Loving the Whiplash! Super cool - the best classic-toy-based-Whiplash I've ever seen. I hated that toy, but your rendition makes him - well - super cool.

BlueStreak: glad you like it! as you know by now, filmation clawful is in my variant thread, and mattel clawful will be showing up in this thread soon.

j-bird: thanks dude! the old whiplash toy is pretty fugly, isn't he?

    **EDIT**

As promised, here's the toy version of Clawful, probably considered to be the standard version by most:

It always struck me as odd that the Clawful action figure looked like a tan guy in a crab costume, so I colored Clawful's flesh like crab meat. Corny, yes, but I think it works. His bewitched, flaming green mace is a nod to the action figure's neon green weapon. The drawing itself is nothing to write home about... on the other hand, I'm very satisfied with how the colors came out.

If you haven't seen it, I posted a pic of the Filmation version of Clawful as well: http://www.he-man.org/forums/boards/...24#post2006524

When I was working on my illustration of Light Spinner, I decided to draw up her eventual alter ego as well. I finally got around to coloring it, so here's Shadow Weaver:

I'm happy with the pose on this one, except for the obscured Horde logo on her belt. I had a bit of difficulty coloring it--for some reason monochromatic red color schemes are something I have difficulty with, and I ended up making a lot of adjustments. The minor changes I made to her costume draw influence from Maleficent and Morticia Addams.

    Up next: Shokoti (standard version)
    I love it.

    Patreek: thanks!

I started this thread with an illustration of Skeletor, now here at last, is Skeletor's mortal enemy, the hero of Eternia, He-Man:

My take on He-Man is primarily drawn from the Filmation version, but with a few minor creative liberties. I rendered the red elements on He-Man's baldric as Korodite crystals, and made the straps on the baldric a darker color. I gave him slightly longer, more unruly hair (with sideburns), instead of his original, inexplicable, pageboy hair cut. I wish I hadn't drawn the legs so hyper-elongated. But I am happy with how the colors came together.

Loving your style Bootleg, yeah it makes more sense for him to have more wild longer hair then is Adam persona, and isn't the baldric suppose to be the source of his strength? Well at least in the older minicomics it was suppose to be that way I think . I drew Heman like that as well, except he in the Battle armor and his power sword has a MYP style to the two-halves version.

    Cool He-Man!
My only beef with your design here would be his leg straps... They read to me as bandages, thus a bit of a weakness... But maybe that's just me.

If they were a dark brown color, I might not notice them as bandages and more as decorative straps instead?

Overall though he's pretty freakin' cool.
Love the idea of the Korodite crystals in his harness.

    j-bird: thanks man!

super-munkyboy: i'm glad you like it--i will definitely get to she-ra... like he-man i think i'd stick pretty close to the filmation costume design, with maybe just a few tweaks here and there.

    BlueStreak: thanks!

JafariStew: you're too kind sir! but i'm very happy you're enjoying these.

theblock: thanks, and you're right about the baldric--and the filmation toon added the fact that the korodite crystals were involved in the manufacture of the garment.

Leoghan: thanks--and i hope you keep dropping in on this thread as i update it.

Baena: thank you, i really appreciate the input--i think you're right that something is off with the boot-wrappings... darker straps are a good idea, but i also think maybe they cover too much of the boots, and there should be some gaps between so that we see more red.

thanks for the feedback everyone. one thing that i think i'll do differently next time i draw him is to give him the assymetrical wrist bracers that the toy had. just to add another point of visual interest.

The lovingly rendered characters on that cover are (from left to right) Mer-Man astride Panthor, Whiplash, and Beastman, as rendered by me when I was about 9-years-old. FYI, the real version of the cover doesn't have the watermark with the blog URL across the cover. If you'd like more info, go here.
I would just like to mention that even though every picture in this thread is a testament to your fine art skills... that this little drawing from a young MOTU fan named bootleg is my favorite. A very awesome post.

JafariStew & j-bird: thanks guys! those pics are actually extracted from a giant MOTU mural that i never quite finished--i plan on cleaning the whole thing up and posting it someday, but it really is huge!

Here's the the Viper Tower, one of the Three Towers of the Eternia Playset. This is a follow up to a post from earlier this year:

I do have some fanbricated (fan + fabricated) background info for the Three Towers, but I'll save it for when I finish the third one. Also I want to sleep right now. Hope you all enjoy it!
