    Official Catch-All Pro-Wrestling Thread.

So WWE is having their big show (pun intended) soon. Who do you think will win?

Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus title match

Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show title match

C.M. Punk vs. Chris Jericho title match

Undertaker vs. Triple H (Shawn Michaels referee)

Team Teddy Long vs. Team Johnny L.

    The Rock vs. John Cena

    Kane vs. Randy Orton

Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus title match

DB has been doing a great job at playing "Classic heel". Screwjob finishes,
wins by count out, getting DQed on purpose all being played rather perfectly.
But like most angles of this type, the annual big show is usually a face heavy
show, and Bryan has held this title for a few months which is a long time in this
    day, and age.
Expect Bryan to try something shady to win like throwing the ref into a Baroque Kick,
But having it backfire, and Sheamus gets the pin just as the ref comes to.

    WINNER (And new Champion): SHEAMUS

Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show title match

For awhile now Rhodes has interrupted matches to taunt Show, and cost him victories.
Again, people have wanted Show to get the upperhand these days, and at Wrestlemania
Big Show probably gets a well deserved chokeslam.

    WINNER: THE BIG SHOW

C.M. Punk vs. Chris Jericho title match

Y2J has come back for what has been an entertaining rivalry angle. A heel who is tired of
superstars cribbing his quotes, and gimmicks setting his sights on the top guy, Jericho
pulls out all the stops. As always he even goes after taboo subjects to get under the skin
of the face. This is probably the best program he's done since his feud with HBK a few years
ago culminating with a victory at The Great American Bash.
Jericho is also scheduled to reunite with Fozzy for a tour, but I wouldn't be so quick to assume
that Punk retains. Rather we will likely see Y2J pull off the seemingly impossible.
I see Y2J hitting the Walls of Jericho, Punk begrudginly tapping out, and Jericho walking out
with the belt. Then we'll see a several month continuation of the feud with Jericho losing the title
just in time to go on tour, and Punk redeeming himself.

    WINNER (And new Champion): Y2J

Undertaker vs. Triple H (Shawn Michaels referee)
With all of the quasi subliminal digs at HBK from HHH, and the
wedge Taker has been verbally placing between the two of them
it's patently obvious to any longtime wrestling fan that HBK is going
to turn heel, and cost HHH the match allowing Taker to go 20-0

    WINNER: THE UNDERTAKER

Team Teddy Long vs. Team Johnny L.
Hammy John Laurenitis is building a stable of heels, while Long has been picking mostly
underutilized faces who are over. There is one wild card that will likely end up on team Long
however. THE MIZ. Every week we've seen Miz whining, and losing in every attempt to get a
spot at WM. Expect to see Teddy Long add The Miz to his team, and victory that will send Miz
    to Smackdown.

    WINNER: TEAM LONG

    The Rock vs. John Cena

This one is a tough call. The Rock is arguably one of the most over characters in all of wrestling beating
all of the top tier talent in the 90's, and was even given the torch by Hulk Hogan in WM18. John Cena
is the first face in 20 years to get to the superhuman status level of Hulk Hogan or The Ultimate Warrior.
But The Rock is pretty much part time at this point coming back in between films or promotions.
I fully expect The Rock to give Cena the torch Hulk Hogan gave to him.

    WINNER: JOHN CENA

    Kane vs. Randy Orton

This one is disappointing for several reasons. The biggest being we've seen this match 1000 times.
Kane should have been part of the Taker storyarc as (Kayfabe) Kane is his brother, and it would make
sense to have him "Save" the Undertaker so he can be the one to retire him, and taking his power for his
own. Instead we have yet another yawnfest between two guys who deserve to be in higher profile programs.
Anyway I see an unexpected RKO, allowing Kane to finally move onto something more interesting.

    WINNER: RANDY ORTON
    The Deviot

It's always hard for me to pick because the line between who I want to win and who I'll think win is blurred.

bryan vs shaemus--bryan--will bryan weasel his way to victory or will shaemus get payback for all the kicks to the head and the interference?

