I am actually thinking of setting up at a future Big Apple Comic Con show with a bunch of he-man and various 80s toys..... Thank you Brianatarms for directing me here!! Some of you know i'm in Staten Island. I guess that makes 4 of us. Who knew? We definitely need a second meet and greet. I'm sure there's another crazy lady who will follow us for a few blocks. Galaxy, i still have that box of extra stuff for you in my parents attic. Did anyone here do the Idiotarod yesterday? It was a hell of alot of fun..

Hi there, my relatives are from Brooklin and now they live between Hudson, Staten Island, and NJ, someone during the winter is in Florida.
I really would like to be there in NY, but I got to obtain a visa from the NY University before... it's a bit hard to be taken there!
I'm going to be in Florida in April, if I can I'll try to come there to the con, it's far but not impossible, do you know a good transport from Orlando to NY, how many days would the trip last? Probably two?

to fly it would like 2 hours. to drive like 2 1/2 days, bus its like 3 1/2 days.

Wow, so the bus is the slowest one.
Anyway it could be a great adventure to stay three days tripping along the east coast... I'll see. Thanks for the update man.

Let's come back in topic, how is the air of NY now, I mean is it exciting as usual? How do you pass your spare time in the World Second Home?
I was living in London the last three months but it wasn't a good experience at all, such a boring place if you don't like night clubs! Yeeew...

the bus ride you'd take is pretty ...ummm "fun" ive done it before. it's an expreience new york is as good as anywhere could possibly be. being birna nd raised its tends to bore me. theres tons to do and tons not to do.

NYC is the kind of city that you can walk around for hours doing nothing but still feel like you've had an eventful day. There are a billion things to do, always some sort of event or festival. Lots of amazing live music and theatre, cultures... just standing still and observing it can be amazing and exhausting. lol

Yeah, I can imagine that. It would be wonderful to reach it using a car.

Yea you do kinda get tired of the same ol things every day. Theres so much that the city offers that i take for granted.

you can actually get pretty inexpensive plane tickets depending on where you are coming from. I always fly under 200 round trip

NEW YORK COMIC CON THIS WEEKEND!! Who is going?

OK so i was sitting on the subway today reading a comic to pass the time and this guy is like oh you like comics? I said YESS! and he said cool want some free tickets to comic con?!?!!?!?!?

So I took them and then ran to my job and begged them to let me off, someone took my shifts and now i'm going!?!?

I've never been to a con before, so what do I do... I mean, do I get there way early? anybody want to hold my hand and lead me around? jk lol

I was at NY Comic Con, great show, only problem was every dealer wanted top dollar for the things they were selling.

Cool, any pics of you there? maybe i saw you? So do you live in NYC then? or did you just come in for the con. I saw this She-ra at one stand, and I decided to go to the atm so i coudl buy her. I got back and she was gone :0( i got some cool sketches done there though.

No, no photos of me, like Bigfoot I hate leaving evidence of my existence behind. I did get one of the guy dressed like Skeletor though. And I'm from Jersey so it was just a train ride in for me and my buddy.

Hahaha, Well thats awesome. We keep talking about doing a NYC get together but nothing has materialized yet. I hope it does I'd love to meet some local he-fans.

I actually didn't get to make it out to Comic Con this year had my friends bachelor party.

I was actually thinking about it recently and we do need to organize a get together somehow. Especially once we get pics from Comic Con in!

Hey guys and gals.

With the addition of the Social groups here on the forum, one thing we're going to make a push for is the use of them for groups like yours.

The social group once set up will allow for you to post threads inside of them specific to your club/group.

These areas are also "unmoderated"
I say that with quotes because the forum rules and guidelines still apply, but you take upon yourself to sort of self-moderate.
We will still come in and moderate, especially if something is reported. For example, we've seen a couple groups use their areas to criticize and attack other members, and that's not what they are there for.
But the social group would still be your little safe haven of sorts.

In time, what will will do is shut down group/club discussion threads in this forum and replace them with links to your social group.
That way new members can seek you out.
And you can also PM members who are in your area (as you can tell from their user profiles) to come and join your social group.

I know it may be a bummer to see long previously existing threads like this come to a close.
But I guarantee you'll find the social groups more to your liking, especially with the ability to have multiple on-going discussions rather than one thread where it's harder to keep track.

And yes, this is gonna be a post I cross-post to other group discussion threads.
So I apologize for the generic'ness of it.

Anyway, check out the Social group area today.
And I suggest the most prominent member of this thread be the one to setup the social group.
Discuss amongst yourselves who that person is.
Don't any one person jump in there and do it on a whim without talking to everyone else here first!
It's better to respect the existing members of the group and decide together how you want to get your own social group established.
