The 2002 logo was meant to be a reboot of the original, NOT to emulate the original logo, so the two shouldn't be compared against one another.

Did you have to emphasize the Mas . Ters break?

    Why?
Reboot or not reboot, one is more effective than the other, as I designer I should be able to tell what works better, especially in relation to the brand. The 2002 logo instead of adding details (like the new figures) is more simple and fonts aren't used as good as in the 80ies.

Did you have to emphasize the Mas . Ters break?

I also have no idea what you're trying to point out there.
But you're aware that Emiliano's logo looks just like the vintage one in this area, right?

EDIT: Oh you mean why there is a "split" in the letters of the MAS and TERS part, like the vintage logo has?
I think it looks good this way. Because if you also combine the "...ST..." part (there's already a connection of "...RS" !) that would make it look even more STAR WARS-ish:

It's well done. Really well done, no doubt.
But I ain't sure if it would work as a movie logo.

For the MotU Classics? Hell yeah! Use that logo along with some good-looking retro background, and it would fit perfectly for the retro figures! But for a movie, I wonder if this logo wouldn't shout "80s brand" too much.

I actually think that (despite not working at all for a movie,) Mattel's MotUC logo is quite good in terms of taking elements from the old one and changing them into something "fresh". This logo here though looks like it's coming straight out of the 80s, which would be fine for a retro toyline, but IMO not so much for a movie that most likely would put the brand into a new direction.

    It's looking far more cleaner!

I would've happily had this logo over the plastic looking, lackluster one we got for MOTUC.
Ya don't make a logo for a fantasy brand that looks as though it's made from plastic man!!

Incredible work. As a Graphic Designer myself I really have to applaud you on your work, its breathtaking. The details incorporated into the logo really make for a real piece of art. The brushed steel, the weathering and cracking, use of light and reflection, it all just makes an enormous impact.

It's wonderful, I love it! You used the right colors! Red, not orange, blue not cyan! Oh, how I've missed them! I totally agree, the 200X logo was inferior to the original and it can certainly be compared since it was the intended brand logo.

in regards to comparing the 200X logo to the original, why on earth would you not compare the 2?

if i had hired a designer to relaunch a product, and they didn't take into account what worked and didn't with the original, and how the logo will reflect what did work while brining it up to date for a new audience i'd fire them. thats design 101

Mainly the 80's logo nowadays means "Nostalgia! NOSTALGIA!! Forget anything new! Nostalgia all the way!" Is that the message you want to send to the fans of the 2002 show?

Yes, that break between the S and the T is a tremendous eyesore.
As for the Star Wars connection, not really. Mas . Ters, when you look at it, has all the other letters connected as if they were one complete, fluid motion. That break not only ruins the fluid motion, it also breaks the word in two, like a space. Hence, "Mas . Ters break"

You seem to be the only person that gets mightily bugged by this. To be honest I never really noticed it before. It doesn't read as Mas Ters either because there is no space between the them. It's a slight break to make the letters a little more legible.

Yeah I don't see it either. The S and T are connected from the top.

For there to be a "breaking space", it would take the atleast the size of a half-a-letter to make definition. Including top and bottom part, as far as I look at it.

    Hum, yes, of course!
The 2002 show is still ispired by the original MOTU series.
    It's still a nostalgia show!
It really confuses me when people act and talk like the 2002 was something totally separated from the original series.

But, a mediocre design is still a mediocre design.
Besides, this logo was intended fo the MOTUC, not the 2002 so I don't get why we're debating on the 2002 series

Funny - I've been admiring Emiliano's logo all day and in an odd way it's actually making me appreciate the MOTUC logo that Mattel has right now.

I think it's because it's clear that heart, soul and a lot of work went into Emiliano's logo to really update the classic logo but keep it old school too. It's brilliant. Then I look at the Mattel MOTUC logo and feel now that a lot of thought and time must have gone into it as well. The MOTU logo is iconic and capturing the simplicity of it while updating it, I can only imagine sounds much easier said then done.

While both Emiliano and Mattel's new logos are different, I find myself now appreciating them both uniquely.

Thanks again Emiliano - I LOVE this logo.