Cody vs show--assuming cody doesn't wrestle his real life brother Goldust and Show doesn't wrestle shaq--I'm going with cody--no goofy outing for Show--show may get revenge for cody mocking him but he won't get the title--looking forward to this match

punk vs Y2J--Punk--looking forward to this match

cena vs rock--sigh--I could go on and on and on about why I am NOT liking or forward to this match but I won't--My coin flip pick says Rock.

HHH vs Taker--Taker--starting to wain on this match. the build up is getting a little weak.

Team Teddy vs Team Johnny--slowly warming up to this--Do to stuff I've read on the internet I think Team Johnny will win--who do I want to win? I guess team Teddy.

Kane vs Rko--Looking forward to this match--I'm going with Kane

Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos against Beth Phoenix and Eve--reading the internet and maria has 2 broken ribs--who knows what will happen--If Maria does make it a go then Kelly Kelly/Maria

news:WWE officials are looking to announce the main event for WrestleMania 29 this year – possibly on the RAW Supershow the night after WrestleMania 28. The belief is that the RAW after WrestleMania 28 will be the highest-rated of the year.

Right now officials are looking at John Cena, The Rock, Steve Austin and The Undertaker as the top guys to build next year around. Regarding Austin, he has not committed to wrestling another match yet.

I love Sheamus! If I'd have stuck to the gym, played less WoW, and used some rogaine I would have looked like him!

Ehhhh one could argue they lost it around 2001

But in regards to tonight, the "big" matches with the exception of Bryan's match have all been excellent and worth it. Taker vs HHH was good and Jericho vs Punk is really good as well

All in all, it was a pretty good Wrestlemania this year. There was one glaring blemish though, and that was the Daniel Bryan/Sheamus match. That was "Fingerpoke of doom" levels of betrayal. People already have up animated gifs of the enitre match it was so short. Team Long Vs. Team Laurenitis was entertaining. Y2J vs. Punk was an awesome awesome match. Probably the best on the card IMHO. Taker vs HHH was even better than last year's match, probably the second best on the card. Orton vs. Kane was pretty good, and even Show/Rhodes was pretty good.
Cena/Rock was better than I expected, and even had a heel moment I wont spoil.
The Divas match was a sloppy celebrity tie in match so I can't say I had unrealistic expectations there. On the whole I really enjoyed it even if overly cynical IWC types didn't. If only they gave us a better first match instead of two insufferable pop rap acts to sit through.

Luckily I had to hit pause a few times throughout the show so I got to fast forward through the music.

I keep seeing Sheamus/Bryan hate but I thought it was great!

At least Maria Menounos looks a lot better than Snooki

HHH/Taker absolutely stole the show. It was the only match on the card that had everyone at my party out of their seats for every false finish. It was so much fun, and very enjoyable to watch!

Punk/Jericho was an excellent wrestling match, and I also enjoyed this. I think my hopes were too high, becuase it wasn't quite as good as I expected. I expected somethign really legendary. I don't think they hit that, but nonetheless, it was still a good match.

Other than that, I was pretty disappointed with Mania this year. The Bryan/Sheamus thing was a bad way to start the show for me becuase of how much I was looking forward to it. Bryan might be the best all-around wrestler that WWE has ont he roster right now. Sheamus is a great worker too, and they could have had a pretty amazing match I bet. Last year those two got bumped off of Mania entirely. This year practically the same thing happened.

I also didn't think Rock/Cena was very good. Rock looked so gassed. You can tell that, even though he looks great, he is not in ring shape. Let me also say that I LOVE the Rock. But I have been fully behind Cena in this feud. Cena has been owning Rock in promos the last month, imo. Rock did his usual catch phrases and rhyming, while Cena delivered some of the best promo work he ever has. Rock should not have won this match. He's going to leave again now, and Cena will still be here and have to somehow recoup after that loss. Rock did not need that win. The way this feaud has been built, with Cena talking about how much he needs this win because he has always been here and always dedicated...and then to have him lose? That makes no sense to me. And I was very bummed with the ending to Mania.

