Couldn’t agree more. Iron Maiden still not in? Lol. What a joke, especially that the foo fighters got in before them. Not to say that they don’t deserve it but not before Maiden

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has lost all credibility!!

The Early Influence category used to be reserved for artists from before 1955. Artists who pre-date Rock and Roll. Now the early influence category includes artists from the late 1950s and the 1960s-1970s who can't seem to get enough votes to be inducted in the Main Performers category. After 6 times being nominated in the main performers category and not making it, Kraftwerk is now getting inducted in the early influence category. Back door entry. This is ridiculous! They are the precursor to Devo and Daft Punk. Gil Scott-Heron first debuted in 1970. He's the precursor to rap music. He's never gotten enough support from the Rock Hall to be nominated in the main performers category, but he did deserve it. So now they are just inducting him in the early influence category. The committee probably didn't feel right about Jay-Z and LL Cool J being in the hall if Gil Scott-Heron ain't. Now all three will be inducted the same year. There are people on the committee who want to induct MC5 and Bad Brains in the early influence category in the future if they never make it in the main performers category. Charley Patton is the only legitimate Early Influence inductee for 2021. He's the Father of the Delta Blues; singer and guitarist from the 1920s-1930s.

The Musical Excellence category was called the Sidemen category from 2000 to 2010. This year, two legitimate Sidemen are being inducted - Billy Preston and Randy Rhoads, and they deserve it. It's been too damn long for the late Billy Preston and Randy Rhoads.

After being nominated 6 times and not getting enough votes to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in the main performers category, rapper LL Cool J is getting the consolation prize of being inducted in the musical excellence category.

I can't help but be biased, The Go-Go's are a huge part of my life as one of my favourite bands, and I would probably feel the same about the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame if The Go-Go's had not won, but they did and I can only feel pride in the outcome and respect for the HOF.

Exactly! This HOF is a complete joke. It's amazing how so many deserving artists get over looked and the voting becomes nothing but a popularity vote by mostly people who aren't qualified to be voting people into a "rock n' roll" HOF. It's quite pathetic.

I would be upset too if my favourite artists had not been inducted, but it seems to me that there are a lot of sour grapes involved in people's negative reactions to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, I don't see how that reaction is anything but biased and hardly impartial.

I am delighted for The Go-Go's success and I wish the same for The Bangles when it is their time to shine, I shall campaign just as fiercely for them. It's not about colour for me, it's about the artists I love and the talents that deserve to be recognised.

I look forward to watching the ceremony in October.

I wonder if this thread would get high amount of reply and active if The Go-Go weren't in the nomination?

It's OK Fendi, I know the difference between some friendly kidding and someone being mean and bullying.

I do have a well developed sense of humour and good graces.

Just wait until The Bangles become nominated and hopefully win. This will be Mikey's Celebration Part 2!

The overall problem with the R&R Hall of Fame is that it just doesn't fundamentally represent what it claims to be.

When I was a kid, I visited the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown NY many times. There weren't a lot of glaring omissions, and it was actually baseball players that got inducted.

If it operated like the R&R HOF, it would be like Hank Aaron might get snubbed, but Joe Namath gets inducted. Joe Namath belongs in a hall of fame but not that one. Or if randomly Satchel Paige, Babe Ruth, and Ted Williams were missing year after year, but Lou Gehrig, Michael Jordan, and David Beckham get announced.

No question of the talent of all those names above, but in a Baseball Hall of Fame, can you imagine if Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth were passed over year after year, but non-Baseball players and ones far less impactful to the game kept getting the nod?

If it wants to be essentially a "mainstream music HOF" and be much broader, just call it that.

That was the problem I have had with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I can understand, if the arguments were about should heavy metal or punk bands be allowed in, I also understand that often 'rock' bands will take inspiration from other genres.

When I visited it was a great experience, but items from Katy Perry and Lady Gaga being on display were a shock.

Do I think the artists accepted deserve accolade? Yes.

I just see this just another popularity awards. I'll just stick to genre based awards of hall of fame, Unless Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award snub Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden.

I just realized how much Belinda Carlisle and Stevie Nicks sound alike.

I can hear Stevie Nicks singing Belinda Carlisle songs in the 80s: Mad About You, Heaven Is A Place On Earth, I Get Weak, Circle In The Sand, Leave A Light On For Me, and I can hear Belinda Carlisle singing Stevie Nicks songs in the 80s: Edge Of Seventeen, Stand Back, I Can't Wait, Talk To Me, Rooms On Fire.

Fleetwood Mac could have performed Our Lips Are Sealed, and The Go-Go's could have performed Gypsy.

As much as I love Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, Kathy Valentine and Gina Schock, I must be honest and say that my favourite Go-Go is Charlotte Caffey, and to have her (and the other ladies) in the Hall Of Fame makes me delighted and proud. Charlotte is an amazing singer-songwriter-guitarist-keyboardist.

I don't really know a lot about Todd Rundgren other than the songs of his covered by Susanna Hoffs and Matthew Sweet on one of their Under The Covers albums. I have a friend who is actually writing a book (authorised) about Todd Rundgren though, both of whom also happens to be a fan of The Go-Go's and The Bangles.

I would love to see The Go-Go's perform live at the ceremony, and I would love to know who will be introducing them. If they do perform, they should do Head Over Heels, because that's how the fans are feeling - Head Over Heels..In LOVE!
