UK Fan Club

I don't think this has been mentioned on this site before, but between 1983 and 1986 I was, as a kid, a member of this postal club. The Scrolls of Eternia was the name of the newsletter, there were free gifts - an invisible-ink print of Tuska-drawn Eternian monsters sticks in the head as does a rather nifty scratch-off Advent Calendar. There were also proofs of purchase and a seeming obsession with teh Arndale Centre in Manchester - the club arranged a He-Man lookalike to turn up there once or twice I think.
Anyone have more detailed memories of this/can give a link to other information on it?

I need a pic of that advent calendar!!! I was a member and it offered some great stuff - including free figures if you recommended a friend. It was like a pre-net Matty. A very cool club - and Doctor Who writer Mark Gatiss wrote some of the scrolls of Eternia I believe!

I was not a member of the British club, but in Germany we had also a Masters club called "Masters Abenteuer Club" (Masters Adventure Club) or simply MAC.

Regarding the British club... in nearly every issue of the UK Comic Magazine from London Editions there was the application form for joinging this club:

In Spain there was one he-man club as well and offered presents, 3 a year if I remember well, to the members. I didnt have the chance to join it but I had to be amazing!!!

Seems that MOTU clubs were all over the world.
There was one in Serbia as well.

I applied to the club, I remember getting a letter from the club saying that it was closing. Wish I had kept the letter or at least applied to it eariler.

Okay, so I remember joining up to the UK MOTU fan club back in the 80's that was advertised on the back of many of the UK MOTU comics -



It would have been in the late 80's, and I remember getting the record with the Beast-Man song on it..as well as a few other things...

but...

I also remember getting my own unique "Eternian name" (see above image for info)...and that name was-

KEYLON

now, I'm not sure if it came with any info about where the name KEYLON came from, but I always thought it was supposed to be a type of comet creature, with connections to the rock warriors Rokkon and Stonedar. I don't know if I made the connection myself, or if it was described anywhere....but I wonder if anyone else who joined in the UK remembers their Eternian name?

I was reminded of this just now when watching an episode of the New Adventures series, that had a comet creature in it called KEYTAR (or something), and it brought back the memory!

With Mendoc just rejoining the forum I decided to look up this thread about UK Fan Club.
In the new DC MOTU comics there is a new healer character called Mendor, I've said in the threads about the comics how cool it would have been if that character had been called Mendoc after the UK fan club name.
I wish some of these names could have been used as "Real Names" in the MOTUC bios.
Any more Orgers remember their UK Fan Club names so we can add them to the above list?
