I am looking to get one. I read reviews for the ones in the best buy ads which were : tomtom 130 , garmin 205w , tomtom xl330s , magellan maestro 4370, and garmin nuvi 255w. Almost every review said the directions were off by some degree. I'm thinking about getting the 255w because it comes with a case, multicar kit and a free $20 gift card. Anyone had any experience with that one?

I bought a lesser known Mio Moov. It's my first GPS, but am very happy with it!

most newer cell phones have programs. I pay ten dollars a month on mine and it does the same thing as all thiose mentioned. plus...ten bucks a month...I'll have it for years before I get to the same price you pay for one of those.

I bought a Garmin Nuvi and it is great! TomToms have such a horrendous interface but the Garmin is super user friendly.
I say go for a Garmin. -

Agreed, I just got the Garmin nuvi 200 for Christmas and I must say for the price of the unit it is amazing. Does not have a lot of the bells and whistles of other units but as far as navigating goes I don;t believe for the price it can be topped.

My mother's car (an Acura TSX), which I drive when she and I or the family and I go somewhere, has a GPS unit built into it. It's pretty good. I'm pretty good with directions, so I don't tend to use it a lot.

I actually like the Navigon 2100 Max. It has this thing called REALITY VIEW where they tell you what lane to stay in on complex exits. It also has a free lifetime traffic subscription in the box right now, which is handy when there are delays due to accidents, or construction.
Most any GPS these days will be pretty good though. Just make sure you get Text to speech on whichever you decide. Otherwise the announcer doesn't say the street name, and you'll have to take your eyes off the road.The Deviot

I have a Nuvi 350 that I love. They're pretty cheap because they're not the newest, latest and greatest, but they do everything I want... lots of points of interest, good text to speech, etc. I take it with me whenever I travel, even if I don't rent a car because it is awesome for finding restaurants and such.
I just got a Magellan 1400 or something like that free with a new laptop. It arrives next week... I'll let you know if I like that more than my garmin. -
I picked up the Magellan Maestro 4750 for the wife for X-Mas. $250.00 for a 4.3" screen, SD card slot, pc link cable, MSN Traffic Service (for a fee), can text message and plays MP-3, DC/FM adapter, and window suction cup mount. Excellent unit for the price.
