    My RPG: MotU3O

While I waited for the other RPG to release its demo, I decided to make my own RPG with RPG Maker 2003. It's completely different from the other game; with an original storyline, different battle system, big (or long) and annoying dungeons, and bosses that can kill the party if not careful. just like in the old-school games.

Special Thanks to Jukka for the MotU Logo!

Click on this link to download the game (about 10 MB, may take a while on slow connections)

And you can download RPG Maker 2003 here, if you don't already have it. (about 29 MB, about 3 times the size of the game itself)

And please let me know about your opinions on the game. I'd like the game to be hard, but not impossible.

I'm downloading it now to check it out. I'll report what I think later.

EDIT: Apparently I need that Rpg maker 2003 run-time to run it?
Where do I get that?? I'm guessing it's just one small file to be inserted into the systems directory?

You probably need the RM2k3 RTP file. It has a generic assortment of all the music, characters, and other odds and ends the game needs to run. I'm fairly certain there's a way to compile the game to be stand-alone, but that usually makes it a large file.

I can't find any sites with RM2k and the FTP for download, anymore. Thankfully, I still have it on my pc. I'll check the game out soon.

That's what I'm thinking too. I've been looking for a free host that'll allow me to upload a 50 MB .zip file, but no success there. Those without RPG Maker 2003, I'm sorry, you'll have to... wait... I think I found a temporary solution. Click HERE to try downloading RPG Maker 2003.

Here's a tutorial on how to upload the game without others needing resources.

Your maps are incredibly bland and boring. I can't tell one square foot from the other in Greyskull, the castle, or any other area. You need to put down items and such.

The battle system is a cool idea. Reminds me of Phantasy Star 2, which it appears is what you were after. It's a little slow and excessively long for beginning battles, though. Go play PS2 and PS4 or Final Fantasy 2 & 3 again. One or two hits on random mobs and they're dead for the first 45 minutes of gameplay. People get bored with so many long battles, especially in the beginning of the game. You need to get people hooked on the storyline before they feel like sitting through battles.

Recolor Adam's battle sprites. Seeing him in red on his world sprite then purple on his battle sprite is odd.

Give explanations to your items. I don't know what the items do.

Work on those, then we'll see what else you can do.

This isn't related to the Boardwide project. This guy started his own game on his own, and as far as I know, is the only one involved. Maybe he's just been too busy fixing things?

Sure thing. Do you think I should spruce up what I have or add the second dungeon?

Thank you. I've played PS2 and PS4. The battle system I tried to make here is a tribute to the games of the late 80's, where the highest value of the stats was 255 (except for HP and MP/TP). It may seem slow at first, but it gets faster near the end. Perhaps I should add some items to slowly increase their speed. As for the storyline, It's supposed to build up at the beginning, finally revealing everything at or a little past the halfway point.

You're right. I probably need to rework the sprites as well as recolor them. I also need to finish the Teela sprites and get to work on the He-Man sprites.

I do apologize for not commenting right away. I know that comments, positive and negative, will help me improve as I continue the storyline.

I knew that, but maps in the demo should still display some sort of style on what you plan in the future. If you're going to have 120 x 120 maps of the exact same tileset, nobody is going to want to play your game.

Spruce up what you have. When you have at least one enjoyable looking mapset, then you can move on from that base.

Battles should be the complete opposite. The beginning of the game should be easier than the end of the game.

That's not a terribly big deal. Work on the maps before that. Incomplete battle systems and such are fine for a demo. Bad maps are not.

Don't worry about it. If you want, I can rework one of the maps so you can get an idea of how it should look. If not, I may just start my own story, too. That's doubtful, though.
