The fact that Mattel has made an Adora figure, period, will draw many customers.
I would rather have what's in the promo than nothing at all

I mean you are promoting the item, and from fan reaction...it isn't that great. Why promote a figure that is so much less than the prototype....it is like buying a DVD, getting home and the movie is a bootleg filmed in theaters....doesn't make you very happy
I wouldn't say its quite like that. We will not know for sure until we
actually see Adora for ourselves, in hand or atleast a few reviews.
Realistically, I wasn't expecting it to be nowhere near the prototype
    anyways.

Eh. She looks like a 1950s housewife.

I think the biggest thing people should be worried about is if her plastic outfit restricts most movement due to being too hard like Teelas is. What a fail that is.

Her torso is small compared to her legs. It's not as noticeable on Teela, but it's pretty glaring on Adora. Might just be the grandma panties look. But I think overall the legs are too long compared to the standard torso. Longer outfits would make it less noticeable.

Her hair also looks like she won't be able to move her head much at all.

He-Ro and King Grayskull were the only ones to wield The Sword of He. All the others were heroic guardians who were protecting the sword and trained by The Goddess to keep the two halves separated, until the day that Adam would claim the sword.

but if Etheria is one of light or like Eternia of light and dark, how did it get there in the first place? since Despondos is a dimension of misery. i'm guessing it was drawn in somehow hundreds or thousands of years before.

plus is Hordak and his henchmen immortal from his magic from old age? Adora aged at a regular pace and i thought that Despondos was a timeless dimension. kind of like the void that the Snakemen were imprisoned in.
In the original story for MOTU, the planet Eternia was held in a timeless limbo; the result of tremendous energies being unleashed during the great war between the ruling sorcerers and scientists which destroyed them both. Apparently beings from other worlds would be cast into this time warp and take refuge on Eternia. So, perhaps Etheria wasn't always inside the Dimension of Despondos.

    Zodac's card doesn't have He-Man or Skeletor.

As for He-Ro. -- Perhaps it's for the best that he's not tied to The Stone of Protection. At least this way they can come up with something totally new.

    I am sooo diasppointed...

I'm a HUGE POP fan and waited 23 years for this figure. The head in the new pictures is way thinner, it's too narrow and she looks cross-eyed. Her mouth looks sour and her chin is I don't know... weird. My biggest dissapointment is she totally lost the Filmation look she had at SDCC, that was perfect! Why on earth did you change it? That was Adora! You really nailed it down with that wider face, this.... I don't know.... it's a stranger haha.

And the sculpt of her hair was also much better at SDCC, now it has these ugly edges and overal just looks cheaper. Also very dissapointing the bottom of her skirt, or how should I call it, hasn't changed. That was the only thing that DID need change.

The reason I decided to start buying MOTUC was mainly because it would have figures from POP. Now if this sets the standard for the POP figures in this line, can you imagine my dissapointment?

    I wanted this head...

    Am I worried? Absolutely not.

Every single figure since Skeletor has looked a little weird to me in the photos. And every single figure has arrived looking more beautiful than I could ever imagine.

Teela's eyes looked dead in the pics. In person, she is the most beautiful action figure I have ever seen.

I eagerly anticipate Adora. She will be wonderful!
I so hope your right and she turns out to be more/exactly like the SDCC version when I have her in my hands.

Recently I've been trying to stay away from advance pictures such as these. I like to remain excited about a figure until the 15th of each month. With Adora though, I couldn't stand it. I saw the news of her packaged images on the front page of the Org, and couldn't resist taking a gander at the images... she's the figure that I've looked forward to the most thus far.

I should have trusted my instincts and not looked, because...

Lighting issues aside, the figure represented in these advance images seems to be almost a complete 180 degree turn from the version of her which was on display at comic con (I saw it in person at the convention). Even if the lighting and the pose were improved in these advance pics, the figure would still be disappointing (light it however you want and shoot it from whatever angle you want, but a poorly executed figure is still a poorly executed figure, even if it was expensive to tool).

The prototype version (or whatever version it was that was shown at the convention) seemed so much better. I thought it was beautiful. I understand that there are going to be differences when it comes time to mass produce a figure, but this is... almost embarrassing? I don't know... Regardless, I wouldn't want that figure in my collection. It's not good work (IMO). I hate that it's happening to Adora too, seeing as how she never had a figure of her own, ever... and now that she does, the execution is very lacking (again, IMO... I'm trying to be careful with my wording). It's a toy, and not the end o' the world by any means, but... just vastly disappointed. My mouth actually dropped and a muffled, "Wow" escaped. I think it's easily the worst and cheapest looking figure in the line thus far. Definitely not worth the $28.

Mattel, I love ya, but an honest criticism:

-Dull colors. Extremely dulled down from the San Diego version. They need to be much brighter and vibrant.

-Lack of skin tone variations, especially on the face.

-The hair needs some light and dark color variations... right now (again, at least from the pics), it looks like a big glob of yellow Play-Doh was stuck on her head.

