    Earl Norem Gallery Search!

Hello there! i've been recently looking for a good Earl Norem gallery online and I simply cant find one. He did all kinds of sweet MOTU paintings and I wanted to get 1 or 2 made into posters for my room ... but I cant without the pictures obviously.

He also did conan, transformers, hulk ..... and for such a good artist, i cant believe no one has a good gallery of his work. Any help would be appreciated! thanks! = )

thats a crime! .... he's done so much stuff, and it's REALLY good. Sure he doesnt have a unique look to his work ... he just does sweet comics characters the way i would imagine them..... like when you read a comic of he-man, the way he paints is how i see him in my head ... every MOTU pic he's done excites the nerd in me .... i wonder if there is anything we can do to remedy this problem

how old is he BTW .... has he been around a while? .... since the 80's at least if he did motu stuff .... you think someone that's done it for as long as he has would have a website or a fan base or something ....

    He did back in 2002 a variant Comic-cover for the MotU-comic Vol.1 #1

Also he painted an Art-Card to Classic MotU DVD Season 1 Volume 2.

You have to remember some of these guys are too long in the tooth to be bothered learning or getting someone to design a website for them.

for sure, but look at Frank Frazetta, he has a few websites, none of which he paid for, nor does he run. Norem has done Hulk, Conan, He-Man, Silver-Surfer ... the list is huge .... and not 1 fan site? .... like, He-Man.org isnt run by mattel .... I dont think his age matters, or the fact he cant be bothered.... i'd think fans like us would do the work for him!

I would happily design an Earl Norem website if folks were interested in helping out sourcing the images for the galleries.

That sounds like a plan, you beautiful, shaggy barbarian from beyond Hadrian's Wall.

I think a lot of us fans would HELP you too, Pig Boy, with what meager skills we may possess. I know I would.

Designing a sweet website is the easy part. It's finding the images that the problem.
I haven't looked that hard now but when I did, there just didn't seem to be a lot of decent quality scans of Norem's work.
I have loads of old Conan comics but they are in my folks attic in Ireland sadly.
If folks can find the scans, I'll put the whole thing together.

(emphasis on the word 'Ireland' there Predabot )

I could get some scans of the He-Man magazines issue 1 and 2. (Didn't he have some artwork in these - covers or posters inside) Also does anyone know if his work is on some of the Golden Book releases in USA. I have some of those if I can find them.

I know for sure were my magazines are I will have to dig up the books if he has artwork in those.
In Midwinter, the heat from the oven baking my Shrinky Dinks is all I need!

    http://www.askart.com/AskART/artists...&artist=110834

At this askart website it says you can become a member of the site to access a bigger gallery. I've been meaning to look into signing up for a while but I'm not sure if it costs money or something. Might not be worth it if you have to pay cause it looks like theres only 26 images in the gallery. Maybe its worth it for other artist though.

I find it odd that you put out this request then make the statement "sure there is nothing unique to his work". It actually kinda offends me to a degree. I'm sure you didn't mean much by it since you are clearly into his work, but come on... his style is quite unique. Not many artists back then attacked fantasy imagery with this amount of realism. He is easily one of my favourite artists based on his MOTU work alone... I even have a tattoo of one of his pieces.

I've been meaning to ask a question on these pages that I might as well throw in this thread... anyone have contact info for him? Him and his work are very hard to track down online.

It does appear as if you have to pay money for the full access...

I would advice all of us to begin asking for scans of his art on sites like Comicartfans, Albert Moy art and so on, because I just made some searches and there's several pieces there.

I think you would all be surprised by how often the owners of the art are prepared to give you a scan if you ask nicely

A visitor theblock on my Deviant-page recommended going to websites

    http://comicartfans.com/

and putting the search-word "Earl Norem"

    Hopefully that helps Stickfa

Well, it's certainly a good idea to give us an idea about how much stuff he's actually done. =)

And those He-man Magazine-covers kick complete butt! Like, full-spectrum butt!

So, let's do it. I'll start with a few cover-scans and post them here.

EDIT: I've got quite a few cover-scans, but they're not the true gold now are they? What Eamon really needs is the original painted art, without a bunch of crap text on it.

Anyways, I'll post them tomorrow, too tired right now.

    Great work Predabot!!!

Please email everything you guys find to: [email protected]
Doesn't matter what size either, although the bigger, the better.

If somebody has any comics they can scan, please scan just Norem's signature and something stupid like 2400dpi!

I'll put in a request over at Conan.com too for some help.

I wonder how many we would need to validate a basic website? 30 pieces?

I'd say 50. And atleast like 10 from different categories.

I'll put what I've got together in a zip-file and send them to you.

First thing I need to do is register a domain.
What say you guys on the name?
    EarlNorem.com
    Norem.com
    theartofearlnorem.com

    ????

    Quite a few are available.

Earlnorem.com sounds good, but the ART of Earl Norem sounds better. You don't really want to hog Earls own name in case he wants to do one himself, do you?

On the one hand... no-one but us fans would ever give the domain-name to him free of charge, should he want it.. hmm..

How close have you come to the goal of 30-50 or so, pieces? How much have you been sent, really?

I could send on some more in a while, but I took a break because it's quite taxing really, to track these down trough the channels I use and then process them for sending to you. XD I've got a question, I've got half-decent scans of the golden books in my possession, in PDF-format. How do I save individual pages from them?

Norem did some of the covers.

Please up the golden images ASAP or email them to me!!! Best thread ever!!! Wish I had a scanner. The only posters I have though I think are in the Poster section for the magazines on this site. To me that stuff is his finest work.

P.S. Did anyone see the art card he did for season 1 volume 2 of the dvds? It's amazing, he re-worked the original cover for the MOTU Magazine. That is my favourite of all his work and to see it redone was quite amazing.
