The design is nice, but the armor is a bit too "samurai-ish" for my taste. I also never never liked these influences on the 200X skeletor, neither do i think that Skeletor's split-up sword for the 200X line was a good idea. Too many dragons and bling-bling, it just doesn't fit for the Master of Evil.

The new movie Skeletor should of course have a dark / black cloak, with the major part of his skeleton-head being constantly hidden in the shadows - only the red glowing eyes should pop out, and noteably change depending on his mood (for example get brighter when he's angry, or something). The harness looking similar to the classic version (i do dig the bone and blade extensions on the upper picture), but it may cover more skin - as it would look ridiculous otherwise. Because he's involved into black magic and stuff it would be cool to see some potions (with green or red liquid inside) hanging down his belt. Concerning his skin, i would love if it was not entirely human (beside the blue color), but reptile-like on some areas (with small spikes, for example on the ellbows like at the classic figure's arms). That old design-picture from William Stout posted on the first page is a pretty much kickass start if you ask me, but please for this movie make his face YELLOW and NOT WHITE:

As for He-Man i am not sure. The boots and waist are no problem. There should not be a baggie on the front of his waist tho'. And I would definitely leave out the metal-armory on the lower arms (classic He-Man hasn't had these things painted on the toy as well). The toughest part to come up with will be the armor in my opinion. I am not a fan of the 200X armor, prefer the classic armor 1000x more, but that classic version is very hard to convert to a suitable real-life version without making it seem weird. What I am trying to say is, the classic armor is grey - so apparently that is metal. But in order to make it "bendable" around the torso, and flexible as well, it will have to be split up into segments. Please NO SHOULDER PADS for He-Man in this movie!!! Sword and axe should be leaned on the classic designs ... man, i so friggin' hate the tech-mech 200X sword and even more that monstrously huge 200X axe.

Well the Sorceress would be an exception. I like their design, but it's not the same as the original. I like to think of it as a different piece from her wardrobe. Wings out of the back don't bother me, that's the standard angel look. Besides hasn't she always had those?

I thought I'd throw in my BeastMan concept. I posted it elsewhere before, but this seems like a more appropriate thread.

The skeletor pic was okay, but I don't like those things protruding out of his shoulders. I don't think it would translate well to live action and i imagine them getting in the way. I would like a somewhat more traditional look though, where Skeletor is fairly muscular with a harness similar'ish to the MYP and Filmation cartoons. I like sathomaso's idea of giving him some scaly skin and having some potions hanging from his belt.

Battle Brak, I remember that Beastman from another thread and as i recall i thought it was awesome then and i still do. With that body type, i can totally picture Michael Clarke Duncan in the role.

Nathan Rosario's Skeletor is pretty cool. A little over cooked but I like the familiar aspects that are worked in here.

It wouldn't be a problem if she was actually an angel.

Filmation Sorceress had more of a cape (The wings didn't sprout from her back.)

(Judging from her walking around in that pink nightgown in "Secret of the Sword", you could tell that the feathered getup was a costume.)

You don't mess with an icon.

You can only make so many changes before you're left with something unrecognizable.

Well tell that to the Transformers fans dude!

I don't think they should make heavy changes either but like it or not, they are gonna!

They left Optimus Prime alone (Relatively speaking.)

What can you do? They couldn't get the rights to use some of those body designs (At least TF had a good reason for making some of the changes that they did.)

True! And I could make a whole list of what should not be bothered in the motU history

I never realised why they have to change things. I mean.. look at Asterix.. the comics and the cartoon had the same story writer and the same colorist (or whatever he is called). And they kept the same clothes for Asterix and Obelix throughout the years (they didnt have to change em like they did with He-Man and She-Ra). Plus, the movie was very close to their cartoon and comic form and it worked out great.

I disagree with Prime. Prime's trademark has always been his face not having a mouth, yet they changed that. What irks me most is that there is really no reason to change that one detail, but it makes him not truly be OP in my eyes. The same is true with the decisin to not give Megatron a massive arm canon. But they did anyways.

Thing is that you can't compare the Sorceress to the above two, nor can you compare her to Batman and Superman. Batman, Superman, OP and Megatron are cultural icons, the latter two being at a much lower level. The old school sorceress is not. She means a lot to you because you're a MOTU fan, but the average person on the street doesn't know who she is or think that she's an icon. She was a secondary character in an old series, which is part of a franchise that hasn't had any real success in over 20 yrs. She'll be one of the first to be changed.

btw I hated the 87 movie sorceress costume. It looked sorta like an ugly wedding dress to me, with a broken chandelier on her head.

You know... I honestly would try to do as smooth a live-action translation off of the Filmation Sorceress design as possible.

Honestly, there's not many good options that you have in trying to display a character like the Sorceress. They are...

    1) Make her look like she did in the '87 movie... which I agree with Darth, looked like an ugly wedding dress.

    2) Make her look like Galadriel from Lord of the Rings (i.e. fairly plain, really, and also might make her seem like a rip-off character).

    3) Make her look like MYP Sorceress (i.e. go with a thorough Egyptian motif).

    4) Make her look like Filmation Sorceress.

Of the four options, the one that would truly make the Sorceress stand out from the crowd the best is option no. 4, in my view. The other options are more cliche - my gut feeling, for example, is that Hollywood would play it safe and go with the Egyptian-style Sorceress.

I can't see Mattel wanting to revisit MYP again.

If anything, it'll be a variation of Filmation Sorceress -- the one that was a hit.

Well, in all fairness, it would probably be an improvement over the '87 Sorceress costume which was simply ghastly.

The Sorceress is a minor character. The last movie's flopping had next to nothng to do with her. There was plenty done wrong in the last movie, including the Sorceress (I didn't like the look either) but there was no one who walked out saying, "man that would've been good if the sorceress was done right" or "i would'a watched MOTU, but they totally screwed up hte sorceress".

It's like the Justice League flopping because someone doesn't like Hawkman's costume.

Mattel has no reasn to prefer Filmation over MYP. Filmation was a hit, over 20 years ago. The markets have changed since then. MYP didn't do well, but it had nothing to do with people not liking the toys and the cartoons and had everything to do with people being unable to GET the toys they wanted. How the hell is a line supposed to survive when all you can buy are 2 dozen figures of the same 2 characters and not have anyone else? Back in the 80's, mattel had a fantastic marketing plan. If they used the same plan, MYP would still be around. Besides, from waht i can tell, by and large the only people who prefer the Filmation designs over the 4H designs are the hardcore classic series people and even a lot of them prefer the 4H designs.

I expect that she will be completely redone.

I disagree about her being a "minor" character. She sends He-Man on a great deal of his missions. She's one of the few people who knows Adam's secret identity as He-Man (and hence, she serves his confidante.)

This makes her a pretty important person, IMO.
