    Mistico's Customs

I figured that I was making too many threads with my various customs, so I decided to take those down and conglomerate them into one single thread so it's easier for me to keep track of and for those who like to look, they only have one place to come for my next figure or homemade/custom whatever.

So without further ado, here are my custom figures starting with the first:

My first custom was nothing more than a body/head swap, but it made for a unique-looking He-Man. He uses He-Man's head and He-Ro's body and weapons.
    Full-Power He-Man
Adam has found over the years that he’s still just learning about his powers and abilities, including the ability to draw armors and powers from anyone tied to his Power Sword. The Sorceress told him of his liniage with King Grayskull™ and his ties with the Heroic Cosmic Warrior™, He-Ro™, who gave his ancestor the mystical sword of He. Finding the Book of Living Spells deep within the confines of Castle Grayskull, Adam was able to use the magic therein alongside his Sword’s magic to bring He-Ro’s armor into present Eternia and use it to battle the combined forces of King Hssss™’ Snake Men™, Skeletor®, and Hordak™. Along with He-Ro™’s armor, he also obtained his special Cosmic powers. With his super-charged Power Sword and armor, he is the greatest warrior ever!

Shadow Beasts colored to be like the FILMation style (Prince Adam No More) and the MYP style (Night of the Shadow Beasts).

Prince Adam and Preternia Disguise He-Man didn't come with a Sword strap on their backs, so I had to make them myself. They don't match perfectly, but I think they look pretty good.

I've got a lot of extra heads from my figures as well as custom figure fodder, so to keep them out of the way, I made a display rack. This one was out of acrylic:

...But I ran out of room after I collected more figures than I had originally intended. So I had to build one out of green styrofoam, hot glue, and wooden pegs, as well as dressing it up with moss to make it look neat:

Along with that, I needed a place to put all my half-Swords, so I made a simple Sword display rack out of styrofoam:

When I got my King Grayskull 2.0, like most people, I had a rolling blue marble on my shelves. I found He-Bro had built a customized Orb Stand on his he-man.us page, and decided to make one for myself. It really lights up too!

My Mo-Larr vs. Skeletor box was taking up a lot of shelf room, but I didn't want to destroy the scene. So I made a dental chair for Skeletor, a tool holder for Mo-Larr, and a coat/hat rack for Skeletor's Sword and Havoc Staff:

Before FILMation had to quit He-Man, they had come up with He-Ro, Son of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. I liked the idea of Adam and Teela having a son to carry on the Power Sword tradition, so I made a custom Dare as He-Ro. I didn't make him blonde or add the ponytail. He uses a Bow (sans mustache) head, He-Man body, and customizing the weapons and armor.
The adopted son of King Adam and Queen Teela, Dare had been raised by a she-bear in the wilds since he was very young, his birth parents unknown even to him. He was found when a scouting party ran into him while he was running away from Skeletor who had just killed his surrogate mother. Skeletor had returned to Eternia and was even more vengeful in his quest to rule Eternia and gain all the knowledge of Castle Grayskull. With Adam needed to head Eternos, and ultimately Eternia itself, a new champion was needed. The Sorceress bequeathed the Sword of He to Dare on his sixteenth birthday, much the same as she had his father. With the Sword, he was able to call upon the powers of Grayskull and became He-Ro, son of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe!

Vikor needed a new Sword sheath after I gave him the blue-and-silver Sword from the Weapons Pak, so I made one that went around his waist so he could have all 4 of his weapons at the ready on his person at all times:

