New Characters created due to MOTUC

I have been watching this list grow as this line has expanded, and I am surprised as to how many have popped up. Heres the list I have so far.
    Gladiator
    Beast Lord
    Bandwidth
    Red Shadow
    Beast Lord (Final Design).jpg

June 21st over at the Matty forums in response to a question posted by vertigoink
"Gladiator, Bandwidth, Red Shadow and Beast Lord were new characters introduced as part of Grayskull's group of Preternia warriors along with Spector and Sir Laser Lot. Terry's character appears in issue 3.

I've noted a few times that management wanted to use the 30th program to move the brand forward and introduce new worlds and characters. The mini comics are part of this."

    Spinwhiz
Telkan 2 asks: Can you tell us more about the Horde robot (who looks suspiciously like one of Hordak's transformed bodies from the Filmation series) that is fighting alongside the heroic factions in the third Ultimate Battleground comic?

Matty: Sure. His name is Spin Whiz and he is a Horde hunter robot that was captured and reprogrammed by the Masters.

    That's The Great Black Wizard

    4. facet: Who is this Horde Character from the new third mini comic?
    Snarrrlll,

3/15/13 That is supposed to be Keldor and Evil-Lyn's son with the mohawk correct? I'm assuming his name is Skeleteen based on the box art vote. I think he needs a figure asap because he is the Eternian version of a Dreadnok! I hope that's a mask and not his actual face though. Overall the comic was amazing compared to the previous issues.
TG "It's a Skull mask. Like in Karate Kid. (Look close you will see the string). Incidentally, that design (and name) came from the vintage He-Ro SOHM bible. Too cool not to use!"
    And Now we have Skeleteen

    4. facet: I have racked my brains over these three characters from the list provided by Mattel for the Castle Grayskull box art but could not find them anywhere. Who are these characters: Fang-or, Golden rod, Snow thief?

They are all on page 2-3 of the third 2012 mini comic. Fang-or is behind Sqqueeze, Golden Rod is in front of Gygor and Snow Thief is behind Mosquitor.
    Fang-or

Snowthief, Golden Rod, Strettch Nek and Vypor

    5. facet: Scott, will you please tell us all of the new characters on pages 2 and 3 of the third new mini comic? By this I mean any character that was created by you and your staff, that didn't have an action figure or previously existing media associated with it. Then, also show us exactly where they are in that 2 page spread by either circling them in a JPG and attaching their name or something similar. Thanks!

He-Man.org were kind enough to also send over a visual to assist with this question. Based on this visual, the character labeled "Golden Rod" are generic members of the Viper Squadron, the character labeled "Snow Thief" is actually Goldenrod (Snarrrlll the Snow Thief is above Mosquitor). The two characters behind BlastAttak are Strettch Nek and Vypor.
    Facet
"Since we won be seeing any art of this character, can you tell us what faction he is a member of."
    Toyguru
    "A Snake Men robot."

    2. Niki: The original two vintage Comet Warriors who were chosen to be the SDCC 2013 MOTUC exclusive have opened up another new fraction with in MOTUC. In the mini-comic "Escape From The Slime Pit" two others were featured. A yellow/orange/pink female and a green/silver/blue male. What are their names?

Quartzara ( formerly Pebblass) and Bould-or

    Tufos
Is there a new Lord of Avion Stratos after 'death? who is it?

Yes. Tufos took over after Stratos heroically died during the Second Ultimate Battleground.

Axel concluded that Tufos would look similar to a 200x Stratos

Lord Choloh- from Vykrons bio-Lord of the Vine Jungle

As well as all the 30th anniversary figures

    Draego Man
    The Mighty Spector
    Sir Laser Lot
    Cy-Chop
    Castle Grayskullman

The Defenders of Trolla- Eye Beam, Netta, Compactor, Brainwave, Jet Pack, Man Crystal, Robowomen, Hans Hammer Holder
    defenders of trolla.jpg
The Revenge Squad- Led by Lady Slither, Ra-jar, Three Beast, Bubblor, Major Header and Muckman and I guess to a lessor extent Gangstor
    lady slither.jpg
    revenge squad.jpg
Karsack and Levitha are the two new Cosmic Enforcers, Karsack coming from Equinos, the same species as Sagitar, and Levitha being a female from the same Species as Saurod.
    http://forums.mattycollector.com/eve...7/m/4291054668

    new enforcers.jpg

Counsler Adi, Sayrn, Gorto, and Mendor are all new characters from the DC52 comics
    counsler adi.jpg
    sayrn.jpg
    265956.jpg
    mendor.jpg

Apokiriefa is a new Cosmic Enforcer from the DC Multiverse comics, she has blue armor.
The He-force -He-Sol, Valiant Tina, Plantino, Zak the Cat , He-wo, Hi-ra, He-Skeletor also stem from the dc multiverse comis, although no references come from the classics canon

Despera is kinda of a new character, but not really, just Force Captain Adora

Mo-Larr is new character fighting on the side of evil in the third ubg

Tug o war is now an official character
    tugowar.jpg

Quick Flick is a new snake man

Vikor, Wun-dar, Oo-Lar, Vykron, Green Goddess, Zodak, Demo man, The Fighting Foe men, Red Beast, Joya
    and The Unnamed One
are all technically new characters which somewhat existed before hand, so i guess i would include them as well.

