He-Con 2006 Poll. Would you go?

Quite a few of you have read my thread on a Masters of the Universe convention, here, and know that I'm actually trying to get one started. I'd like to hold the first one here in my hometown of Wichita, KS, mainly because I am going to try to foot some of the bill if I can, and because it is a very central location in the continental US. I'd like to know how much interest there is in a Midwest MOTU-Con. Take the time to vote on the poll.

I would think I would go, but it would depend on a lot of things...

I would prefer it to be on the east coast myself. However, a midwest or west convention I would still consider going to. Mainly, date, time, and place are all factors that would have to be reached, even if on the east coast, for me to decide to go. Plus, we would need pleanty of warning time.

Another point is who would be there. Voice actors, former writers/producers, et cetera. Who the vendors are does not really concern me, since you can mainly get what you want on eBay. The draw is who from He-man & She-Ra will be there.

If the main thing is just for He-man fans to come together, buy merchandise, and watch Secret of the Sword, that type of stuff can already be done at places like SDCC and Chicago.

Trust is also a big thing. It would have to be run by someone we can trust, etc. I remember back in the day there was the "The 80s and More" convention or something that had a pretty rocky start (and finish?). I wouldn't want it ending up like that.

I would love to go, but only if it was around the midwest. I would love a show in Chicago, or somewhere near.

I voted No, but I'd support.

I'm in NC, but I don't have the money to go to Cons unless they're super close, and even then I have to live with being broke for a few weeks until and after, and while there, I can only look at things in the marketplace, without buying and live on bologne and cheese sandwiches.

I would love to attend a He-Man convention, if for no other reason, then to meet all the wonderful people from the boards here at the org. However, things would have to fall into place financially for me to be able to attend such a thing. I would definitely support the idea, but as I said before, attendance would be a financial issue.

Idea is awesome. A few years ago I brought this up and thought about having it in or around Lynchburg, VA when MVCreations was up and running. Few people responded, but nothing ever came of it. I'd be willing to go out for it, no matter where it's at. I'm game.

I would go no matter where it is held, as long as it's in North America, I've been waiting for something like this for so long, being a huge He-Man fan and all that I would go even if it was held in Juneau.

I thought about trying to do this in Las Vegas a while back, but I asked JVS3 for his experty opinion, and he pretty much said that it would be really expensive, and you'd lose money. Other than that I think it's a great idea.

Hmm, only 34 votes so far.

I've talked to two potential backers for it. Both are interested, IF I can generate enough interest from fans.

Held in U.S.: No. But would show support.
Held somewhere in Europe: Would at least seriously think about attending.

Yep, I would go. It would be easier for me to make it since I am right here in Indiana. All i would need is lots of advance warning and planning.

From the way people talk on here, I was sure there'd be a lot more interest in this. I mean, come on, even Jem is having a convention. Where are all the .Orgers who use to hope and pray for a MOTU convention?

Keep in mind the Jem convention only had about 50 people in attendance, and no guests, if there are going to be guests, there has to be a lot of more people buying tickets.

A He-man convention would be awesome, or a convention for 1980's toys/cartoons. It might be a more practical way to draw enough fans and interest to afford bringing in a lot of cool guests.

I think it would be easier for us fans just to go to a room in vegas or go on a cruise or get a hotel room or something. That seems more doable.

But I agree I like the idea of 80s cartoons all rolled up in one because many of us have different interests besides MOTU.

I think it would be a bad idea, just not enough support and who ever put it on would without a doubt lose money.

It depends. I'd say 100% yes if it were in New England. The farther away it gets from that my percentage goes down. Of course this all depends on my mood, I might do anything if bored enough.

I'd definitely give it a lot of thought. There are a few things I'd have to consider. For example, Carlo scares me.
