Eyebeam is so insanely goofy that I'd love to get him. I could see him (haha) as a buddy for Optikk rather than a hero though.

Yea like he could be the race where Optikk came from and Optikk needed some cybernetics to surivive so he had a suit made to go around his damaged body thus looking like the Optikk we know now...Too bad someone can't enter him in the custom contest...

The only ones that seems interesting enough are Compactor and Brain Wave. I voted for Compactor since Brain Wave looks more ridiculous, IMO!

I voted for Compactor...I think he'd fit in perfectly with MOTUC...
Also, like Dark Sorceress said...ignore the artwork...and picture it on a MOTUC buck...I think she'd be really awesome! Her weapon could be a newly designed Leech web...or a net shooter.

I participated in this contest as a child. I was 12 years old. I drew an insect like character that I named "Man-squito." I was awarded a 2nd Runner Up prize of an Evil-Horde Playset. The thing is, about a year later they introduced a character, along with an action figure, named "Misquitor." He looked like a robotic version of my character design. None of these "finalists" were ever produced into real characters, as far as I know.

As far as I'm concerned, Mattel screwed over a kid and stole the idea. I was 12 and neither my parents or I thought of making copies and documenting the design. I sent in my original drawing.

I voted for BrainWave, just like I did back in the day! [^) Of course, I would be fine with getting figures of ALL of these characters. It's probably not likely, but a former kid can dream...

I think I remember you emailing me through my old site - Mosquitor's He-Man Realm - and telling me that story.

Hi, ernman! Welcome to The He-Man.Org Forums!

I wonder if you might recall the Rules of the contest you entered. I know it was a long while ago, so let me refresh your memory. I quote from the second part of #7 in the Rules:

"By entering the contest, each entrant acknowledges and agrees that his entries and all rights of copyright in copyrightable materials contained therein shall be deemed as works made for hire, and become the sole and exclusive property of and are hereby assigned to MATTEL, INC., which thereby has the right to alter, adapt and modify, copy, publish and promote and otherwise use any and all rights pertaining thereto in any way for any purpose, the entrant's character, name and description without compensation or payment (other than the gift referred to in paragraph 2) to the entrant." End Quote.

So cheer up! You were in no way "screwed over". You and Your parents signed away the rights to Your submitted He-Man character creation. Like all other entrants, I'm sure You received a Masters of The Universe Comic Book (the "gift" referred to above) for Your trouble. And UNLIKE many/MOST entrants, Your submission placed nicely in the contest! 2nd Runner Up and a Evil Horde playset are nothing to sniff at!

You may not feel the same way, but if I were able to claim that I inspired a character that went on to become a noteworthy action figure in a hugely popular toy line, I wouldn't be bitter in the least. Please know that there are many Masters of The Universe fans out there that owe You a debt of thanks!

Myself included. Thank You, ernman! :^)