In the POG line, He-Ro was originally Gray, a peasant farmer that had been chosen by Eldor to become a great fighter and leader against the Snakemen. Well, officially, Gray has been taken out of the MOTUC line, but in my canon, he remains He-Ro's secret identity. Thus, I had to make my own Gray using a He-Ro head, He-Man body, spear and club from the Weapons Pak, and homemade furry vest and necklace. His story is as follows:
A peasant farmer who lost his entire family to the Snake Men™ when his father’s tithings weren’t enough to appease King Hssss™, he ran away to hide in the forest and live a life away from the evil that rampaged through Eternia®. Fate, however, had other plans for young Gray. Starting small uprisings against the Snake Men™, he became a most wanted criminal in the eyes of Hssss and his followers and was forced into exile or be destroyed. A hermit duid named Eldor found him and decided that the young man was worth a gift only he could give. Using the Book of Living Spells along with the magical amulet the young man wore around his neck—the only heirloom he had of his family—Eldor transformed Gray into He-Ro™, the most powerful wizard in the universe! His mace transformed into a powerful staff with which he could battle evil warriors. He-Ro™ was called to the stars soon after to become a Cosmic Warrior, but would return to his homeworld fifty years later when Fate would step in once again, bringing both him and the Sword of He to Eternia®.

Are you tired of Orko's book (or books if you bought more than one) lying around? Will you be getting Shadow Weaver next year? Or did you cut out the cardboard X-Plo-Dar magazine cover from Mo-Larr's dental office floor? Then you need...(*insert drumroll here*)...the Eternian Bookshelf! Able to hold a large number of books, as well as a small number of other small things. Take for instance, Wun-Dar's loaf of bread or Bow's altnerate chest button or harp. Have no place to put them? Try on top of the bookshelf! 2 out of 3 of the bookshelves will let the books stand upright, while the top shelf will let them lean or lay on their sides. Plenty of room for your existing MOTUC books and those to [hopefully] come (ie. Eldor, Batros, Master Sebrian...just to name a hopeful few)!

I found a website (Shapeways.com) that had a version of Keldor's swords for sale. So I bought one, painted it, and now my Keldor has his 200x-style sword(s)!

There was also a movie Sword on the same site, so I bought one of those and painted it too. Turned out really nice (although I'm not sure who I will give it to just yet).

I saw someone on here had made a custom Battle Armor Wun-Dar and liked the idea so much, I made one myself. The Cosmic Enforcer chestplate was made by Fahnengrabbler:

I bought 2 King Hssss so I could display both versions (snake and humanoid torsos). Then I decided to use the extra snakes from one torso and graft them into the other one so I had a "Super Snake" King Hssss. The bendable snakes made it where he can still hold onto his staff and shield too!

I've seen a few people making their own "He-Men" that spanned between King Grayskull and Adam, and thought I'd make a few of my own. My first He-Man (not Adam) is a Quadian character I made from Grayskull's hair, the Quadian Guard head, Carnivus' body and armor (modified and repainted), and Adam's Power Sword. I wanted to give him a great Quadian history, so I made him into he who would be King Saz! Using the Filmation The Cat and the Spider story/history and the MYP/MOTUC Carnivus and Quadian people, I created a nice little story for him. *EDIT: gave him the Carnivus sword & shield from WP#3!
    Real Name: Saz Fervelius
After Vikor perished in battle sending Demo-Man to Despondos, the Goddess needed to find a new guardian of the Sword of He to protect it from evil. Because of his bravery, Saz Fervelius, a Quadian™ warrior, was chosen to guard the halves of the Power Sword from evil forces that sought them out to use against Eternia and the universe. Like Vikor before him, he was given half of the Sword and told to use it for the betterment of Eternia. He became a master of using both the Sword of He and his custom-made curved blade that he favored above all else. The Quadians™, a secretive cat-like people, were seen as outcasts and untrustworthy by humans until Saz and his people captured a demon called the Grimalkin that terrorized Eternia, and forced it into a statue using the powers of the storm. Unfortunately, his favored sword had been broken during the battle, and mysteriously disappeared. He then hid the statue deep in the Temple of the Cat behind many fortifications that would deter anyone from freeing the monster. Soon after, he was crowned King of the Quadians™ and his curved sword was returned to him, reforged with magical properties from an unnamed person. With his newfound powers, he helped make the Quadians™ the strong people they are today and became a legend to both humans and Quadians™ alike!

Just so MUCH stuff to look at! Hard to take it all in with one visit to the thread! I'm loving the descriptions/explanations to go with each custom (helps out a lot!).....the areas for weapon and head storage are pretty smart. Gray and the Son of HeMan customs are great!

I really want to get that HeMan movie sword...I"m seeing it everywhere. You don't know who to give it to? ME.

