Yup, saw him working (I think it may have been this very one) with a sketch pad that big when I met him at Supercon 09' . If I had the money I'd commission a Teela pin-up, his back list of commissions were huge talk about a workaholic!

Karla, on behalf of every person who ever was, is or will be a She-Ra fan - THANK YOU for commissioning that glorious sketch Honestly, it's amazing. I knew AH! was crazy talented, but this sketch is truly a work of art. Take GOOD GOOD care of it. Hopefully, someday, it'll be reprinted in a She-Ra art book. That would be awesome.

Her face is just...perfect. You know??? Did you give him any instructions as he was drawing it, or did you just say "She-Ra!" and let him do his thing?

I could go on for a while, so I'll just stop and and say again, thank you!

Thanks!! I am taking THE BEST care of it. It's been scanned, documented and professionally framed.

Adam really is one of the best, and he was really sweet about this piece in particular.
He knew it meant A LOT to me, and I was very patient when it came to getting on his sketch list.

When he finally got a chance to do this piece, I gave him the disc insert from "The Secret of the Sword" and left him to do his magic. I think he gave her the goddess treatment. Which is A-Okay with me!

This piece was done at Heroes Con in 2009.

    MY EYES!

I have no idea how he still gets work. Either he is very charasmatic, incites contraversary or he has numerous bedfellows.

Okay, I can totally understand how THAT one is awful. As for his He-Man, the harness just looks awkward and the sword SHOULD have been the correct sword.

As for the comment about him never drawing feet, well maybe he just can't draw them very well. Not every artist can render every single section of the human body correctly.

I rarely can draw feet or hands very well on the rare occasions I draw fan art. So, my rule on extremities is: If you cannot draw it worth a ****, don't draw it at all.

I think it was Todd McFarlane who once said he isn't very good at drawing the male physique, which is why he draws Spawn in a giant cape all the time, which helps cover up any area he doesn't want to draw. Can't be 100 % on that quote, but it makes sense.

Personally, I'm terrible at the male superhero physique which is why I use a lot of capes and body armor.

So, I usually draw He-Man in any one of his variant armors, like 'Battle Armor', 'Snake Armor', etc.

But, don't knock an artist for "never drawing feet". Would you rather he draw what he really can't too well and have this awkward drawing that looks decent except the feet are abnormally awful??

But, yeah, he shouldn't draw Captain America.

Dude, he's a professional comic artist being paid to do his job. There are people out there who can draw all parts of the human anatomy, and who don't have jobs in the industry, while he is/was considered big time.

In my head, if you have trouble drawing bits, focus and practise. Just hiding them is lazy.

I would rather he try than place a random rock there.

No artist is perfect granted, but this is just criticism. Its part and parcel of being an artist. I'm sure there are people out there who adore his art and fair play to them.

He is an actual comic book artist??? Well, then he probably shouldn't be in the business if he cannot correctly render body parts.

And, that Captain America does look awful. I remember towards the end of when I was reading comics, all of the Marvel ones had these artists who couldn't even render the faces of characters like Cable. YRRCH!

Found this piece of art yesterday and though He-Man looks like our (germany's) woman chancellor Angela Merkel the overall picture is really awesome.
Like a religious painting from medieval times. Esp. Skeletor and little Orko above look great!

The other picture is some kind of beer label featuring a bizzare Tri-Klops and Skeletor.

Both aren't from deviantart but from the superpunch blogspot...

Smart move, Karla, bringing along the interior booklet. I always wonder if artists get insulted when someone offers reference material like that. I'd like to think AH! knows She-Ra by heart, being the awesome, awesome girl she is.

What was the experience like getting on his list? Did you try at various Cons?

Gosh, I still get all happy just thinking about that piece. It's truly spectacular. And it's a SKETCH! Somehow, it doesn't need any more than it already has.

What amazing artwork in this thread! What talent out there!

I'm mostly a fan of more realistic images, as some of the styles I see don't engage me.

But the more recent pictures of Evil-Lyn & Teela are enough to make your nose bleed. And the dynamic captured in Mer-Man vs. Mekanek makes this such an explosive representation!

Pretty cool. Looks pretty spot on to what a painting from that era would look like.

Horrendously stupid image. Right up there with that comic book artist who draws Captain America with strange pectoral muscles atop another set of pectoral muscles.

All I can say about the Adam Hughes Evil-Lyn pic is: HUBBA BUBBA!!!

The MOTU group shot is pretty good. The Teela solo one is great. Always have loved that version of Teela.
