    Favorite "Sesame Street" characters?

So, from the "Golden Age" of Sesame Street, who were/are your favorite characters from the show that our generations grew up with?

My top 7 are The Count, followed by Ernie, Oscar, Little Bird, Gladys the Cow, and the obscure Don Music and Harvey Kneeslapper. Grover and Cookie Monster would be close runners-up.

I was always a big fan of Oscar the Grouch and the Yip Yip monsters. In fact I can't remember how many times I was told to "Shut that noise up!" when I was running around the house going "Yiiiiip Yip Yip Yp, Yiiiip Yip Yip Yip!"

    LOL that's awesome.

I always liked Snuffy (who didn't?), and I remember being at my grandparents' house watching SS, and when my grandmother was busy and not looking, I'd cut off a couple of long strands of her red yarn, tape one to my nose, stick the other one out the back of my shorts waistband, and slowly crawl around the front room pretending I was Snuffy, going..."Oh, Biiirrrrd" lol

Also, my grandmother would indulge me in some SS play, bless her heart. I'd get a little notepad and a pen and pretend to be Grover the waiter in Charlie's Restaurant. I'd take her order, then go back and hollar into the front room "Hey Charlie! I need a [blahblahblah]!" lol

*sigh*, man those were the days...

Oscar the Grouch is my all-time favorite.

Honorable mentions for Big Bird, Grover and the Count.

That's funny that grouchy ol' Oscar gets so much love, lol. I think that's in part to him having a heart o' gold underneath all that green fur. He was definitely one of the most "layered" characters on the show, which just added to his depth and intrigue.

    Mine was always Grover.

It's good to see that he's not too far down in the rankings.

Yeah, he wasn't the most-merchandised or "center stage" character like Big Bird, Ernie & Bert, Cookie Monster, Elmo, etc., but he seems to have always had a very large following. I always loved him too.