Great job, man. It'd be sweet to see these integrated into your collection!

Well, feel free to come back as often as you like! I'll be posting more custom figures as I get them done. And thanks. I like making explanations and bios for the characters so they fit in the MOTUC storyline.

hehe, Well, I meant what figure to give it to. I bought it from Shapeways.com (labeled "Sword of the Ancients"; I also got my Keldor sword--labeled "Sword of Destruction"--from the same site). The direct link to the movie Sword is: http://www.shapeways.com/model/89629/sword_of_the_ancients.html?gid=mg

I'll probably post pics of my entire collection soon, so you (and others) can see all the customs interacting with the "official" figures.

And here's my New Adventures He-Man! Complete with new hair, bandolier & belt buckle, as well as repainted gauntlets, Power Sword, pants & boots. I gave him a bio that fits with the cartoon and mini-comics (well sort of; he's not permanently He-Man in my canon like he was in the mini-comic), even though I know Mattel will have him and She-Ra fighting the Horde on Primus instead of Flogg and his Mutants.

Here's his bio according to me:
Real Name: Adam of the House of Randor
Called to the future of Eternia (renamed Primus) to save the last of mankind from invasion, slavery, and ultimate annihalation from Flogg and his evil Space Mutants, He-Man joined Icarius and his fellow Galactic Protectors in their battle against Skeletor—who had followed them in their time-warp—and who joined forces with Flogg in their quest against all that is good. Protecting his identity of Prince Adam, he became the adopted nephew to the leader of Primus, as a merchant from Levitan, one of their chief cities. Even with stripped-down battle armor, He-Man proves time and again that he is mightier than all of the evil Skeletor and Moon Nordor have to offer.

This is the first time I've made new hair for any figure & I'm pleased with how it turned out, even though I don't consider it "perfect". Sometimes I think it looks a little "George Washington" like, but eh. I'm only starting to branch out in customizing (more than just part-swapping & a little paint). But it DOES feature his ponytail with the red hairband keeping it pulled back, which I'm very proud of getting right the first time (now that I know I can to do this, I may give in & add that to my Dare as He-Ro figure). As you can see, his bandolier also has a sheath to hold his Sword when he doesn't want to hold it.

Oh, and yes, he is still able to have normal He-Man head as well. I actually bought an extra head so I could display him with either one, depending on if I wanted to give him the new homemade hair or the MOTUC hair.

For my latest trick, I have made an original Gar character. Using Kronis' head, biceps & forearms, Skeletor's buck, shoulders, hands, legs, chest armor & Sword, Zodak's loincloth & boots, Optikk's Weapons Pak laser & shield (and repainting almost all of it), I made a Gar enemy for my King Saz, the Quadian He-Man. Here's his bio followed by some photos:

    Nu-Senz
    The Master of Disaster
Real Name: Nu-Senz, son of Re-Laxe
Growing up, Nu-Senz was always a klutz, trying his best to outdo everyone else around him and always failing. Anything and everything he did resulted in some climactic trouble, and he was not always the one to receive the brunt of it. The only thing he was good at was fighting. Anytime he was in battle, he was a fierce warrior, and his opponents were almost always defeated. Learning about the mystical Castle Grayskull and the hidden Sword of He, Nu-Senz set out on his own to find the Sword and prove himself to his race. Taking with him a photon laser and an indestructible Eternium shield, and arming himself with the best (at the time) Gar armor and helmet, he fought the current guardian of the Power Sword, the Quadian warrior, Saz Fervelius, many times. Finding that Saz was as excellent a fighter as he, Nu-Senz tried many devious ways to get the Sword from the warrior, but failed at every turn. As a last-ditch attempt to destroy his enemy, he set his photon laser too high in one battle, and blew himself up. This relieved Saz of defeating him once more and the Gar race from dealing with him ever again.

Wow, those are really creative and cool. Where did you get the Keldor swords from?
Can someone PM me the US number for Matty? I want to talk to someone who might has a clue of what is going on.

