Masters of the universe movie teaser poster!!

I've had this done since March but didn't want to reveal untill I saw what feedback it would get at San Diego Comic con.
I am happy to report that it went down very well indeed.

So here ya go! Lets see if this one has as much luck as my Iron Man did.

I do hope you guys like it.

I'm really hoping the have less "space/starwars" in this one and have it more in line with a Lords of the Rings type fantasy epic. I'd love to see you do a poster that reflected that. The two side by side would be an awesome thing to see!

    Awesome.

I like the classic yet re-invented look of the logo. The texture is great as well.

My favorite part is the weight you've given "of the universe."
Too often, that part of the logo looks like a typographic afterthought.

My only suggestion would be to add a splash of color to the logo.
Its looking a bit monotone. Perhaps a little bit of blue or red?

I like the logo... But it feels a little flat or, too plain, or... It just feels like it needs something else in there other than plain steel.

But I do love that it looks like a heavy steel kind of thing, very nice.

    Now that is major cool.
It's great being Lord of the Thundercats - especially hanging out with Cheetara - but the one draw back is that He-Man can still beat me up.

I'm really glad you guys like this and thanks for all the compliments!

Doing a logo like this is not easy and there's so many other factors to consider besides aesthetics and appealing to the fans. Especially if you want to be taken seriously a candidate to do the final logo.
This will in all likleyhood never be used is it's 'unsolicited' but it (hopefully) shows that I got the skills to do it!

That thought did cross my mind but with "Universe" in the title, I felt oblidged to illustrate that. Plus MOTU is part science fiction and has gotta distinguish itself from the very familiar LOTR branding.
That of course is just my opinion, they may want things to look like LOTR. I don't ya see?!.

From a marketing point of view that's not a bad thing!
The TF movie logo is just an amped up version of the same over all shape. I felt it was important to give the MOTU logo that same sort of treatment.

How dare you give me s*** sandwich sir!!

I tried a lot of things on this logo and it took many different versions to end up with this one.
My initial idea was to give the outer bevel a stone texture that was a bit red and the centre face to be a bluish steel. But not only did it look messy, it didn't make sense. I really wanted the logo to make sense, look like something heavy, mighty and above all clear.
You can go to town on different surfaces and colours. But ledgebility in the blink of an eye is the name of the game when it comes to logos that will end up on billboards.
Now, I would like change the surfaces into a less distressed, smoother texture but give it some 'battle damage' which could probably hold more colours better. I just gotta find that surface.
Whatever about the surface, do you think I got the over all shape on the money? Surfaces are easily changed!

The forth dot indicates a longer pause before the announcement of the title.

What about the rest of the sentence then? How would you line the 'power's up and it not be a messy read?

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this poster here, even if you did a more Fantasy one I very likely might still prefer this space one. I'm just saying it would be cool to see one by you like that, the contrast between the two posters would be awesome. You know if you every have extra time on your hands... ok just answered that for myself. aka never going to happen? lol

I think it's a good looking poster for a teaser but like someone said, I would prefer the ads for a MotU movie to show off the blend of medieval and sci-fi. After all that is what MotU is all about. I never liked how the tag lines for the old movie made it sound like they waged war in space...

I love it. The only thing is the "Of The Universe" doesn't quite look right. If you still feel like tweaking this try making that a different font, changing the perspective on it, etc. Otherwise it looks fantastic and I'd love to see something like this hanging in a movie theater.

A forth ellipsis point connects a phrase with a complete sentence.

Left align "the power," then center align the text block so that "the power" is centered; or make "the power to be" a headline, e.g.:

    The POWER To Be . . .

    SUPREME

    ALMIGHTY

    Masters of the Universe

and that sentence is Masters of the Universe!

That would completely mess up the symmetry of the poster and be awkward to read.

    His opinion perhaps...?
I can see where's he coming from though. It is very reminiscent of the opening title for the old movie.

A 3 dot ellipses indicates either missing words or a more dramatic pause than an em-dash. It can also be used like you did at the end to show a "trailing off". I'm not sure why there is an ellipses before your first line of text.

A four dot ellipses is used when you are removing a full sentence and technically it's still a 3 dot ellipses PLUS a period to "end" the missing sentence.

I believe proper grammer would have you get rid of the first one completely and remove 1 period from the last one.

Perhaps! it sound a bit lame to me.
It's supposed to be reminiscent. That's why the words are there!
I know that doesn't sound like someone who can take critism but folks should know by now that I can.

Because, if you remember the old movie, it said "for to those who control Grayskull, become the power..." before "the power to be supreme" and all that.
