NYCC moves to October starting 2010 - Chicago gets a new Con starting April 2010!

Great news for those of us stuck going to Wizard World Chicago. Hopefully that crummy show will get shut down within 3 years.

Wait what?! So this yaer they move NYCC up to FEB and next to OCTOBER?! so we basically won't have a nyc con for almost 2 years (20 months)... .... ... and they thing this is a good idea why? I'm really confused by this.

I'm thinking they chose October because it'll be around the same time as Toy Fair. That way all the Toy Companies will be up there already, and would likely do both shows. Plus, having the new Chicago one in April will not only spread the promotional company's resources out 6 months apart, but that show will get the jump on Wizard World Chicago, whose turnout has been going downhill, partially due to its calendar closeness to SDCC.

Its not that I really care that its going to be in October... in fact I am glad in the sense that it will be permanent and stop moving around. But... 20 months before a new CON... :-(

If they were thinking of doing this why did they move this years up to feb... it would have made more sense to move this years back a month so we only had to wait like 14 or 16 months.

Sigh, why couldn't New York get April? It's usually a bit warmer then.

Ahh well, at least it's not February or December, and I am glad they have a set date.

Keep in mind there is always Anime Next, or the Big Apple Con

i am really glad about this. i wish they would just call it Chicago comic con(triple C!!!!)but i am sure they cant call it comic con due to legal issues(die WWCC!!).

it will be nice to have one MAIN con each quarter to anchor everything for that season. the main cons won't feed off/cannibalize each other now.

i dont think it will kill or hurt the smaller cons. if anything having a steady con season should help them since guests can plan more accordingly.

Looks like I know what Im doing for my birthday next year.

Wizard decided from this year on to use the Comic Con name

Personally I hate the idea of the Con in April, I am in school so the summer months were prime time for vacation.

So I will just keep going to WWC as long as its still around

yeah this is what i was alluding to. i hated the fact that the transformers convention couldnt be called BOTCON cause the name was tied up, instead they called it something 20 letters long they could have at least came up with a good acronym for the convetion

EXACTLY what i was thinking. i really hate how they ran their events.

hopefully they will stop doing it after next year and then the name can be sold so that the C2E2(ha sounds like a SW droid) can be in the comic-con (CC) family.
