KIng Grayskull - How many produced by Mattel?

Does anyone know how many were made, sold at the con and sold online? I'm really curious.

Scalpers say 3000 on ebay... Don't know if they asked to someone at Mattel at the SDCC or if it's only to sell their KG faster...

i know they sold out every day at comic con by mid day. i think by noon the first two days. then it sold out on matty.com in a day. so they can not be that many!

I would guess at least 10,000. There are definitely more than any previous Mattel con exclusive.

I think Grayskull had a bigger run than any other MOTU exclusive too, but didn't they make 12 000 She-Ras? I swore I read that somewhere. Can anyone confirm this for me?

It got to be somewhere between 5000-8000 I think

3000 would be way too little, that would be about 600 per day (which a 5hr line is WAY more than 600 figs), people were permitted to buy cases as well that 1st day

And then it took almost half the day to sell out at the mattel store, I should know I had the chance for 5 hours to get one

Keldor was one of the lowest run exclusives (between 3500-5000) and it was split between SDCC and WWC and even had some left over to sell in Germany at TRU and the org

I think... maybe slightly below She-Ra? So a total of 9000 or so, I'd wager.

    But yeah, ask Toyguru.

I thought I read somewhere that they aren't giving out production numbers anymore.

I just sort of assumed something like 10,000. With 1,500 of those being bronze. Nice even number. But that was forgetting that She-Ra had 12,000 made. I would have thought they would have made more of these than they did of her since this was launching a new line and all the hype they put behind it...

It's just that 10,000 is an awful lot of product to sell (sell out of) at one con and on an online site. (after 5 1/2 hours) I'm not even sure if there's enough time to go through that many. I guess it's possible since they did advertise him in the DVDs, but I don't think so.

What do you usually think other con exclusives are made in runs of?

I mean, at first when you think or 10,000, you think thats a lot. But then when I think that is only one for every two+ people in the small city I live in, it doesn't seem like that many.

I would hope the number is more than 10,000 and he still sold out that fast. Then there would at least be a decent size of He-man fans left. Otherwise, that is a little depressing to think about.

Mattel has said they won't reveal this number.

So, I'm gonna close this down just because we won't get a definitive answer.