Dan, Cena did in no way needed the win. He has not lost clean in 4-5 years. It was refreshing to see it actually happen and they can actually give him a decent storyline since the way they finished it was his arrogance took for granted what was going on. He can opt to go down a dark road now and blame the fans that already hate him, then find himself and come back to win the belt. It writes itself

Again Cena is no way needed that win, he is a multi-time champion and has beat everyone in the WWE multiple times. He beats Rock and then what? You can't progress a story like that otherwise you are Hogan circa 1984-1991 except without nearly the amount of charisma or fan support.

Sorry Dan but I think you are dead wrong on that, the match stunk but it served its purpose and might make RAW more interesting

You also want to say Cena owned Rock, ever think it was the Rock that set up Cena to deliver the lines (like the wrist thing)? Cena has sucked on the mic for at least 4 years, and I am a Cena fan but people like Edge and Jericho used to bury him. Even The Miz owned him last year.

Rock did everything to try to get Cena over and Cena no sold the moves and smiled (on Raw, at WM)....it was like how do you make the fans hate you even more 101 with John Cena lol

I agree with you on the Daniel Bryan thing, that stunk and was purely Vince trolling all wrestling fans. I am not sad he lost but in like 18 seconds was just ridiculous.

What I did not like was Big Show winning the IC Belt, that serves no purpose whatsoever. He got his WM win finally but it just devalues the title more than it already is.

At least Cody Rhodes was becoming confident and going to challenge Honkey Tonk Man's record for holding the belt longest...that was wasted.

I'll be honest, I hate talking wrestling with people because everyone's views are so wildly different, and it's not fun for me to argue about it. So I'll just leave it at saying that I disagree with almost everything you said. But, to each his own.

You don't like talking to people with different opinions? Doesn't that make most of your conversations kind of boring with everyone agreeing about stuff?

I definitely agree that Cena won the war of words lead-up. He had to. There just isn't as much intrigue if Rocky comes out and blows him away. 'Creative' was likely trying to pull the strings to make sure it was closer to a 50/50 split. Rock was going to have his fans regardless. They were going to have to sandbag Rocky a bit to even the playing field. To be frank, some of Rock's promos got cringe-worthy at times. He looked rusty in some of his live stuff (then again, I am partial to 'Shiny Shirt' Rocky who stood still and spewed venom to 'Hyper-Active' Rock who can't stand still near the end of his first WWE run). Cena did have some of his best mic work in years during this feud.

Having Cena win this match doesn't really do anything for him or WWE. He doesn't need to be elevated. Even without the strap, he was the Main Event. Winning and "getting the torch passed" just elevates him further. On the other hand, losing that match opens up a whole new batch of options. Losing streak? That would make him a more sympathetic figure, and could serve to get his skeptics behind him again. Heel turn? I know I got goosebumps when he came out in the Cavs jersey with the chain. I know that guy won't be back, but Cena could be phenomenal as an unstoppable monster heel. Even if neither comes to pass, wrestling is just more interesting when you don't know 100% of the time that a guy isn't going to lose clean.

Exactly, add to that he no sells almost all of his opponents and its like why even bother watching him. IMHO he had to lose to The Rock to give him something to do.

I still maintain he whips the Rock and then.... Edge is retired, Jericho is going out with his band, UT is UT and on a whole different level and the WWE is too interested in burying the younger talent (look what happened to Bryan).

So what exactly is Cena "I beat The Rock" going to do if he wins? The only logical thing was to have him lose, it also allows him to have that chance to beat Rock hanging around for another WM or another PPV when its needed (Rock vs Austin comes to mind as a template). It also gives material for Punk to work with when he is done with Jericho.

Cena could be a MONSTER heel if he wanted, the fans by and large love to hate him and he is so much better when he is pushed.

I agree with you PAD, and I know wrestling can bring out people's passions but I think Dan has a unique view actually being a wrestler so that might be part of why we don't see eye to eye with him. I would like to hear what his thoughts were but I am not going to push him to get them.
