He-man Classic Cartoon Pemieres at Mann's Chinese Theater!

hey guys, i have this mattel / filmation Planner where it says that He-man and the Masters of the Universe will be Premiering on Saturday Sept. 24, 1983 at Mann's chinese Theater in Los angeles. They will be showing 3 Episodes combines as one with the soreceress as the Narrator. Well, this is the "greatest Adventures of All" from Volume 4.

anyway, this was a big time premiere event with free posters, big 50 foot Masters of the Universe Balloon , Live Motu characters..

now my question is do you think there is footage of this from local tv news crews or from mattel itself?

wouldn't it be so freaking cool, if we can see this premiere??

I think what Carlo is asking is if anyone has any news footage of this from 22 years ago when it occured. If the event was as big as he is describing, there would likely have been some kind of news coverage and/or promotional material from back at that time, and some of it could possibly be archived somewhere. I agree that this would be cool to see if anyone has access to it.

There has to be something somewhere about it. That was a big nite for MOTU. It was like the big release party nite.

Wow first I have heard of this, news coverage would be cool. Although I would of thought that Tallstar should be albe to find some, he seems to be able to find anything related to news.

im sure some sort of coverage exists but may exist on only beta. like network tapes. im sure some great things were handed out at that event! it turn out the brown he-man was handed out there MANN'S HE-MAN!

I wonder if anyone is still with Mattel from that era?This would be a good question for someone at Mattel.I would think that someone from Mattel would have been there representing them since it was a premiere with the dressed up characters there to.I'm not sure how long local t.v. stations archive there old material?It might be worth checking with the local t.v. stations in the Manns ChineseTheatres area in L.A.to see if they have something from that premiere.I know it's a long shot. I wonder what they do with all that stuff as well. I mean where are they putting that sweet Grayskull statue from comic con. And how about the Grayskull building itself.

I would love to get a hold of that statue. You know take it off there hands and all since storage must be a problem for them

someone recently had asked me about this and thought i post about it.. the premiere date in the USA for he-man.

it was Monday Sept. 26, 1983 when motu premiered for the first time on TV in the US.

Saturday, Sept 24th was the premiere at Mann's Chinese Theather.

Since you have the exact dates of the premier, it would make it easy for someone at the TV stations to find something on it. See if you could contact them through email. It's worth a shot.
