Motu Redesign challenge #90 - HUNTARA!

The toughest, roughest, most hands-on lady of all of MotU and PoP finally gets her due.
This bounty-hunting babe only appeared in one single episode of PoP,
wherein she was tricked by Hordak to take on She-Ra herself, but she has remained a fan-favourite ever since.

And now.. it's time to reintroduce her for a new millenium. =)

Huntara hails from the alien world Silax, and is reportedly modeled after Grace Jones!
Created by Larry Ditillio, the pro-lific writer liked the character so much that he wrote a sequel called
"the Silaxian Wars", which was sadly never produced.

Read more about the lady in question here:

Btw, I've noticed while surfing online for info on Huntara, that she does NOT have a Wiki-page...! 0_0
If anybody is up for it, I'd love to see one... =)

    The rules are as EVER:
All people who choose to participate will have two weeks to come up with a redesign for this
character. You can use any medium you wish. You can sketch, paint, make a 3-D model,
make a sprite, make a custom action figure, whatever you want. Its entirely up to you!

As well, you don't have to force yourself to make your design conform to the new OR OLD cartoon &
comic book's style. Be as drastic in your redesign as you see fit. Whatever makes you happy.
If you can't think of a new design, or just hate the idea of working on this character,
you do not have to feel obligated to participate in this particular challenge.
You will still be free to participate in any future challenges you wish.

This challenge seems to be a bit on the slow side, now dunnit'?

Munky: Yeah, it's pretty obvious once you see it laid out, now isn't it? Especially with the concept-art saying she's supposed to be black!

Here are the pencils for my redesign...

I kept a lot of things from the original design, but tweaked them a little. The top is the same, except I removed the shoulder pads and added the triangle design elements. The arm bracelets are the same. I obviously gave her a new and funky hair style (inspired by Grace Jones). I added a tribal skirt to the design. I added Aboriginal/200X Zodac skin markings, as well as a tribal shield. I will hopefully have time to ink and color her this weekend.

Unfortunately I don't have time to come up with one for this round, but I'm really surprised with how few enteries this has so far.

If you keep your pencils relatively clean, I can do some simple clean-up and do the colouring for you, mate. Just let me know what you see the colour-scheme to be, if you take me up on the offer.

Welcome back to the challenges Gorby!! ^^ Glad to have you back, man. Yours look very heavily inspired by african culture, I must say. It fits very naturally for this character, which IMHO doesn't come as such a big surprise.

Sad to hear that, Avril. =( But why not give it a go anyway? Even if you don't have time to complete it, drawing Huntara should still be a fun exercise, right?

Glad to have you onboard block! ^^ Scrollos is from the UK comic. He has the ability to see almost everything in the Universe, further enhanced by all this crazy machinery he has.

He basically knows EVERYTHING about EVERYONE. ; ) Even machinery and equipment.

    http://bustatoons.blogspot.com/2006/...-uk-cameo.html
    http://bustatoons.blogspot.com/2006/04/watooom.html

He basically introduced the readers of the book to the origin-stories of a lot of the characters.

He doesn't actually appear in the flesh until very late in the book tho... And I hear we actually get to see his face then too! You see... Scrollos is an elusive character, always seen from the back and slightly angled, so we don't know exactly what he looks like until that one appearance that I think he made.

    http://www.he-man.org/primary_sects/...re_uk_17.shtml

Finding pictures of him is extremely hard! I think we're going to have to put our trust in Jukka or Eamon to scan some of their comics if we're going to get any. I think one of the FEW who has those final issues where he appears in the flesh, and has actually seen what he really looks like, is Dr Omega. Apparently he did a custom fig of him a few years back.

I think you did a good job Avril. If you want to, I can put some colour on her? What kind of colour-scheme do you see her having?

Yeah, I tried to push it a little into a sort of samurai/ninja look. Just to mix it up a bit since a lot of people were going tribal.

Me like indeed! You've got a fairly unique sort of futuristic style going for her. Hard to tell any perticular kind of earth-based cultures influence on her design.

Is she wearing more or less cloth tho...?
