When did some fans start using Disco Skeletor and stop using Acid Trip Skeletor? :-D

As long as I've been around, Acid Trip Skeletor was the popular nickname for our favorite/not-so-favorite crazy colored Skeletor repaint.
Heck, we even put it to a vote back in the day when no one could figure out what to call it and there were nicknames everywhere, and I don't even remember Disco on the list of option (it may have been there, I just don't recall). Acid Trip was what most fans decided on.

So... Disco...? No offense to folks using it, it's just that that nickname doesn't really fit.
He doesn't have a disco ball, he's wasn't posed in a disco stance in his package, etc.

I mean, call him what you want, most folks do.
I'll always call him "Acid Trip Skeletor" as that seems to be what he is: an acid induced nightmare.
    But... why Disco?
    I don't get it.

Probably because of the various colors of light reflecting off a disco ball.

People have referenced him as "Disco Skeletor", etc. before. The furthest I get results for Disco Skeletor is 2005.

But, forget the disco... we need an official Skelepimp!

I thought he was originally being called Rave Skeletor around here. I for one have always loved him and would actually welcome the repaint in the MOTUC line. Since Matty asked if we would be interested someone should start a poll for it.

    Tallstar:
    A dunno...

    Mern-Ra:
I thought it was funny, but since he's not just the colors of the cereal, that's where that one lost me.

    hhhelmsley:

    xBBestx:
Ah yes, Rave Skeletor, I remember that one more.
That may be where Disco derived from.

    Shadow:
Skelepimp is still pimpin' over here on my shelf!

Geez, and actually, I imagine an actual Pimp Skeletor figure would probably sell like hotcakes for the novelty alone.

I think the disco skeletor name came out because of the gold outfit, in the disco days gold sparkly jumpsuits were pretty standard for performers.
not a disco song, but you gotta admit, looks like Skelly's tailor was inspired!

maybe we should rename him Sha-na-na Skeletor.

I'd say He-Ro before I'd say the Skeletor repaint.

i am not sure there ever WAS a name that everyone called him. he had a few names, not all of which i can repeat here.

i think pixel dan's ask matty was just the first to bring it up for awhile and mattel actually answered it. i guess that should be the official name now since mattel didnt even question which figure he was talking about

    Disco Skeletor

    Hi,
I was wondering If anybody can tell me who exactly is Disco Skeletor. I have been hearing about him, but I have no clue as what edition or repain of Skeletor he is. It would be greatly appreciated If someone could tell me. Also If someone has a pic of him, it would be great as well.

I have been wondering the same thing. I have never seen a picture of Disco Skeletor before and would love to see what he looks like.

Disco Skeletor (unofficial informal name) is a 200x figure, a repaint of the regular Skeletor, in hideous gold and black colours.

Considered by many to be one of the things that helped kill the line.

I don't have a pic, but when you finally see him... All I can say is that it must be what it's like to be on some serious drugs! He's beyond words...
I'm hoping for a Disco Skeletor for the next subscription exclusive! Fully flocked!

Or more likely, the folks at Mattel were on drugs when they thought that people would buy this rubbish, a garish repaint, and happily forego hard-to-find figures such as Teela, Adam and Zodak.

I think we need to make it very clear that we do not want Disco Skeletor...or higher taxes. I think we can win one of those.

We should work out a deal with Mattel in which they promise not to crank that monstrocity out until the line is dead. At that point, after everything else, from secured Filmation characters, Fearless Photog, Strobo, Queen Marlena, Meteorbs, Gwldor, Twistoid, Rotar, and every figure from NA, POP, and whatever else they can throw at us, then, mark the end of it all with Disco Skelly.

(Let it be duly noted that I would love Classics versions of each and every one of the above listed toys.)

Totally with you! We never want to be reminded of this terrible creation.

What were they even thinking when they released Disco Skeletor in the first place?!
