Teela is the best! She was one of my favorite figures.

I'm definitely not on par with these great artists, but I just wanted to share a sketch I was working on with a 200x Teela and Sorceress...61135891_2058081730980824_7107637611740528640_o.jpg

Quite a few are up there, but the silvestri. Technically part of a meet and great package but still way expensive.

That's odd. He's my age and was certainly around when MOTU debuted. Perhaps he just forgot about the characters or never got into MOTU. It would be cool to see some videos of the various artist's processes when working on these great pieces. I met Marc Silvestri at my LCS awhile back and Reilly Brown last year at the NJ Collector Fest. They are some cool, talented guys.

What an absolutely fantastic thread to peruse. Thanks for sharing! I think the one by Ryan Stegman is my favorite. "Teela Unleashed". :-D

Hopefully you'll get one by Sara Pichelli. I like her style for women and I don't believe she's ever drawn Teela.

Thanks. Yeah, I haven't come across her at any local cons I attend. Maybe someday

Is that how you're getting all these commissions? By meeting the artists in person and having them do the drawing right there on the spot?

Some are home commissions if they do them. Some are commissions they'll do if they're attending a con, and some are done at the con. I'd say the majority are commissions/pre commissions for cons
For example the silvestri one was at a con. I don't usually see them draw at the con. They probably draw in their hotel room or something or in quieter moments when they're not attending any fans
If there was a particular piece you were wondering if from home or a con I could tell you. Thanks

Holy crap I didn't even notice that you had a Silvestri until just now, I must have skimmed right past it, lol. He's one of my all time favorite comic artists. How long ago did he do that one for you?

I assume that you always specify that you'd like Filmation Teela and not toy or comic version?

The majority of the time on home commissions ones I send reference and ask for filmation hair as that's iconic to me but costume details from the classics since filmation was obviously not that detailed.
As far as the silvestri it was part of a package that included 5 free sigs a 1 hr roundtable meet and greet and was fairly expensive. I was at a con last month on Boston

That Emanuela Luppachino one is RIDICULOUSLY gorgeous and well done. Are you keeping these in a binder, or planning on framing them?

Unfortunately most in a binder do need to frame some eventually. But noticed a good frame job is very expensive

It definitely can be. I'm a custom picture framer and woodworker, so at my little shop I do sometimes see that look of shock when it comes time to quote a job. True conservation and design adds up. Just avoid that temptation to go to places like Michael's where they emphasize speed over quality and care. Your art is better off safe and pristine in a binder versus the sort of horrible outcomes I've seen coming out of there.
