It dawned on me that while I have been reading this forum for ages (first as a lowly lurker and then as a poster) that I have never done the "intro bit".

Ok, let's resolve that (I'll be mercifully quick too!)

First off, I just turned 50 so I am a LOT older than most of you. While classic MOTU premiered on TV originally for me after I had graduated college, I found an instant attraction to it. The style was like the stuff that I grew up on (Herculoids, Space Ghost etc...) but with a richer mythology than I had ever experienced before. It was a world I wanted to learn about (and live in if I were given a choice).

To make a long story short, I "adopted" the MOTU world even though I was not its target demographics (being a 60's/70's kid, rather than an 80's kid). I "collected" the original line back in the day as opposed to getting them for birthday/holidays.

Flash forward a few decades (creak...) and I hear about the new MOTUC line.. There isn't a moment's hesitation for me. I"ve been lucky so far, not only surviving the red screen of death but managing to acquire every regular figure except Grayskull (and I'll get him when he's reissued eventually, rather than pay big prices!).

So that's a mini-version of my story. While I grew up with things some of you have only heard of (Captain Action, GI Joe Adventure Team and much later, Mego's), I have found a great fondness and admiration for the MOTU world in general (and the fantastic MOTUC figures in particular).

I am impressed by the really talented folks here who can customize and draw (Envy, envy) and find that he-man.org is warmer and more hospitable than ANY forum I know (and I go to several).

Ok, I'm NOT a "grumpy old dragon" (like a beloved similarly aged member here), but due to my years, I guess I'm a silver haired sorcerer instead.

BTW, in the "real world", I'm a transplanted Big City New Englander now living in a small WV/KY border town, married for 12 years to a VERY understanding wife (who shares my love for things Eternian) and a Sr. Mgt / MIS consultant.

So, see there... the magic of Eternia even effects us "older" fans...

(If they make an Eldor, that's an obvious purchase for me!)

Glad to be Aboard! (Hmm ... wasn't this supposed to be brief?)

Great to know that Motu has such a rich mythology that it can really appeal to anyone, with any age and anywhere in the globe.
Welcome to the boards is what I can say to you, and I hope you are enjoying MOTUC as much as I am

    excellent name-drops...

    Herculoids!

WV/KY! Which town are you in?
(I grew up on Huntington TV programming, being from Wheelersburg OH)

I have plenty of kinfolk from them thar' parts.

I also just sold a BIG JIM PACK leader doll I found at a Portsmouth Antique store. Did you ever get into those back in the day?

He fetched some good coin for me on eBay

    Thanks for the welcome, guys!

I'm actually in Kenova which on the WV/KY line. Huntington is the closet "larger town" to us (in WV) and Ashland is the closest one in KY. (It's ironic since I grew up in a city in the shadow of Boston,MA which dwarfed almost anything near me now several times over. LOL)

Yeah, I was really a big Herculoids fan "back in the day" (so you can see the obvious attraction to the world of MOTU). So in MY universe, their world is somewhere near Eternia, of course! Seeing classic MOTU for the first time at college age was a great discovery for me that they DO make things like they used to, and in the case of classic MOTU, even better!!

Didn't have any Big Jim's but I'm an uber DC/Marvel superhero fan so back then it was Captain Action/Mego's for me (and today of course it's DCUC and a few other lines to a lesser extent).
