I just thought. Don't we usually have the vote for the next challenge going on whilst the submissions are being posted? or is that just my brainium playing tricks with me?
My art blog... sometimes I even post something!
Usually we do, Seraphyn. But sometimes there's a really close call between the winner and second-place in those polls, and then I just run with the runner-up for the next round. So, the next challenge will be the... EVIL MUTANT COMET WARRIORS!
Interesting. How come you chose to make him younger tho? Or is this perhaps when he's just starting out, with his calling to watch all of Eternia?Really like how you made the colour-scheme here dude, mixing in some gold with the blue and PURPLE. Purple is often utilized mostly for villains, it would seem.
I see that you also sort of added the star there. Something is a-glowin' underneath that hair-fringe of his.
Super-great colouring man! It just binds everything up and the character finally comes truly to life. Excellent job.
I see that you also kept his mystery in your bio, only revealing the smallest smidgen more about the legend of Scrollos.![]()

Good eye about the star! I made him appear young because I'd designed him to go in the same continuity as the Keeper of Time, a wise bearded immortal gar who possesses all the knowledge of eternity. I saw Scrollos as more of a student, seeking to learn more and sharing what he learns as he goes. He might appear, like the Watcher in Marvel comics, to He-Man with an urgent mission that he's just learned about himself, while the Keeper of Time wouldn't talk to anyone unless they came to him first. Also, I thought it'd be a little different to have a younger looking character in a role associated with knowledge. He's not quite as young as he looks, but he has a young and eager spirit. I agree, purple tends to be used on villains more in MOTU.
I think it's important to keep Scrollos' face obscured as he was in the comics.
I think I'm liking Seraphyn's to most so far.

WHOAAAH!!![]()
We've actually gone past the two week deadline several days ago! And not even I noticed...
Well, I'm putting on an automatic one-week extra on the deadline, because I happen to know that there are a few guys who said they are working on a Scrollos, so I would like to see them get it done.
One of those guys are actually... ME!Yeah, I've got this simple addition to Scrollos design that I've had in my mind for the longest time. Guess it's about time I got that out of my system.
NEW DEADLINE IS SATURDAY THE TENTH (10) OF SEPTEMBER!
hopefully this is in time?
here's my entry (even though i think Seraphyn's will annihilate everyone else in the polls!)
The reference pictures of Scrollos all had slightly different color schemes, but almost all of them included some element of blue/cyan or purple/magenta. However, the picture that struck me the most had an all-green color scheme. At first I tried to combine the various color schemes, but that was too complex a task for me. I settled on the green scheme, which I'm content with.
On the whole, everything in the picture is supposed to give a sense of a character who is powerful, but aloof and preoccupied with knowledge and information. The floating scrolls and holographic displays are there to emphasize the contrast between science fiction and fantasy that makes me so fond of MOTU. Inserting some of my previous art into the holographic displays took me a surprisingly long time. Hopefully the details are visible enough to warrant the time spent.

Gah this is gonna be tough. I'm loing the details of Bootlegs a lot, the floating panels and scrolls.

Thats rad Bootleg. Very classic. lovely.

Bak-or I think you nailed it!
Bootleg, awesome! I love the 3D displays!
I tried out mine with the shadow mask kind of feature, but I think he just looks like he's in black face.
I'll stand by my version with his face intact. I don't think the shadow effect defines the character, I see that as just a tease for his eventual reveal.

You're definitely in time!I've been busy with a deadline for a fanzine I'm a co-editor of so I missed that this was the deadline I set myself...
I've been working a little bit on an entry myself, but it's not done yet, I'm afraid. Thinking about opting out and letting the rest of you guys finally get to the deadline.
( mine only changes a few details, but alas...)
Is there anyone else there anyone else that wants a shot at Scrollos, or do we call it a day?
Nice drawings but if his face isn't obscured by shadow or like what gbagok did then it's not Scrollos to me.
Can folks please, REMBER TO REMOVE THE IMAGE WHEN QUOTING ON THE SAME PAGE!!!
There are certain folks who consistantly do it despite warnings.
So.... is this one finished then?
My art blog... sometimes I even post something!
Nah. I'm keeping it open until I can get my own entry in. But I've got one heckuva' cold, three comic-pages and one cover to get trough before I can do that...
FINALLY DONE!!
I've been struggling with both work( internship, really. Not actually hired...) and the stuff I do for a fan-mag called Swedish Super-Comics which I'm an assistant Editor of.
But, tonight I finally got an opening so my design of Scrollos is finished. With this piece also comes a promise: I will never ever hold up a challenge like this again. If I have an idea that I want to show, I won't do a drawing like this. Either I'll just disqualify myself ( which IMHO, is of course how it should be) or I'll just write a little bit of text.
So! Ready for the polls, lads?
PS: I forgot to write it in, but the circuit-pattern inside his cloak is a matrix that absorbs cosmic energy and converts it into energy that can sustain him. He needs neither food nor water because of it, allowing him to observe 24/7.
I love Scrollos (the name sounds strange in italian language...).
The gleam of the Power Sword lights your way as you enter the fantastic world of Eternia...
