I am really pleased at the amount of SA fans on these boards. I have encountered more South Africans here than any other international forum I've been on.

Feel free to post here whether you are a South African living abroad or currently residing in our beautiful and sometimes dangerous country. Heck, anyone can post here really, but I'd like to see all our 'mense' in one thread.

    HordeMonkey, reporting for duty! Hehe.

Guess I'm pretty far removed from the ol' homeland, but thought I'd just say "Howzit" to all the fans back in SA!

Out of curiousity, how's the MOTU collecting in NZ? I have found a local website here which sells them. A few at least, very fortunate.

Hehe, not all too well. We only ever got the first wave of the figures. :P

It took a change encounter in Kuala Lumpur International Airport for me to find Ram-Man, Mekanek, Zodak, Roboto and Two-Bad. But what a find it was! There was a Castle Grayskull there, but I couldn't get it, as we already had too much luggage.

It's really nice to see the SA'ns growing on the ORG. At one stage I thought I was the only one from SA still hooked on MotU.

    O yeah...I'm from the EC.

Yeah, despite all the censorship and such during the 80's, South Africa managed to import quite a good toyline! Is it just me, or do we not really have toy commercials anymore like we used to?

Then again, I'm not at home to watch kids shows or K-tv, so maybe that's why...but they don't even have them on Cartoon Network!

We seem to get a lot of superhero and pokemonesque toys here...but I don't think we ever officially got the new MOTU line. Nor do we get the current Gi-Joe line! (Fortunately I import, thanks WWW.)

Well, legend has it that Reggies had the new stuff ready and waiting in their warehouses but were waiting for the release of the 'movie' (one can only assume they meant "The Beginning") so they could coincide the release of the toys.

Dunno what happened to that. A shame really.

Luckily I got all mine when I lived in London.

Aah, that explains why I saw some of the vehicles in the Factory Toy Store in Parow.

Reggies/Toys R Us (Toys R Us seemed to have bought them out) told me themselves they only sell toys if there is some sort of media to go with it. They make an exception for the cheap stuff and Lego toys though.

Which reminds me, I do see Lego toy ads now and then.

you know when I was in Parow last Christmas I kept meaning to go there but I never did. I was even going to take my little cousin there but my dad was taking us everywhere that I never got the chance. I'm trying to head back this Christmas but that's an expensive flight from Toronto. ESP around Christmas time.

Yep, was there recently. Bit of a trek to get to, but you always find something interesting. The GF got a grizzly bear snowglobe, I bought a 12 inch GI-Joe swat guy for her dads birthday. I am planning to go there again to pick up some stuff for my 3 3/4 inch joes.

Just a block up from it is a big shoprite parking lot. I suggest parking there, it's only like a minute walk to the toyshop.

There is also a smaller one in Kenilworth, along the main road.

yeah it's about a 5-10 minute walk from my Aunt's house, I still don't know WHY I put off going (even AFTER new year I didn't go)

I probably don't count, but my mom is from South Africa and I have visited there. She speaks Afrikaans, but it's really rusty now because she hasn't use it in like 30 yrs.

hey that's JUST like my mom! my dad has been back and he's rusty but not as rusty as my mom, the longer he stays the more it comes back to him. I can understand some of it when it's spoken to me but I can't speak it nor could I carry on a conversation. I'm hoping to go back this december

I was curious about how much Afrikaans my mom remembers so I sent this to her and asked her what she thinks it means. She came up with, "I have a strong feeling that you must be Afrikaans." Is she close?