And now here are a few more customs. First up is my newest historical "He-Man" (the "He-Men" between Grayskull and Adam), Demetrius. Here's his bio, followed by a photo:

    Demetrius
    The He-Man of the East
    Real Name: Demetrius Jamal
Living in the Sands of Time all of his life, Demetrius was a strong warrior of his nomadic tribe. Son of the medecine man, he had the ability to communicate with animals both feirce and timid, and was an avid hunter and provider for his family as well as those who could not provide for themselves. Being desert dwellers, his tribe also had the keen ability of finding water in the least-likely places and survive on a small pool for weeks before moving on. Annually, they would return to the Temple of the Sun, where they lived during the rainy season, collecting and storing water with other nomadic desert tribes. During one of his outings, Demetrius found and freed a wounded unicorn caught in a snare trap and cared for it until it was healed. The Goddess, seeing his compassion for the creature and knowing tales of his bravery and leadership skills, approached him with a special task. She bequethed half of the Power Sword and a power harness so that he would be able to protect both the Sword and all Eternia from evil. Together with his tribe and animal friends, Demetrius proved to be a great warrior and kept the twin halves of the Power Sword safe for many years.

    Uncle Montork
    Magical Uncle of Orko
    Real Name: Montork
Head of the Academy of Magik, Montork is one of the greatest wizards in Trolla, topped only by his nephew to whom he taught everything he knows. Usually spending time at home with his pet and friend, Gark, relaxing or eating roast gooble. When duty calls, he is not only a professor at the Academy, but a man of the law, bringing in criminals—both magical and non-magical—to be tried for their crimes. Fearing he’d lost his nephew forever to the unknown, Montork was relieved to find him alive and well on Eternia when he was first brought to that planet by Torron through a magical spell. Montork has returned on various occasions to help Orko or ask for his help, as well as been visited by both Orko and He-Man on his home planet.

And thirdly is a Quadian female. Originally from the Seventh Kingdom series by The Four Hosemen, I bought a bunch of "mistakes" (figures with something wrong with them like a bad paint job or skewed bodyparts) to customize. She originally was an exclusive red Raavia, the tiger from Raving Toy Maniac. I made her into a black panther (don't worry, I kept one Raavia as is) and repainted some of her armor so she stood out better. I have two more to customize, but not sure what I'll do with them just yet. I have no bio for her either (yet!), but her name is Cilandra, the personal guard to King Carnivus (he was "king" in the MYP cartoon).

    Super Horde Skeletor
Real Name: Keldor of the House of Miro
In the final battle that won Skeletor dominion over the Horde, he sent Hordak into a place even he couldn’t name. But not before Hordak fired a blast so hot that it bleached his skull pure white! Donning Horde armor (with minor modifications) and with magical help from Shadow Weaver and her books, he powered up his Sword and Havoc Staff and proceeded to contiue where the former leader of the Horde had left off, conquering and controlling planets and dimensions one by one.

    Super [Movie] He-Man
Real Name: Adam of the House of Randor
Learning of Hordak being overthrown by Skeletor and his quick rise to and in power from Horde Magik, He-Man sought guidance from the Spirit of Grayskull. The once-nameless ghost (he revealed to his successor in confidence to be the once King D’Vann Grayskull himself) guided Adam deeper into parts of the Castle that even the Sorceress didn’t know of. There in a room of unique powers, Adam put the tip of his Sword into a pool of what looked like blue glowing gel. The blade began to change color from silver to sparkly blue and as it got closer to the hilt, Adam changed into He-Man and felt more power surging through him than he ever had before. His armor changed color and a cape appeared behind him. Adding special laser weapons from Grayskull’s arsenal, he set out to stop Skeletor once and for all.

