MotU Redesign Challenge #78 - Castaspella

Indeed, the young queen of Mystacore is up for the line of characters getting a makeover.

One of the most shining students of the great sorcerer Norwyn, Castaspella was deemed as so prodigal in the ways of magic that she was chosen as the next ruler of the mystic kingdom of Mystacor, possibly setting the presidence that she is the greatest magic-user that the kingdom has so far produced.

She was not the only student of Norwyn, who also tutored Castaspellas former friend Lightspinner. Who ultimately became to impatient to master the bright arts, and became transformed into Castaspellas nemesis, Shadow Weaver.

A funny thing, is that her toy mentions that she is an "Enchantress that hypnotizes", ( sort of like a female Mandrake, for all of you comic-strip fans) but to my knowledge that power was never used in the cartoon.

Let's lay down the rules, shall we? ; )

All people who choose to participate will have two weeks to come up with a redesign for Castaspella. You can use any medium you wish. You can sketch, paint make a 3-D model, make a sprite, make a custom action figure, whatever you want. Its entirely up to you!

As well, you don't have to force yourself to make your design conform to the new or old cartoon or comic book's style. Be as drastic in your redesign as you see fit. Whatever makes you happy.

If you can't think of a new design, or just hate the idea of working on this character, you do not have to feel obligated to participate in this particular challenge. You will still be free to participate in any future challenges you wish.

Designer Notes: Being such a prestigious spellcaster and political figure I decided to go with a kind of glamorous style with her outfit. The wheel seemed rather cumbersome so I have these streams of magical energy that circle around her body whenever she uses her magic.

I see her being a bit of a celebrity due to all her fame. While she can get a little haughty, she's wise and can easily back up any claim.

The Asian features of the dress just came to me. Now that I think of it, I could see Mysticore being a multi-cultural melting pot with a variety of cultural influences.

Avril: How about some patterns that make use of the Op-art effect? It can sometimes look really confusing.

I kept the jewels on her gauntlets for the hypnotising... not sure what else to put on her except for the umbrella swirls that make people dizzy lol

I like the haircut of Yaoi's version and barbarian princess -style of Avril's. Thayt reminds me more Gabrielle than Teela

My weapon choice is heavily inspired by Buffalo-Bill-Mans Entrapta & Mermista designs.

Well, well, looks like you got the colour-part well in hand, I must say. You should do more colour-stuff, because it looks like you can really add some extra spice to your drawings that way.

Predabot: latina feeling was an accident. I made the face freehand and just tryed do little different appearance than clone of classic barbie. But now when you ask, I think it was Shakira singing in backround when I colored the picture.
