Motu Redesign challenge #84 - Point DREAD(!) & the Talon Fighter

The redesign Challenge is back once more, from something of a small hiatus. =)

I've simply had so much going on in my personal life, that I haven't had time for the challenge.

(unemployment, illness in the family, helping out friends with problems, arguing with said friends.
contributing to a local fanzine. might have to make a separate thread about all this)

But rest assured, my devotion to the challenge and it's legacy is still there. And I'll try to devote time
for it again. My goal is still to reach challenge #100 before I feel comfortable in passing the bat on.

This months challenge is a mysterious and mythic place, the fabled POINT DREAD. On an ancient outpost in a remote area of Eternia rests the golden Talon Fighter..

Not much is known about it, other than that it might be as old as the Elders themselves. Capable of great aerial feats,
the Talon Fighter is a great aid to He-man, in the battle for suprmeacy of the air.

Point Dread itself, contains strange aparatus and weaponry, from the ancients of Eternia.
The mysterious outpost has been spotted in several different locations on Eternia, always the same, as if it had always stood there, only to disappear as mysteriously as it had been spotted.

Or is it a thing of perhaps evil? A Stronghold for Skeletor to reign suffering down upon Eternia, from up on high?

Indeed, what is the mystery of.. POINT DREAD, and the TALON FIGHTER?!

The rules are as EVER:
All people who choose to participate will have two weeks to come up with a redesign for this
character. You can use any medium you wish. You can sketch, paint, make a 3-D model,
make a sprite, make a custom action figure, whatever you want. Its entirely up to you!

As well, you don't have to force yourself to make your design conform to the new OR OLD cartoon &
comic book's style. Be as drastic in your redesign as you see fit. Whatever makes you happy.
If you can't think of a new design, or just hate the idea of working on this character,
you do not have to feel obligated to participate in this particular challenge.
You will still be free to participate in any future challenges you wish.

No big differences, because origibnal Talon Fighter is so cool. Sadly my vision of Point Dread shall wait to end part of my fan comic. There should be some supprises I doesn't want to spoil before storyline gets there.

Thanks for the kind words mate. I'd like to try and get it on for a while, but if it starts lagging again, I'll contact you to put together a few challenges.

Pretty cool Talon Fighter there! I see that it is slightly more reminiscent of Zoar in the colour-scheme now.

And I see there's a lot of Three Tower-fans on the .org. Personally I think I'm hoping for the Dream Mistress to win tho'.

thanks iceman but i am a long way from being done.....i want to make it look a bit like roboto...and being a man at arms anad a soceress invention...but i dont know if i got the skills to make that happen...so i hope that you do an entry that knocks peoples socks off

Hey Gatcha! You're starting to become one of the regulars now, that's way cool of you.

So you envision him as sort of a kind of Mecha then? Is he created by Man-At-Arms or someone else contemporary, or is he something left from the time of the Ancients?

None the less, it looks cool. Hmm... Can He-man or Skeletor still ride inside of him, like a sort of Japanese mecha?

yeah i am a regular...if i get votes or not
i just like making characters...and my thoughts were the talon fighter(s) were to be the robot guards of greyskull designed by sorceress and man at arms...

that is why you see her staff symbol it chest...kinda like the generic prison guards you saw in MYP cartoon...

i would suspect he would design other guards too that resemble other egyptian gods/ robots that could be based on other classic MOTU vehicles too...

like a road ripper/sobek robot
the other..maybe not vehicle homages but maybe an homage to something else...

This is a hard challenge for me, I haven't decided it I'm going to enter anything yet. I'd like it I just havn't thought of anything interesting enough to bring to the table. So far I'm liking what I'm seeing though, from Gatch's robot, to the vehicle redesign to this most recent one. All very cool

ok so heres my idea on point dread , makeing it a tall mountain top were a large falcon /phenix lives and in the tower the is orb and he who controls orb can command the talon fighter , and for size ide say he-man is only as tall as his talons

That's pretty cool, the only fully organic entry. No tech whatsoever.

So, how old would you say the bird and the orb are? Like from the time of the Ancients or later perhaps?


On another note, the poll for the next challenge is closed, and it looks like The 3 Towers of Eternia is going to be the next entry in the challenge. And especially interesting to note, is that both NA Teela and Dream Mistress tied for the second place..! 0_0 Looks like we've got the next 3 challenges tied up all neatly and everything.

i was thinking that the orb would be as old as grayskull, and either the bird as old or each one born every couple hundred years but they have the memories of all there race. i guess then we,d need another one for it to breed with or it could be asexual and towards the end of its life lays an egg and dies shortly after it hatches
