Secret of the Sword is already officially available on DVD. The German release has an uncut USA version that is FANTASTIC!!!

If anyone wants SOTS on DVD I suggest going to Amazon Germany and order it. However, you do need a region free DVD player to play it.

We should find the emails and contact for these people and flood them with emails on what the 10 BEST episodes are, so they will get it right!

I will literally vomit if I see an episode like "The Greatest Show on Eternia" show up among the "TOP 10 BEST" DVD.

Un-frickin-believable! This is fantastic news! I can't believe we finally have confirmation for a release and when it will be! On top of that, New Adventures too!?!? Awesome. Absolutely awesome.

I just hope and PRAY that the artwork and packaging will be cool!

I want to see something similar to what the French DVD releases are like. The French She-Ra boxsets are absolutely beautiful! I hope these people take a cue from them and do a nice job!

I'm pretty sure this DVD is about the cartoon.

Although I'm gonna be annoying and say I reeeally hope they release She-Ra evntually...very cool. Honeslty, I think I'm happiest that Val got hired. Perhaps he'll soon be able to take down the "poor He-Man" avatar.

For the artwork on these DVD's it would be great to see either some of PigBoy's work - like on a cardboard sleeve that is embossed or something.

Or - Some classic shots from the cartoon artwork - again embossed or something special looking.

Looking over the rest of the BCI library releases though - I very much doubt that we are going to see anything really spectacular as far as packaging goes.

This is the best news I've heard in a LONG time. I cannot wait for these DVDs to make it out on the market!

And the best part? Val is involved. It sure seems like BCI is going all out to deliver what many have wanted for so long, and in the way we want.

Now Val, I know you probably can't spill many (if any) details, but can you say yet whether the season sets will be in chronological order or production order? If it matters, the Chicago Horde would love chronological order.....

But then again, all Jimmy wants is to have Stinkor grace the full cover....

I've already got Star Trek TOS on DVD...

I've got most of Roswell on DVD...

Working on MacGyve on DVDr...

But this will be the crown jewel of my DVD collection. I simply cannot wait that long for these discs.

Now THIS is some very welcome news in my life.

I'm ready to have my absolute favorite episode of all time, Into the Abyss on DVD at long last(followed by The Problem With Power).

I probably missed it somewhere, but I'll say it anyway. I just hope She-Ra will be released as well. Some of He-Man's crossovers, Sweet Bee's Home, The Price of Freedom & Loo-Kee Lends A Hand, are just great.

Well, now I have Thundercats AND He-Man coming out this year...I just hope JEM Season 3 Part 2 will make it out soon!

That's great news!! And we actually have a solid release date for the first set, July! Releasing the 10-episode disk is a great idea for several reasons:
1. It'll help tide us over for the box sets.
2. By making available in time for the cons, it should help raise awareness and anticipation of the series' DVD release among less hardcore MOTU fans.
It's probably a pretty safe bet that the episodes that were released with the 2002 figures will be on the "Best-of" disks, since those were chosen due to their fan-favorite status. The fact that they're not skimping on the extras is great. More than anything, I want classic toy commercials on these disks. Too bad that probably won't happen. Either way, I will buy these DVDs like my life depends on it. This is the best DVD news since WB started releasing the bos sets of Batman: The Animated Series.

This is wonderful news. I hope that Busta will be able to lend a hand with the extras. There´s plenty of stuff to see, I´m sure.

Any word on when the official "best 10"-episodes list will be shown to public?

I have a sneaky suspicion that these DVDs just may be better than the UK releases...

I only found out last night that I won't be doing the covers. So I'm a bit bummed.
But if yer gonna loose out on a contract, it may aswell be MVC.

I just have one problem with all this news.

Knowing that the full seasons are coming out, why would I buy a 'ten best episodes' 2-disc set? Just because it's He-Man? I had the same problem with Batman: The Animated Series. I'm afraid I'm just gonna have to wait until the sets come out.

Unless the '10 best' discs has something extra special that won't be on the season sets...like an exclusive figure or something???

I assume, the "Best Of" Set is supposed to focus primarily on those, who don't want the entire cartoon or a full season, but would like to have a few episodes they loved in childhood.

I got a press release about this in my E-mail this AM. My first thought: huh?? Is someone yankin' my leg? Who is this person? So of course I came here for confirmation.

This is definitely good news. I think I'll pass on the "best of" DVDs, as my opinion re "best" and others' is very likely to be quite different. The season sets, however, shall be mine!

I'm definitely getting the "best-of" release. If it were any other show (except He-Man and hopefully eventually She-Ra), I'd pass on such a best-of compilation, but I'm going to support the series in every way I can. Yeah, I'll be duplicating episodes I'll be getting later on (hopefully), but the way I see it, a 2-disc best-of set isn't going to cost that much, anyway...maybe $20, and heck, I spend more than that on soft drinks each month, so why not support something I love? Plus, I get all of the best episodes in one place.

But I do wonder...are they going to poll the fans to see which episodes wind up on the best of? Because to me, there are the obvious choices (The Problem with Power, Teela's Quest, Into the Abyss) and some less obvious choices (The Rainbow Warrior, Teela's Triumph, Diamond Ray of Disappearance, To Save Skeletor, The Wizard of Stone Mountain, Origin of the Sorceress, and The Dragon's Gift, to name a few).

I totally agree - it is the same thing they did with Fat Albert.

There is the release for the casual fan that doesn't want to spend the big bucks and then the box sets or larger sets for those that don't mind spending the money to get the real collection!

By the way: Pig Boy - loved your artwork earlier in the post.

My guess would be that they stick with some old cell artwork to bring back that nostalgia for people browsing the DVD section at their local store to view.

i definately can't wait for them to come out.
