[QUOTE=Adam_Prince of Eternia;1944540]Jitsu is a samurai and Ninjor is a ninja; as with Buzz-Off and Stratos, each character is distinct enough that the characteristic they share is incidental.

Mekanek is a Heroic Human Periscope, characterized by his ability to extend his neck. Extendar is a Heroic Master of Extension, characterized by his ability to extend his limbs, including his neck. How does Extendar not render Mekanek redundant?

I'm 33 years old and I think you showed me the light. You are right on every point and I am wrong on my point of view. I am sorry, and I will leave you with the final word.

I like the UK Comic origin, its a good origin and a good story which runs throughout various issues and storylines.

I am 24 years old APOE, and you have most definitely not showed me the light.

They are two completely different characters, with very different designs and origins, and your attempts to somehow make it seem different as compared to Stratos and Buzz-off seem incredibly heavy-handed and not very thought trough.

With that said, I chose the first pick of origin, being abducted by Hordak and turned into a cyber-warrior, preferrably along with Snout Spout as well.

Altho I really do hate the name DooDoon...

That Mekanek and Extendar are separate characters is not in question. What is in question is whether each character is distinct enough so as to not render the other redundant. The solution of those who do not believe this to be the case is to combine the characters. Your agreement is not required.

I guess the big point that is being missed here is these characters were made keeping in mind who you might need in a time of war. Each character has their own "distinct" ability to help in battle. Examples.

Ram-man: A human battering ram. Instead of using ten men to try to break down a drawbridge, Ram-man is all they need.

Stratos: A man who can fly into the "stratosphere" like a plane and swoop into battle to take out his enemies with amazing speed.

Extendar: A Tower of Power who not only is amazingly strong, but when others might not be able to get over the walls of a castle during times of war, he can do it with ease my extending his limbs. And like in times of war when people used tall "tower" ladders to climb over castle walls, his allies can use him as a human ladder.

Man-at-arms: No explanation is really needed, but in war to have someone with multiple types of weapons to use at his disposal, he is a very useful character.

Jitsu: A very strong martial artist who's hand to hand combat is always needed in a battle situation. Just a side note. He may have carried a Samurai sword, but he in no way resembled or fought as a Samurai, just a nifty weapon to sell with the toy like all the other figures had.

Ninjor: To hide in the shadows and have amazing stealth is another character you will always need to help take out your enemy in the blink of an eye.

Mekanek: One of the most important characters you can have during times of war is your scout/recon character. To know what your enemy is planning and to see where they are and what they are doing is the most valuable information you can have during battle. So to disregard him as not unique enough to stand on his own is a disrespect to all people who do this in war to this day. Turning him into Extendar takes away your most important character during war.

Aa far as I love Extendar with a passion, I love MEKANECK even more... he's just astonishing. It's not because the ability he got, but the terrific appearance (one of the coolest ever) and the paranoid feelings they gave him in the 2002 series.

Said that, the portrayal of Mekaneck in the classic Filmation series was great... and no, Mekaneck and Extendar are two different characters... I just love the abilities of each of them... they are similar but different (Mekaneck is supposed to have a cibernetically-enhanced sight, among the other things).

Plus, Mekaneck has a real superhero appearance... mask/helmet, suit... the shape, the colours... gorgeous.

As far as Extendar is concerned, I love this origin version:

"Doodon—Eternian peasant who is kidnapped and transformed into Extendar by Hordak."
