Kactura - Plant Maiden of the Dessert

Kactura

Affiliation- Heroic Masters

Bio:

(Whats going on, I've created a heroine?)

An off-shoot from Moss Man's plant kind, Kactura is part of the desert fauna nation, a small kingdom which has isolated itself from the ongoing war of Eternia. Nomads by nature, they comb the desert, collecting and recycling what they can to make tools and homes. At night, they need to collect whatever moisture they can.

Kactura is an emmisary, her people having been attacked my Skwyrm (My other desert character) and his sand worms. Believing it was the beginning of Skeletor's invasion, she comes to the Masters for help.

No wallflower herself, Kactura is kind natured, but can go into hyper rage, especially if she has a lack of water. Friend or foe can get injured by her torpedo spike attack which sends hundreds of spines at her enemies, if she doesn't have any moisture.

On the flip side, if her ally is dying of thirst, she will willingly open a wound and pour any water she has managed to save up, to keep them alive.

Her hair is based in the wispy like hair a cactus can grow.

I like her a lot - Not sure about the hair. What do you think of a prickly pear "bun" hairstyle? Just a suggestion.

I like the inhuman qualities, in other words. But of course it's not my call.

I love the idea of a cactus character.

I like the concept of an heroic cactus-like humanoid. It's fresh and it's a first in this boards as far as I know. You have a 10 in my book just for that alone.

My only gripe about your character sketch is that the face makes her look similar to a Bratz doll. Any other thing than that is fine.

Its just my style, I've lost the ability to draw normal as I drew chibi too much. The final statue, if she got chosen, would look more human and less Bratz...gah I hate those things with a passion.

She should be coloured tonight.

Umm... this character is pure genious. I love it. I think I'd rather see her as a POP person, but other then that I think its a brilliant idea. This is def one of my fav. characters you've posted.

LOL thanks dude. I think she can swing to both entities. Maybe she has family in Etheria

i must be sounding like a broken record by this point, but this character is great! i think of all your original characters she may be my favorite. the colors are fantastic and her arm guards/weapons are badass.

I really like Kactura, smb. Very unique concept & I have a feeling she'd give Spikor a run for his money too. But i really like the fact that she seems so powerful & is a Master at the same time. Great job as always.

Thanks guys. Glad you like her. Its weird for me, I've created a good guy, makes me feel dirty, LOL!!!!

2-bad - Yeah she is pretty powerful, but I gave her a weakness as she needs water. Bit of balance, otherwise she'd be unstoppable.

Oh yeah...

here is some more realistic versions of Kactura from a couple of my mates off Deviantart:

This is an action shot by Kat / Dreamwolf. Kactura is loosely based on her as well.

A ready to strike pose from Jason Cardy as well. Looks real menacing in this shot.

Jason and Kat are the colouring team known as Dukwax, and have worked on the A.T.O.M comic and the recently released Henry V... good stuff folks!!!

Here's my version that's more true to your design:

The description of her hair as "wispy" made me want to draw it being tossed around by whatever breeze there might be.

Here's the version I can't get out of my head; for some reason I keep seeing her leg-armor as chaps or something. With her arms down I also, for whatever reason, felt the need to turn the projecting-bits on her armguards the other way.

Anyway, that's my take on her.

Edit: I added some computer color to the "alternate" version ... (I downloaded a trial copy of an art program and tried it out ...) the color's ok. I tried something different for the spines, and I'm not quite sure it worked. Let me know what you think.

Stepping in to restate how much I like her. Kactura would make a good adversary or partner-in-crime for Scorpia. She's great!

This last design of her is cool but it would be better if she had retractile thorns. With all those thorns sprouting she wouldnt be able to shake hands with her allies or kiss her boyfriend if he isnt part of the cactus people
