Thanks Patreek! I thought it would be kind of fun to see what the new designs looked like in the old colors, so I'm glad you thought so too.

And, to wrap up the He-Man variants, at least for now:

    200x/MYP He-Man:

    Savage He-Man:

I thought he could also be the He-Man that first left his barbarian village (before he got the Power Sword / etc) - the marking (war-paint of some kind) on his shoulder could be the symbol from his dreams that inspired him to go out into the world and fight evil and all that.

and, saving the best (?) for last - the ultimate He-Man variant:

I wanted Faker to look a little more creepy, so I hope that comes across.

Anwyay, just wanted to wrap these up for now. I may revisit the idea later, at least in some way, but I think I'm ready to move on to some other characters.

    Enjoy!

Thanks Leoghan - he was a lot of fun to do, so I'm glad you like 'im.

And, moving on, I figured Faker was a good lead-in to:

He-Man's main adversary in his classic gear. He's a little lower in the "window" than I wanted him, but after I put his staff in his hand, I had to move him down (either that or change the size of the figure or the window, and I wanted to keep a "standard" feel to these).

I'm really diggin' this new "series" of characters I'm working on, so I hope y'all are enjoying them.

Feedback is always welcome - let me know what you guys think!

    EDIT:
Here is 200x Skeletor, one version with cloak and staff, one without:

    Enjoy!

Real, real, real good work pal, I like your approach on the characters and your sense of proportion of the anatomy. Great!

    I don't much care for He-Man's thigh/calves proportions. Or the anime-styled emo-lookin' hair.

But you get points for showing Skeletor both with and without the cape. Quite cool.

Thank you! I've really been enjoying your classic-style stuff as well.

Can you tell me what specifically you don't care for about his legs? Do you feel one (the thigh or calf) is too big/small compared to the other? It helps to know specifics so I can look at my stuff a little more objectively.

And sorry you're not diggin' the anime-style hair ... my style tends to stray a little bit in that direction.

And for those who can't quite get enough Skeletor:

This is an update of the Battle-Armor Skeletor redesign I did for the contest early last year. Not the winner, but I'm still happy with it (at least, with this version of my redesign). There might be a pic of that earlier in this thread ... if not, there's one on my DA page if you're interested.

    Enjoy!

EDIT: I updated it so that the chainmail isn't so subtle, since that's totally what it is.

Hey...cool BA Skellie! Interesting choice, with the Arabian-type hood. Weaver would approve.

The thighs just aren't big enough compared to the calves. He looks like one of those balloon animals a clown whips up at a kid's party. Or a saucage chain. You know? Too wide then super skinny. The torso is strong and thick...his legs don't match up. Unless you were going for something really cartoony, but right now...it's not enough cartoony to make it make sense.

I updated the chain/scale mail on Battle Armor Skeletor (my previous post) so it's a little less subtle - hopefully that reads better.

    EDIT:
My last (for now, at least) Skeletor variant:

The tagline isn't great, but it was the best I could come up with. Let me know what you think.

Awesome, they're facing forward now! Seems like you've mastered the technique, j-bird!

Thanks - glad you like the face-forward pose! And, as far as characters go, I think/hope you'll enjoy my next one. I hope to have it posted in the next couple of days.

Thank you - I am happy with the way it turned out, so I'm glad it's getting some appreciation.

And here, freed from The Void at long last:

I don't know if anybody will notice, but for these two I switched the background picture (man-form in the background of the snake-form picture and snake-form behind the man-form). I thought it was a little more interesting that way.

I also took out the "disguised" from his classic tagline, since in the 200x series his man-form wasn't so much a disguise as it was an alternate form.

I also learned something drawing his snake-form: I need to work on my drawing of snake-heads ...

Skeletor with the cape looks awesome.

And, finally, my version of Hordak:

Perhaps the greatest villain of the whole MotU/PoP mythos (at least, to me he is/could be/should be).

And here he is with that [email protected]$$ staff they gave him:

Awesome job! You just keep getting better and better. I am a little anxious, since you are now starting with Hordak, does that mean you will finally be doing a Catra and Entrapta?

You have done pretty much all the rest of the POP gang. Would also love to see your take on Scorpia and Octavia as well.

    Toby
Look for my designs on Deviant art. I am under Octobersdream. Will do commissions of anything, original to recreating any older line. Also needing POP stuff and some MoTU things aswell.

Thanks! I'm glad you like my Hordak; I am hoping to do the rest of the Horde in the not-too-distant future, and for me that would include Catra, Entrapta, Scorpia, and Octavia, so hopefully my takes on them aren't that far away.

But, for now, here's my updated take on the Sorceress, 200x-era:

And a "hybrid-redesign" of my favorite lady-falcon, kind of bringing her classic look into the 200x era:

I feel like there's a little more barbarian "oomph" to her, and for some reason it really kind of works for me. Enjoy!

I've been watching your DeviantArt page for a long time picking up these new design cards as you post them, but wanted to swing by to drop a comment here in the thread... Great art as always J, really fun, colorful, classic comic-book / cartoon feeling designs. I love 'em.

j-bird: these are all looking good, but i'm with Eamon--your sorceress illustrations are looking particularly awesome. the classic-styled version is too cool!

btw--your lineart is looking much cleaner--are you drawing with something different? or perhaps drawing larger? whatever it is, i like it.

Thanks guys - I am so happy people are responding to her!

And thanks for the comment on the lineart, bootleg - I am doing something a little different. I'm trying out a harder (lighter) lead pencil to sketch the picture in first, then "finishing" my lines with a softer/darker lead. It's not quite inking, but I think it does clean it up a little bit in comparison to some of my older work. I'm glad it got noticed!

Oh yeah, your line work is getting more cleaner!

You'll find yourself wanting to get cleaner and cleaner as do you more.
