I love the Fighting Fantasy gamebook series of the 80's and 90's (plus the modern original releases) for the gameplay and for the numerous memorable illustrations contained within. With my relatively new hobby of collecting original comic art, I was hoping to add some of the original art from these gamebooks to my collection. However, it has been dawning upon me that I will most likely never be able to obtain my favorite ones (due to their elusiveness and their price point). So, I have decided to start commissioning artists to create their versions of these images and thus I have received my first one recently of a mirror demon from 1984's Deathtrap Dungeon as drawn by Mike Hoffman (had to censor the art to post it here):

Here's the original 1984 illustration by Iain McCaig as it appeared it in the book:

I also received a couple of items I ordered I intend to give as gifts, a Geeki Tiki "force push" Grogu cup:

And a plush electronic Grogu with carrying case:

Plus a Teddy Scares Redmond Gore:

Venom from the King in Black 2-Pack. It's just a repaint of the movie version except this one has massive wings. Double jointed knees and elbows but no butterfly joints for the shoulders. The feet are a little weird looking too but still a pretty cool piece.

This thing is damn near perfect. The glasses accessory is kinda trash and won't stay on either head. It would be cool if we got both left and right fists but otherwise I'm impressed.

I got in a couple of things this week starting with a SNES Clayfighter Tournament Edition cartridge:

And I got in another Fighting Fantasy gamebook illustration homage. This time it is the main villain from 1984's House of Hades (or House of Hell as it is known outside the U.S.), the Hades Demon as reimagined by Steph Dumais:

He was also gracious enough to provide a digitally colored version free of charge:

And here is the original illustration by Tim Sell:

I love this version of Black-Suit Spidey!

I'm so happy that they used the blue highlights and painted the bottoms of his feet blue... it represents the comic book imagery so well.

Sal Buscema is the most underrated Spider-Man artist of his era.

While Todd McFarlane and Erik Larsen were making waves over in Amazing Spider-Man, I loved the work that Sal was doing on Spectacular Spidey...

My Retro Card Ghostrider arrived today from HasbroPulse. I missed out on the previous version with the motorcycle unfortunately, but this thing is damn cool. Articulated jaw on the skull, burning Johnny Blaze alternate head and hands.
