i've lurked off and on for a number of years, and figured the site redesign launch was as good as a time as any to show my support with money. here's some random information about my habit...
i just recently realized how i got into comics (retail day job, lettering freelance): MOTU mini-comics, especially alcala and texiera. i'd like to letter some official MOTU comics someday.
growing up, i didn't like how he-man didn't change into prince adam in the live action movie (in addition to not caring for most of the character redesigns, and various other things), but now i actually prefer the pre-prince adam canons in the first 10 or so mini-comics.
i think i prefer battle armor to original he-man, but it may be because my original had an accident in a tonka cement mixer that broke his leg band, so i only had the battle armor left. it may also be because i don't care to see quite as much of a man's chest that the original shows off.
i don't mind ice armor he-man (a vintage-by-way-of-MOTUC figure would be amazing). unlike some, i think ice armor skeletor was not only a nice redeco, but he was actually far superior to fire armor skeletor.
all this talk about he-man, and i'm also someone who likes MOTU despite he-man, not because of him. i understand his generic nature, but as an adult, it bores me.
in the past few months i've also found the joy that is looking at all types of fuerza-t figures online... and recently won a few on ebay for not too horrible prices so i can look at them in person. 2 of the 3 were ones i really, really wanted, too: tekno and carnivor. (i don't like the smoothed out furry trunks on the heroes, though).
i'm looking forward to having some custom fuerza-t classics made when i can get ahold of couple more beast-man figs... and the announcement of webstor means i get classics carnivor even sooner!!!
webstor's arch enemy, naturally, should be clamp champ. i never had clamp champ growing up, so i'd like a classics sooner rather than later. next may would be nice.
if we get a variant mini-comic trapjaw, it shouldn't just be a redeco of the same figure, it should have the standard furry trunks and boots. (i'm really throwing a lot of my opinions out there as if any cares, aren't i?)
back in the summer of 1997, i wore my vintage he-man truckers cap (blue mesh with white foam) regularly.
i'm also a transformers fan, and beast wars got me back into it (the agenda parts 1-3, an transmetals cheetor). i've also increased my battle beast collection by more than i had as a kid. it wasn't hard to do since i didn't have too many.
i like and respect 200X, but i think classics is what i've been waiting 20+ years for. i didn't care much for PoP toys growing up since they were nowhere near as awesome as teela and evil-lyn. as for NA, i looked at it long enough to know the figures didn't match my old MOTU stuff, so i passed. i'm looking forward to them in classics!
i also recently realized she-ra entertains me much more than he-man as a cartoon.
captain america is one of my favorite comic book characters, and jimmy cheung is an awesome artist.
i wrote way more than i planned on writing... wow.
