Those are so out-of-control good, gbagok!
I´m somehow missing the hypnotizing aspect of the Enchantress who hypnotizes in most of these redesigns...![]()

Wow, these are looking incredible so far!The detail you guys are putting into her disk is absolutely amazing!
Flitzi, the disk on mine is a spin wheel on the inside, so the lightning bolts would spin and help produce the hypnotic effect, also they would spin to cause propulsion in it's use as a hover disk. Plus her jewels on her gauntlets contain power that can be used for that as well.
The look of the original toy didn't give too much of a hypnotizing feel until you spun her disk either.
Hope that helps you to see that appeal in my design. I am sure if Gbagoks disk interior were to spin it would give a hynotic feel also.
Hugs,
BTL
Look for my designs on Deviant art. I am under Octobersdream. Will do commissions of anything, original to recreating any older line. Also needing POP stuff and some MoTU things aswell.
You are all right. There are magic hypnotizing effects in every design.
I just thought that with a redesign this aspect could be boosted a little. "Everybody" can hypnotize with a rotating disc or pendants. I´m aware that the classic toy didn´t give this feeling, but with this redesign maybe the power mentioned on the classic card could be implemented into the design of the character even more?!
I really hope nobody feels offended, this is just meant as a proposal and an idea for new designs.

Seeing gbagok's pictures makes me even more livid over the She-Ra band idea and the fact that nobody has attempted to do anything respectable with She-Ra as a cartoon!Even if they know it's going to flop, they should do it anyway for love of the brand.

Avril: fantastic--i don't recall seeing color work from you before--i hope you post more! i love the design of the skirt, and the gems on the boots. as for the teela resemblance, i think once you colored her that was no longer a problem--the blue and yellow makes it very clear that it's castaspella.
Monikasvo: she's definitely got a very 'disco' look.i like the way you made her comb accessory into a polearm, and i like that you went with the toy version's color scheme. good work!
beyond the legends: love it!i'll post more detail in your POP thread.
Bak-or: i like her tough expression, and the multi-colored magic effects. the design of her belt and skirt is great!
gbagok: you always knock it right out of the park! (by the way, that "unfinished" baclground is pretty amazing) your attention to detail and eye for color are excellent, as always. i particularly like the design of her boots, head-dress, and disc. and i love the idea of a hover disc. great stuff!

All right, guys. According to my calculations there are only 4 more days until deadline. So if there's anyone that's still working on their designs, I just thought I'd let you know...
Get it done for the 24th!![]()
You know I would have expected alot more entries, considering the multitude there were of Shokoti. Come on people, let's see em!!![]()

Sounds promising, promising... get right to it, lads!
Gonzo Merman:
Gothra-spella, eh?Well, I must say I rather like the net-patterns you've made on her arms and legs. Some real originality there.
Looks like if it's not regular cloth, but rather magical constructs.
Just finished up my version of the young Mage while she is still an apprentice, complete with biocard. Based more on the classic POP toy with my own twist. I was going for simple, fresh, yet retro with this design... & her "hypnotic wheel" is a hexogram cast by her own magic!! Enjoy!!
Any feedback is always welcomed! Thanks!!![]()

I LOVE the energy-based disk, JafariStew! Very cool move in my opinion.![]()
Evil Simian Mechanic of the Horde!
Yay! you made the deadline Jafari!I must say I really like the way you handled the disc here, and also gave her a built-in profile.
I wager the built-in short profile is something other artists of the board would find useful too.![]()
Everybody listen up tho, because the DEADLINE is very close!!In about 12 hours this challenge closes and the poll will be going up. So if you still got some things to fix on your design before you send it in, now is the time to do it.
I'm not sure if i'll have time to get this colored in time... so here is what I have so far.