    Eldor
Keeper of the Ancient Book of Living Spells
    Real Name: (Elder) Luc Haman
In his youth, Eldor studied many forms of magic, but none so powerful as the mysterious spell of Transformation! He was once a great warrior against King Hssss, creating stones of power (including the fabled Stone of Protection), magical artifacts, and spells against the Snake Men who had conquered his home planet before he was born, but years of battle and aging took a toll on him, and he went into hiding. Hssss would have given his right and left fangs to know where the old wizard resided. Over the years, he obtained more and more books on spells and history, but prided himself on helping others above all else. Keeping mostly to himself, he was seen more as a wise man than a magician and he was content with that. He would help people who asked for guidance, sometimes using spells, other times only guiding words. One day, he came upon a young man named Gray, and told him of the magic in the family amulet he wore around his neck. Using his most powerful book, The Book of Living Spells, along with the Amulet of Transformation Gray wore, he turned the farm boy into He-Ro™ who left to do battle in the stars. Just before his life was over, the Goddess came to Eldor and offered to make him into a spirit guide to help those in need. He accepted and moved all of his books into a secret cave beneath that which would later be part of the inner grounds of Castle Grayskull, and therefore the underground library. Eldor wandered about Eternia, helping those in need, until the Goddess called to him. He can now be seen as one of the many spirits wondering the halls (or the library—his favorite place) of Castle Grayskull, helping those that need him still when they visit.

King Adam/Older He-Man (figure idea by GLJossan; modified & bio by me)
Real Name: Adam of the House of Randor
When his father and mother retired from being King and Queen of Eternia, Prince Adam had to step up and take over his father’s place. With him, he took Teela as his wife, and the secret of He-Man, who was still needed on occasion, though less since Skeletor had been banished to the Frozen Lands along with many of his most powerful henchmen. It was just as well since being King took over most of his time. Soon, though a young wild boy was brought into the lives of the new King & Queen, and they adopted him, naming him Dare. When Skeletor broke free of his prison, he brought back with him not only his original cohorts, but many newcomers from far-off lands and dimensions. After it was revealed that Dare would be the next in line to wield the Power Sword, the boy was quick to don the guise of He-Ro. Adam, however, was not yet ready to give up the mantel, and when state affairs don’t get in his way, he still has the chance to become his alter-ego once more and fight alongside his son in the battles to keep Eternia free from the evil Lord of Destruction.

    Spirit
    Beautiful Horse and Adora's Companion
    Real Name: Spirit
Growing up under Horde Rule and training in the Fright Zone under Hordak's leadership to become a Force Captain, Adora grew restless in her teenage years and desired a companion and playmate. Knowing that no one in the Horde would take this position, Hordak gave her a white horse, which she named Spirit. Adora trained with Spirit to be a mighty warhorse against the Rebellion and Spirit was always by her side until he was stabled at night. Together, the two created a strong bond and could detect what the other was thinking as if on a telepathic link. They became a dynamic duo that none of the other Horde could hope to accomplish. Spirit was also very protective of Adora and nearly trampled Grizzlor and Catra to death when they started a fight with their not yet Captain. Hordak was furious and would have had the horse put down if not for Adora's pleading to spare her horse. After that, Spirit learned not to attack the Horde and the Horde learned not to provoke Spirit or Adora. When Adora was given the Sword of Protection and left to join the Rebellion, loyal Spirit stayed with her and through the Sword became Swift Wind, a beautiful pegasid who flew her into and out of battle.

Just for fun, I made a Santa Adam from "A He-Man and She-Ra Christmas Special", complete with flying belt. His suit is made of red felt with white faux fur all around the edges. then a black strip of stiff cloth with a yellow rubber buckle and painted black boots & white hair. He also has been given a golden Power Sword to protect the Christmas Spirit on Eternia from those who would try to destroy it. I made him vintage this time around, but maybe next year I'll make a MOTUC version of him as well.

Continuing into 2012: My first MOTUC custom of the year! Using only parts from the Mo-Larr vs. Skeletor 2-pack and a LOT of hot glue, I created my very first Skelcon!

    Skelcon
    Evil Henchmen of Skeletor
    Real Name: unknown
Skelcons were created by Skeletor using an advanced form of his Mutant Slime Pit. While they have no sentience to speak of, they are excellent at following orders and seeing a project through. Used many times by Tri-Klops to help him in his inventions, they work tirelessly to build his and Skeletor's machines that they use to battle the Masters. They are almost as good at open battle as they are at building machines, though they prefer sneak-attacks as they are not super strong or very fast. What they lack in battle skill, though, they make up for in persistence and unless completely destroyed, will continue fighting their enemies until one or the other is destroyed.