He-ra, Wrap Trap, and Ka are similar to the characters above, unused concept ideas that have been reworked into new characters within the MOTUC Mythos. All we know of Ka is that his face is" hewn on the side of Snake Mtn", so essentially the face of the toy version of snake mtn is Ka head, the rest is unknown. All this information comes from the the dark horse Encyclopedia. Now we do have this awesome custom drawing of snake mtn man( which is essentially Ka)

The Crimson Countess - an ancient vampire who once plagued eterina

Princess Naka-Ra- from Wrap Trap's bio. She-Ra bears a striking resemblance to her.
Asklepia-the good Snake Goddess(based on the DC52 Goddess of Serpos) (as opposed to her evil twin from the Italian comics)
Kaytara - the Silaxian warrior who married Fisto and became the mother of Kay-La.
Hordeous - batlike god-beast. We used the giant bat in DC comics as inspiration, but kind of reimagined it a bit and I named it as Hordeous to distinguish the beast from the more humanoid god, Horokoth.
Sabe-Or - An Ancient based directly on the "Battle Cat Man" concept art from the Dark Horse Art Book.
Saz - named in the Filmation cartoon, but never explored and elaborated upon until Classics. Cat god on par with Serpos and Hordeous, likeness to the cat of Central tower.

First I've heard of Tufos; cool!

They're not mentioned by name, but the scientists who rebuild Cy-Chop are "new." (Unless they're the 4 morons from NA...)

And mentioned in the bio's some where right? I can't remember off hand.

I'm all for introducing brand new and original characters. If you want to call it "expanded" (like Star Wars) I'm fine with that.

it was mentioned by beastman as a normal exclamation "for the beard of cholo". the vykrons bio put him in the actual new characters context.

I'd really like figures if all these.

Tufos has really piqued my interest since I learned about him a few hours ago... Or maybe we already have him-the reversed colors Stratos...?

Oolar is a bit of a gray area... the 'jungle he-man' is long documented and much loved version of the character. Vikor was a sketch on a notepad that nearly nobody saw...

Soooo he was a character before they gave him a name

Aside from CG Man, Draego Man and maybe Cy-Chop, none of these new characters really feel like moving the brand forward to me...
Plus we dont even know what Bandwidth and Red Strip look like.

Honestly... I dont think there really HAS been a lot of 'moving the brand forward' since they introduced the Snake men...

ACTUALLY, the Horde. Snakemen were pretty lame in the 80's. just the 4-5 of them and more of a 'side-faction'. MAYBE King Grayskull was moving the brand in a new direction... The three towers when THEY were introduced... Maybe the idea of a time war and Spector gives new directions...

But really, individual characters aren't going to move a line forward... it's gonna take new ideas and PLOT that will keep the line going.

I know I'm in the minority but I want to see a lot of characters from the Dare era get made. I'm one of those people who just wants to see what evolution He-Man will go trough and how far he and his allies can make it.

Oh do Skeletor's son, King He-Man, and Gygor count as new characters MOTUC introduced?

I'm with you wundarwarrior. I welcome future versions of old characters we love, plus the addition of the next generation. It only makes sense since we're getting figures of past generations right?
I'd like to see more figures in all the eras personally. There's an eternity of potential with this brand, it's what's always been so charming about it. There's room for everything and anything in this line. Pick and choose who you like, it's kind of expected at this point there will be some you won't like, there are some I don't like, but it's always been that way. The ones I do like, I like a lot, and haven't been able to shake them from my mind in 30 years.

Here's a rule a thumb that I use to determin if he/she/it is a new character.

So with that logic I would answer you with yes, yes & no.

Cause before the BGEL bio i don't recall of hearing, reading or seeing a son of skeletor

    Until a King He-Man bio I don't recall of a king He-Man

There are colored sketches and prototypes of Gygor. what we know know as gygor.

Is there a prototype figure? a sketch? if so to either one then no. not a new character.

Wun-Darr and to a degree, the (Green) Goddess as a unique character (the original Goddess was basically an early form of the Sorceress and never really meant to be a completely different character alltogether).
MOTUC Wishlist: Songster, Evil Robot, Tuvar and Badra, Game Master, Grayskull Robot, Andros, Monstroid, the new villains from He-Ro/Dare

for me, I gladly accept things that progress the line. that being said, i personally don't think that King GreySkull does. I loved the creative outlandishness of the original. so saying, "well, picture he-man, but just, its like,,, for a previous generation....." well, that isn't pushing the creative limits at all in my mind. show me Dare, show me things that just might be original, or even outlandish (airbag character).

I love the property, and i think that it is only nature that it has life. but yeah, when i use to write my own stories, King he-man statue stood proud and tall in rememberance of him, and his death, and we see what comes next.

but that opens up alot of conversation, main one being that we are growing up, and i think alot of us, like the idea of things moving along, because we are as well.... its sort of why i believe as i get older, i like DC comics more. i use to be a marvel guy, but i love seeing the generational stuff in DC much more, evolution of Robin, Flash, Speedy, Golden/Silver/Modern age stuff..... it just makes much more sense to me.
