    MOTU question

I'm not sure where this question is supposed to be posted, but:

It's becoming my understanding (the more I research into MOTU) that, depending on which part of the world you grew up in, we received different versions of He-Man. Not only in terms of action figures, but also, in story continuity and history. What are some of the differences or deviations?

That's a bit of a loaded answer. To answer your question, there are a few continuities out there and there is much debate on that in the classics forum.

The original mini-comics was divided into three continuities really. The original mini-comics had He-man as a barbarian who was given powers and Skeletor is a demon from another dimension. The best stories to me from that bunch was the Point Dread record book.

Then the mini-comics diverted a bit and became a bit more iconic with simple stories, but they included King Randor and such.

Then, Prince Adam got into the minicomics and the books diverted into more Filmation influences.

Filmation Cannon was considered the main cannon. Mostly us kids from the 80's knew this one.

DC Comics: Made their own mini-series. That continuity had Prince Adam and it was a bit more sorcery. It was cool.

MOTU Magazine: This is where things diverted. Each country or region had their own publication and printed their own MOTU comic stories. Being near Mexico, I got my hands on a few MOTU stories in spanish and some were creative. Looking at the UK versions, they had some pretty decent writings on a few of them. The US version had a few good gems too, but I think the UK was a bit better.

Star Comics: Marvel got the license and put MOTU under their STAR (Kids) banner. The comics were pretty much Filmation but there was a few good stories in there. They extended a lot and they went a bit farther with newer characters and vehicles than Filmation could.

MOTU Movie: It could be its own continuation.

Then the line turned into The New Adventures of He-man and it's up to you if you count that.

200X MOTU: The MYP cartoon took MOTU into new directions and introduced King Grayskull and got a bit more indepth with the history. I think hey had better stories than Filmation. It's a shame they lasted only a season and a half.

MOTU Classics: The bios are pretty good on the whole. They are trying to include everything which makes it a bit interesting. I can't wait until we see it all.

The thing I don't get with the new bios is where they are getting some of the info...
For example, Roboto's card. Where's this from??? I just rewatched the episode Happy Birthday Roboto...which I think introduces his character...
Tactics is knowing what to do when there is something to do. Strategy is knowing what to do when there is nothing to do

The Roboto origin on the bio came from the 200X episode, "The Roboto Gambit" with some elements of the mini-comic. They just decided to ignore the Filmation episode.
