Tour of Eternia #7: Sorceresses of Grayskull

Well here's the big one. I've been contributing to this group since forever. I've seen a lot of others include the same characters in a grouping of the Sorceresses of Grayskull, so most of these will be familiar to everyone. I'm about to leave on a trip, so I may be silent for a while. But here's the long in progress Sorceresses of Grayskull entry to the Tour of Eternia.

First obviously is the regular sorceress.

And just for fun, I did the classic colors version.

And here she is as Teelana as she appeared in "Out of the Past."

I also did her predecessors, starting with Koduc Ungl. My thinking was that Koduc, unlike Teelana or Veena, did not have to fight a lot and so she's more of a wise old woman than a warrior.

And of course Veena, the first Sorceress.

Did I say first sorceress? Well I think before her, there had to be the Green Goddess.

Now looking to the future, I've been wondering for a while about Teela as a Sorceress. Divia asked me about it, and I had honestly never thought about it. I don't think she should simply have the snake armor (especially since that's the Goddess now). So I drew her to look even more ceremonial and untouchable than her mother--the idea being that she is giving up her life and freedom to play the part of the sorceress, just like her mother did.

Then I thought about why Teela cannot know about her destiny, and I decided that it must real dangerous for a potential sorceress to try using her powers. That made me think perhaps there have been some evil sorceresses, and naturally the Enchantress seemed like the perfect fit for that.

And finally I also did this version of the NA Sorceress, based on her appearance in the mini comics. I always thought she wasn't the original sorceress, but someone from the future, and possibly a descendant of Teela and Adam.

Now I gotta ask, did I miss something in the Tour of Eternia series?
I can think of 5 different peoples, why is the Sorceress one the 7th?

So far I have (not in number order):
The Spelians
The Quadians
The Caligars
The Fire People
The Sorceresses

Who am I missing? I know you did Horde stuff and POP stuff at the beginning, are they the two? What about Anwat Gar?

Help me great gbagok, you're my only hope...

On a side note, I'm actually working on a piece right now that shows Teela as the Sorceress, she's a kind of feathered serpent. This one has been heavily art directed however so it's not really how I would've done it, but it is very cool nonetheless, all props to the one art directing me.
I'm sure it'll be posted in here sometime.

you SUCK! not your skills, but the way you break my heart! see the thing I LOVE about MOTU is the potential of it. something about this line sparks my imagination like no other line. and to think that none of these creations of yours will see the light of day in the forms you presented HURTS! I would LOVE to see the horsemen take on these designs, I'd love to see them portrayed in new (official) stories. AUGH you're KILLING ME!

great work though, Kudoc Ungl - I LOVE the way she mimics the movie sorceress, I love all these, Enchantress is especially great, your idea gave me a good idea as well.

Baena - I like the idea of Teela as the sorceress having some aztec inspired look. GET TO WORK MAN!!

Holy crap! These are amazing! I especially like the Enchantress and the story behind her.

Baena: If I remember rightly the other two tours were Andreenos and Phantos.

WOW , like always just amazing, i can't wait to see more stuff, when i can see a KING GRAYSKULL!!!!!!!!!! , or all the Skele warriors .

Is it just my influenced mind, or is your koduk Ungl-redesign inspired by the movie-sorceress?

Also: NA Sorceress!!! Now, would it not be swell to do a version of the toon-outfit? Now, I know it looks a lot like the classic, not very sci-fi, but I think there's just something missing here without her.

Cooolness with classic-colours!! But what's this?? Gold?! No, no no. :P The classic toys sorceress staff was white, so it would make sence to make the new staff in silver instead of gold. And if the staff is silver, then why not the rest of the metall, for good measure?

Don't force me to bring out the ol' paint-bucket..

Predabot: There seems to be a hint of the movie-design in there.

My favourites are Veena (the only thing missing is a straight look towards the viewer, then she'd rock my world) and Teela as Sorceress is awesome.

Only thing that my eyes pick out from these, is that in the Teelana-pic, her skin supports the green sky-light, but none of her outfit responds to it as well, so it feels really un-balanced. Could you give the skin it's basic-shadow to make it fit the rest of the tones?

Excellent! I had just started work on an edit, and now I don't have to! Nicely done, sir. The colours always turn out better when properly rendered.

Not dumb at all, it's an interesting idea. My thinking for was that at least at first she has to forsake any and all romance, which is why she looks so formal and not more casual like Veena (who got to use magic AND get married the lucky girl). The tension of her not knowing that Adam is He-Man would be replaced by a frustration that they cannot start a relationship because it would interfere with their roles as guardians of Grayskull. Obviously Adam would have to have matured a lot by that point.

It is on a "need-to-know"-basis

Yeah, that's why it would be replaced with the frustration of no being able to have a relationship... it's always something between them.