-The mouth... as another member mentioned, it seems like more of her teeth are showing here in these pics, giving her a buck-toothed appearance.

-The sword's jewel. Very cheap looking, like something that came out of a bubble gum machine.

-Her eyes. She seems cross-eyed, and it also seems as if her pupils are positioned higher than on the San Diego version... making it also appear as if her eyes are rolling back into her head. I thought the same thing when I saw the advance images of He-Ro. When I actually purchased a He-Ro figure and had it in hand, behold, he was cross-eyed.

-Her waist/hip area. As is, the hemline, as others have been mentioning for several months, probably could've used a more aesthetically pleasing execution.

    Respectfully, "That's all."

    River, I couldn't agree more.

On the positive side I do love her Bio. It almost completely follows her origin story of Secret of the Sword. The only thing I find weird is that Etheria now lies in the dimension of Despondos. Is that just because Hordak was banned there (in the MYP cartoon), because in the She-Ra cartoon Etheria it's not floating in a horrible dimension haha. Any thoughts on this or explainations?

I'll be getting her because I have a subscription, but as I'm not a POP fan I'm not really interested in her. But I hope Adora fans won't be disappointed.

I think it will help to improve the overall look if they made it so there's no gap between the iris' and lower lids.

    Ok... it΄s done finally !

I never expected her fig and bio this morning.... and then i was shocked first by those photos. But after i went trough all 9 pages, i decided to wait and see.
Guess, the photo of her front is disgusting ( banish it to the dimension of... i don΄t know just out of our eyes ..reminding me on Teela΄s Grandma Promophoto )... well very bad. The one of her side-face is much better IMO. I hope TG is right and they will fix some stuff. Her eyes are very displaced. I was very lucky with He-Ro ( no cross eyed, perfect paint job and stone color that i wanted ) ..... come on ... hope to have this luck again. Like her bio !

At last.. we will see the final Adora in January ...

I am quite pleased with it. As it is a mass produced figure, and I didn't really expect it to look 100% like the prototype. It could defenently use some work for sure, but all in all, if this is the final product, I'm still buying multiples.
Adora will be the first figure I buy multiples of. I have two Teelas, but one was a gift. And they have two different heads, so she don't count

Seriously, I see where your all coming from, but after 25 years, I'm just so glad we have an Adora in any form. She'll do. At least for me

YEAAAAH, I'M SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY WITH ADORA (but I'll fix her painted face when I get my own).
Folks, the final head is accurate like the prototype, you canno't see the details because the prototype is mat and the final figure is plastic (see He-Man)
Oooh, I love the PoP logo!!!!

Adora, having been trained by Hordak her entire life, because this she assumes the leadership of the Great Rebellion.
There's an important part of her story does'nt mentioned in her bio: she was the Horde's Captain Force, trained in the Fright Zone controlled by an evil spell (ok, here you can't mention Shadow Weaver, but you can sjay just evil spell).

    Now I can't wait to see She-Ra!!!

I thought that too at first, but the buckle has been at the back in every photo of her so far, including the prototype. Plus in the cartoon the holster is on her left hip.

I don't mind that she isn't THE leader. She was a sworn enemy after all. Also She-Ra probably has more influence than Adora does.

I never understood the 'need' for the evil spell. You were RAISED by Hordak... Why do you need a spell to turn you into a jerk. I guess I never liked the 'innate' goodness so many characters have. Like Superman. Raised by the kind farm people into a good man, every elseworlds ends the same way. Whether he was raised by the amish or even Darkseid he still ends up being a good guy inside...

Be different if she was a teenager or somethign when she was taken... but If Hordak can't raise a baby to be evil... I loose a lot of respect for the man

Teela came out looking just as good as her prototype. Pity that Adora looks completely different. Release the SDCC figure, and I'll buy it, possibly two. This new Adora is a total pass. Adora's face at SDCC was stunning. This one, not so much.

The figure especially compared to the SDCC one is a major step down and a disappointment to me, particularly respecting the head sculpt and she appears bottom heavy and awkward. Her bio, while good has a "her her" statement which could be easily fixed and phrased better. Also the "She therefore..." sentence would read better (IMHO) as "Therefore, she...":

When Adora and her twin brother Adam were born, the Sorceress recognized they were the twins prophesized to wield the Power of Grayskull. Therefore, she magically cloned the Sword of He, enhancing it with the Stone of Protection so that each twin could have a key to unlock the Power. But Hordak also learned of the twins and arranged for his Eternian pupil Skeletor to abduct the infants. Man-At-Arms prevented Adam from being taken, but Adora was stolen away to the planet Etheria deep in the dimension of Despondos. There she was raised by Hordak until the day her brother returned, handing Adora her sword which she held aloft to become She-Ra, the most powerful woman in the universe!

It’s a shame. Compared to the awesome job with Teela, this Adora figure doesn’t even seem to be in the same league of beauty and craftsmanship. I am hopeful but doubtful it's just bad photos.
