOW.

    ARMS AND LEGS

I used MAGIC SCULPT to add the sleeves, and I had to make sure that it wouldn't interfere with the movement, so I dyed the shoulders BURGUNDY and painted the GOLD trim. The knee brace and left gauntlet are MAGIC SCULPT painted METALLIC BLACK and METALLIC BLUE. I sanded the boots smooth and painted them BROWN. I carved a few wrinkles at the back of the knee and dyed then painted them GRAY to make it look like he's wearing tights.

    LOINCLOTH, CAPE AND ACCESSORIES

I cut away the rest of the loincloth, leaving only the belt, and added a liquid latex soaked, BURGUNDY dyed piece of fabric to make the 'skirt.' I added a GOLD ribbon around the bottom for the trim. The cape was made from a WHITE piece of fabric, but I had to tint the latex to get it to come out WHITE (latex dries BOOGER YELLOW). Old t-shirts work great, but whatever you use, remember the thinner the better (thick stuff looks like doll clothes); I'd like to try silk sometime. After I dipped the cape in the latex, I draped it on the figure, placed the shoulder fur over it, and let it dry. I wanted the sword to look like the one he wielded as CAPTAIN RANDOR. I chopped some of the hilt off of his sword and filled in the cross with MAGIC SCULPT (I may replace this with a fake gem). I painted it METALLIC BLACK and METALLIC BLUE to match his knee brace and gauntlet. The spear was DISCO SKELETOR's Havoc Staff with the head popped off.

    HEAD

I cut away some of the hair in the front, because RANDOR parts his hair in the middle. The beard is MAGIC SCULPT detailed to match the HORSEMEN's style. I finished with BROWN paint and a lighter shade drybrushed over it.

    FINISHING TOUCHES

A DARK GRAY wash defines the legs. DARK GOLD wash brings out the detail on the armor and trim. A gloss clear coat protects the armor while a matte clear coat protects the rest.

There you have it! This figure is COMPLETELY PLAYABLE due to the durable MAGIC SCULPT, flexible latexed fabric, and the fact that the shoulders are dyed (no paint to scrape off). I hope this helps some newbies.

You can get CLEAR YELLOW acrylic paint at most hobby shops. Follow that up with a GLOSS SEALER and you're set.

Oh yeah, and if you want to get rid of that ORANGE "H," use some PAINT THINNER on a Q-tip. Have some water ready to wipe it down after each pass. The whole thing is CHROME underneath the paint. Be careful, though; leave it on too long or use too much pressure and you'll rub off the CHROME too.

I'll post my recipe and some more pics later.

tiny picture. nice looking custom. If you want fire the orignal picture my way I'll blow it up or whatever and get it a least twice as large as that one. Just finishing a New randor of my own. Might have to steal that twist band alteration of yours, LOOKS SNAZZY!

I fixed that tiny picture problem, and I added another. I know everyone's sick of looking at RANDORs, but if you're one of those who doesn't have one (and doesn't have the ability to make one) PM me and I can make one for you.

Woo Hoo!!! You fixed the pictures! Thats is some nice painting buddy, even the veins of his arms nice touch. Big picture big difference. It's offical I'm gonna put that arm band on mine too. Is the skirt sculpey flex and movable or is it felt it kinda looks solid like the legs can't move anymore.

Nice custom hope you get alot more replies from people seeing as how the custom forums are dwindling lately around here.

Great work, now all he needs is that bad-ass retractable shield from the Beginning.

Do any of you make those for other people? If so how much scratch does that cost a person. Unbelievably good work man!!!
