    great designs everyone, here's mine:

The design of his helmet is based on the toy version of the Crystal Castle, while his staff is a depiction of the cartoon version. The double crests on his robe are loosely patterned off of the upper windows of the Crystal Castle toy, and the colors of the robe are based on the toy's flag. His breastplate, belt, and boots are based on the Bow action figure--not because he has any connection with Bow directly, but because if there had been a Light Hope action figure, it's likely that Bow's token male sculpt would have been harvested for parts. The symbol on his chest is the same sun-symbol motif found on She-Ra's, and his wings of light echo the double wings of the cartoon version of the Crystal Castle. His sword of light is based on a She-Ra role play set which differs from other depictions of She-Ra's sword.

    * * *

PROFILE: LIGHT HOPE is a master sorcerer and expert warrior. He wields a sword of light and the staff of the Crystal Castle. His wings of light provide him with flight as well as a defensive barrier. Light Hope's even-handed wisdom is reknowned throughout the cosmos.

HISTORY: The power embodied by the Crystal Castle of Etheria is ancient, and, like Castle Grayskull on Eternia, predates recorded history. Light Hope--a powerful warrior-mage rumored to be allies with He-Ro the Wizard and King Grayskull--sacrificed his mortal body to become the caretaker of the mysteries of the Crystal Castle. It is foretold that Light Hope will take on his human form once more in Etheria's greatest hour of need.

This is a drawing I drew over a year ago of Hoep aka light hope before he's light hope. In my mind Hoep is sent to rescue adora when she is first taken by hordak. Eventually he comes across the crystal castle and trancends into Light Hope.

Still working on an update of him though.

    My turn

Here's the link to my version. I see Light Hope as a diety (or something close to it), a wise yet gentle and kind one. More of an advisor and healer than a fighter, but can hold his own. The crystal around his neck is actually a peice from the Crystal Palace itself.

Bootleg: That is da bomb! You have some very clever ideas in there.

Patreek: There's still some time if you want to do a last-minute finish-up of your concept, I'm going to do one myself tomorrow, for instance!

    HuntresSe:
Glad to have you onboard, and welcome to the boards!

Thanks, I hope you like the design.

I hope no one minds me giving my 2-cents and constructive crit on the pics.

Patreek: I really like the prismatic coloring a lot and you're a great artist. My constructive crit are that I'd get rid of the spiked shoulder pad and make it look like the one on the right (it just sticks out IMHO).

Dr. Omega: It's a neat twist to make him a sphere. It's my favorite of the non-humaniod Light Hope designs.

Monikasvo: I like the crystal weapons and armor bits, but it feels too much like Zodak for my tastes. Maybe alter the helmet a bit to make it look less like him.

    gnewton34: Cute and very clever!

Nightwing: Great figurine, especally with the head (which looks awesome.) Reminds me of Odin (from Norse mythology) in a way.

2-Bad: I like how the helmet looks like the Crystal Castle. Constructive Crit: It feels a little top-heavy, maybe if you added a cape made out of light with some great detail on lower half to balance it out.

Mike Bock: I glowing chestplate reminds me of the characters from Visionaries (in a good way) and the top part of the staff is neat. My only CC is that the handle seems a little thin and flimsy I think widening it a bit would give the staff more of a feeling of strength.

Bootleg: I really like this one as well. It reminds me a tad of the MotU Sorceress, but with it's own vibe. This is definately one of my favorites.

Patreek: I look foward to the updated one, it should be interesting.

Glad you like the stuff I posted so far, I should just say that that first primacolor one was done for me by Buffalo Bill man, i didn't draw it. I drew the second one though. I'm still working on reworking it, its just not quite right I keep redoing it.

I see. I know how it feels when a design just doesn't want to work. Good luck with that.

Bootleg: I LOVE your design. You pulled in so many elements (my favorite of which is the toy-version helmet). I could imagine in a new She-Ra cartoon that Lighthope would be used the same way as in the Filmation toon--just rays of light--then maybe during the second-season cliff-hanger he is revealed in his true-human form for the first time to much fanboy delight. Fantastic work!

    It's finally done!!

Just 20 minutes ago or so, I put the semi-final touches on this photo-montage, that I've been working on for showcasing my ideas for Lighthope's redesign.

Now, if any of you are cool and awesome enough to recognise where I got the basics for his figure from, then I will worship the ground where you walk and crawl into the very eternal night for you!

A side-note is that I originally intended for him to sport the cartoon-version of the Sun-symbol, but I could only find a good shot of the toy-version..alas.

As you can see I went for the simplest possible type of redesign, by giving him a non-descript sort of humanoid form, with only the symbol on his chest, and his rainbow-eyes as marking features. The idea with the crystals are, that the reason he so seldomly manifests outside of Crystal castle, is because he needs those type of crystals to take form, so only where there's the right size/type of those mystically channeling crystals can he interact with the outside world.

Looks good. Also like Osgood's idea of not really revealing Light Hope's true form until like a second season cliff-hanger.

Glad you like my simple idea, Huntresse.

Today it's been two weeks since the challenge began, but since there's still a few stragglers struggling to get their entries done ( hint hint, Patreek I'm looking at you..) I'm going to post-pone the poll for tomorrow.

    Get those entries DONE, people!

Gah I can't enter, too much on my plate. But the entries are stunning. I'm especially a fan of Bootleg's archangel style Lighthope I also like 2-bads complex version and Mr Bock's old sage

    Its tough

Predabot - Is the inspiration taken from some 80's film? Its the guys perm like mullet thing I do like it a lot.

Cool idea with the crystals, Predabot. That makes a lot more sense than the way Mattel handled his history. "He can never leave the crystal castle, except for sometimes."

Sad to hear that you can't enter, mate...

The hairdo is far older than the 80's however, several hundred years in fact.

It's made up of cobbled together pieces of a drawing by one of history's greatest artists. ( I think everybody's seen this image sometime)

I dunno... Kindof makes it sound like prison to me.
I don't care how pretty the castle is, it would get old no?

At least the Sorceress could leave Grayskull from time to time.

Well, the difference I suppose is that Light Hope is not a physical being so much anyway, he might even be an artificial magic construct, perhaps born inside the crystals of Crystal Castle. Maybe he's created his own little world inside of those crystals, or it was made for him?

I did have seom ideas about that if She-Ra's sword is smashed in a million pieces by a powered up Hordak, her new sword would be outfitted with a new gem, with the properties of detaching allowing Light Hope to manifest.

( gem would then be visible in the sun-symbol on Light Hope)

But I opted out, since it's a bit of a cop-out for it all, and too much of a rip-off of the Doctor in ST: Voyager.

YES!!! You are right! The Vitruvian Man! I bow for your intellect supreme and wisdom infinite!

I'd link you to the original piece, but I know how sensitive you Yanks are about the human form, so I wont.
So... did Baena figure it out too? =)