Whoaaa! That is probably the first MOTUC Skelcon ever!
Wonderful! As is the rest of this thread (that somehow went under my radar, seeing it for the first time - your customs are awesome!)

It would be really neat if mine was the first MOTUC Skelcon!

Thank you! I'm glad you like them. Yeah, this posting has been here a while, though not too long. I just repost new figures when I get them made. So far I've only shown off my MOTUC's, but I should probably put up my other MOTU, POP, and other else figures here one day.

I agree with e-man, you have a lot of great customs. Noticed some cool looking ones in the background of your Eldor pics. Yeh, I'm not at that level yet. Still trying to learn!

Well heck, I'm nowhere near HKC or quite a few others like him. I started with a simple body/head swap & went up from there. I think part of how I learned to do this so quickly is because I used to make some of my own toys when I was a kid & it just stuck with me all these years. I just practice with customizing & hope I improve with each character I make. Yes, you can sometimes see future customs in the backgrounds of my photos. I'm hoping to have those done (those that have been sitting "patiently" waiting) sometime soon. Especially one that will hopefully be a big joke around the board here.

Thanks! That makes me happy to know. It's people like you that make me want to do more. I have about 7 more customs at various stages (some in fodder form, some with a piece here or there done) & hope to have them done maybe in the next few months as I find the time. Parts used to be the hard thing for me to find, now it's just time.

In the continuing saga that is me making custom characters, I bring you a much-discussed and joked-about character: Chery-Pikor!

    Cherry-Pikor
    Pickiest Collector in the Universe
    Real Name: Various
Hiding along the corners of eBay, MattyCollector.com, and various other action figure websites, Cherry-Pikor makes a snatch-and-grab for his or her favorite toys, and avoid paying for the ones they’d just as soon were never made or be used as cannon fodder. With dual grapplinghooks, they collects what he wants and is not heard from until the next set of figures becomes available.

And just for fun, now that I FINALLY got my Demo-Man, here's my Alcala Skeletor, complete with Alacala Sword (supplied by evilmike from Shapeways.com). One side of the Sword has a gray hilt, while the other has a black hilt, so it lookes like it's two Power Swords put together.

Also from evilmike, I bought the FILMation axe Skeletor had & painted it up. Not exactly painted FILMation-like, but I like it.

And for those who like to sink their teeth into vintage customs, I've made a few of them over the years as well.

One of the first custom things I did was as a kid. I didn't have a Prince Adam (I've since ammended that problem), so I made a cloth outfit for my He-Man to be able to "transform" from/to either character. I even had a scabbard on the back for his Sword to go into.

When I moved out of my parents' place & into my apartment, I began customizing on more figures as I got extras in various lots I was buying to complete my collection (or get as close to, anyway). So I started with a couple repaints, making myself characters that were hard to come by, and then making up my own as I went along.
Cringer for my Prince Adam (yes, but this time, I had a real one):

    Black-skinned Grizzlor:

Wun-Dar (you can't see his weapons, but I gave him the blue Power Sword and Axe from the Weapons Pack)

Fixed the paintjob on my Teela:

    Horde Skeletor:

    Princess Adora:

    Sprit to go with Adora:

    Cape for my King Randor:

Aquiring a 200x She-Ra, I needed to have a Swift Wind for her. Well, I only had one complete Swifty for my POP She-Ra, so I bought a bare-bones POP Swifty and made it into a FILMation-style Swift Wind using pink and blue cloth, a paintbrush end, and various colors of craft foam.

Yeah. Me too. If I had all the time now like I had last year, I'd be making more and more. Right now I'm just posting from the past to show what all I've done. Hopefully I'll have something new someday soon.

Nice! Those vintage customs are great. Especially Horde Skeletor and that Teela repaint.
Seems we all don't have enough time for customizing.
    Time will come though!

I certainly hope so! Customizing is a fun way for me to blow off steam & be creative. And thanks for the compliments!

...well, now I have 2 more custom projects to add to my filmation style figures to do...

    1. Gotta paint both of my shadowbeast figures like yours.
    2. Trick out my King Hiss the same way!