Gonzo Merman: a gothic lolita castaspella... i love it! very creative, and i like that even though you went goth with her design you still kept her color scheme.
JafariStew: i'm so glad you posted dude! great entry--the costume is very reminiscent of the type of outfit we'd see youths wearing in the filmation toons. the hypnotic gauntlet is a very nice touch. as for the energy disk with runes... the .org mindlink has struck again--i'm also drawing a version of casta based on the toy (probably gonna post it next week or so), and i made her disk energy based. great minds think alike.
Patreek: i hope you get a chance to color it--i really like what you've done with her costume!
I didn't have much to express about Castaspella (in terms of a real re-design) but I did want to draw her, so I'm posting it, but I do not want to submit my drawing for voting. My version is really just a minor tweak rather than a true re-design, so I don't think it would be fair to enter:
This picture is based on Castaspella's cartoon incarnation (a pic based on the toy version is in the works, i'll post it in my variants thread). The toy was billed as an "Enchantress who Hypnotizes"; I have instead billed her as "Heroic Mage-Queen of Mystacor" because A) she never hypnotized anyone in the cartoon, and B) she was the heroic mage-queen of the country Mystacor.
The main tweak in my take is that I merged her top and skirt into a dress (and juggled some colors around accordingly), in an attempt to accentuate the 'go go girl' look that Castaspella sported in the cartoon. Her posture is meant to have a bit of a haughty aristocratic feel. If I could change one thing, I would make her hair more curly.

Wow bootleg thats great! I really like it. I know you don't want to enter it but the tweaks you made to her costume make a big difference in my opinion. Looks good.
I don't have time to really color this so I just threw on some flats and added some magic so you could get the general idea. I have to work tomorrow... but hopefully in the poll thread i'll get to post the final product.
The amulate around her neck is very powerful.

thanks Patreek! well, if there's some enormous outcry from the other entrants to include my version in poll, i'd be fine with that.
about your colors: the magic effects look awesome! and i really like the intricate jewelry and details that you've given her. do you color in photoshop? if so, are you using layers set on multiply?
Visit my sketchblog at its new URL: JASONBOT.com!
I'm using the gimp, it came with this "magic" brush, so I just did fill flats in one layer and then played with that. haha.
Here is an update. As I was playing with things, Casta had a "true lies" moment and decided her outfit needed to be more "current'. I see her costume as being highly modifiable, thats her "action feature"
By the way, I am posting a few other alt versions on my deviant art page... but uh, i don't think they'd fly in this thread. lol

Well this challenge is just what I needed to get me back into custom figure making. I've had this idea in my head for a while but I needed a push to actually do it. She's not completely finished, still needs some paint touch-ups but she's done enough that you can see my design. When she's fully finished I'll post more detailed pics in the custom figure forum.
BIO: When the Sorceress became pregnant with Teela she sought to find a successor so that she would be able to raise her child. Two young enchantresses came to her attention, Castaspella and Light Spinner. She began training them both to take her place but informed them only one would ultimately receive the mantle.
Though Light Spinner showed promise as the more powerful of the two Sorceress sensed a lust for power in her and chose to go with Castaspella instead. (it's a fact of life that the more someone wants power the less suited they are to have it) Enraged, Light Spinner turned to dark magic and made a pact with Hordak to help him escape Despondos in return for great power. Hordak granted her request and Light Spinner became Shadow Weaver.
Shadow Weaver then abducted the newborn Princess Adora, knowing she was a descendant of King Grayskull and thus her blood could allow Hordak to be reborn and escape. Castaspella battled her former friend but was unable to stop her from sending Adora into Despondos. Just as Hordak was about to be free Casta made a difficult decision and knocked Shadow Weaver into Despondos sealing the portal, preventing Hordak's escape but sacrificing Adora in the process.
Though grieved by their loss, Randor and Marlena forgave Castaspella knowing her actions had saved all of Eternia. Casta however could not forgive herself and went into a self imposed exile as punishment. Before departing she told Sorceress how to contact her but to do so only if Shadow Weaver should ever return or a way to rescue Adora be found (though the latter was not actively pursued as everyone assumed the child dead) With her successor gone and with no time to find and train another one Sorceress was forced to keep her position and gave Teela to Duncan to raise.
Years later Shadow Weaver did return along with a gown up Adora when the Horde escaped Despondos. Sorceress summoned Castspella back and she played a major role in revealing Adora's true heritage to her and converting the Princess back to the right side. Casta continues to fight alongside the Masters now in their efforts against the Horde and also serves a close friend and mentor to Adora/She-Ra while meanwhile she herself prepares to face her friend turned nemesis Shadow Weaver in what is certain to be a battle to the finish.
(To clarify yes in this continuity Castaspella knows Adora is She-Ra. Shadow Weaver does not. Though she did learn of Adora's heritage she did not know of her destiny. That secret was reserved for the student who actually would become the new Sorceress thus Casta was told but Weaver wasn't. Sure you'd think she'd be able to figure it out but then no one else can either...)
