NEW Fan-Art Project! MOTUC / Alcala! Sign-ups!

Well folks, my motivation to do art is up and I’m steadily working on “stuff” but I, along with Baena, have decided to also host a MOTUC Fan-Art Project to give ourselves a major MOTU kick in the butt!

This years’ style is ALFREDO ALCALA!!!

So, as per the previous projects, please sign up with whom you would like (either by posting in this thread or PM'ing me.) First come, first served.


The Rules:

1. You will be assigned a pose via a private messaged link. Do NOT show this to anyone and do NOT post work in progresses or completed pieces. We like to unveil the final piece as a surprise.

2. Only “inked” line art is required (must be clean!) I will be colouring all submissions to create a uniform look and feel.

3. The design is MOTUC. No deviations please.

4. Your character must be drawn in the style of Alfredo Alcala (early mini-comics) and must be no smaller (or larger) than 1000px x 1000px

5. All submissions will be e-mailed to [email protected]

Well, this is certainly a very, very ambitious Project!

I would actually be a bit worried if you will be able to pull together the artists that can tackle such an advanced and realistic style, but a quick glance at the list certainly reveals that this may just actually come together quite nicely!

I'm already mucho impressed, Ric. Can't wait to see the finished result.

Not sure if you got my PM , Slo. Put me down for Webstor. Although I'm not sure how I'll fare with Alcala style. But it's worth a try atleast. This is going to be epic for sure.

Well I can't be letting you dudes having too much lime light now can I?

It'll be a nice break from drawing chicks and I've always wanted to do something with you and Sllohcin!

Plus it's gonna be an interesting challenge trying to draw like an Alcala knowing that it will also need to work with Sllohcin's style of colouring. So no cross hatching or large black shading.

This should be fun.
I got my Alcala Swamp Thing books on stand by ...

I don't know that it's definite that it'll be Sllohcin's style of colouring.
Maybe it'll be the watercolor washes that Alcala did on the minicomics?

You do know I was gonna nab Teela before you got to her!
I'm quite excited about He-man now though.

When Sllohcin said he was colouring the whole thing, I just assumed he'd be doing it in that grad/cel shed style he does. I see that I wrong!
This is cool! Full-on Aclala it is then!

Really looking forward to this.

And on a side, Dragon's Gift is probably my favorite of the mini-comics.

It's in my top 5 for sure. It's a classic MotU tale for certain!
It's refreshing to see good stories that don't deal with the same old stand by of Skeletor attacking Grayskull.
(However I'm surprised at how I really don't tire of that too much. )

If Battle Cat get available I want it. O.k?

Nope, sorry Jaz... but everybody was really quick with sign-ups. I was just slow updating the thread and went back and checked who opted in first. Unfortunately a few people beat you to it.

I think either Masks of Power or Siege of Avion are my favouite Alcala minicomics. There's just something about the way he draws monsters and demons that I love.
Plus there's a vibe there that's so special compared to other MOTU media!
