Adult Swim had a Festival this year that I didn't know anything about, but now it's up on the Roku Channel. Last night we watched the Dethklok segment and it was pretty awesome (if you can ignore the ads that played after every two songs, ruining the flow of the experience). To this day, both of their albums help keep me alert on super long drives. Since YouTube doesn't seem to have most of the original music videos anywhere, here's the 2019 version of the concert:

Played this during my stay at Shangri-La hotel in Kota Kinabalu, it was an epic jam while being completely relax in the room alone on an Alarm Bluetooth speaker. Gotta say I didn't leave my room at all listening to my own music on loud bluetooth speaker.

The Great Debate - Dream Theater.

I love Jonathan Groff's rendition of Moon River.

Tribute to Loretta Lynn, perfect cover by Paramore. Gotta say Paramore is too generic to me but she sure do have the country voice.
Hayley Williams - You Ain't Woman Enough (To Take My Man).

Went to the Upsahl concert with my wife last week and we had a blast!
The opening act was King Mala who was new to both of us, but we liked. Her stuff isn't groundbreaking on any level, but it's fun and catchy which is totally valid!
This one's my favorite... the tune has haunted me to this day.
Another one with a pretty catchy tune...
This one's cute... the lyrics and allegories on this one are super thin, but it's fine. Really dig the video tho.
This one didn't catch me right off, but I really like the video... so in the process, it's growing on me.

Still listening to a lot of King Mala and she was matched well with Upsahl as you can totally hear their similar themes and inspirations.
Going deeper into her catalogue, I discovered this song which is probably the most technically complicated and rich song I've heard from her sonically and lyrically:
I was trying to figure out where I heard similar musical tones before and I think this Dua Lipa song is it...
Going back to that Upsahl connection, this song also has similar musical tones...
For similar subject matter...
Her music also shares a lot with Melanie Martinez
And as a bonus, this Mala song has a similar theme.

Friday October 21 is the birthday of Charlotte Caffey from The Go-Go's and The Graces so here's a celebration for this fabulous singer-songwriter, lead guitarist and keyboard player.

Neil Sedaka - Oh Car..... I mean Smokey Bannett - Flames of Love.

Been listening to some John Denver lately, mainly because of an OC I imagine singing like him.
As good as 'Country Roads, Take Me Home' and 'Rocky Mountain High' are, I'll not list them because they're the two most obvious songs.
Also, this thing gets me pumped up.
Felt a little nostalgic, so I put on some old Static-X while in traffic the other day. I used to see them a lot back in my college days and with the passing of Wayne, I figured that this musical chapter had come to an end.
A few of my faves:
In 2019 the rest of the band did a reunion tour that I skipped out on and after hearing how good it was, I regretted it. Turns out they're still making new music and touring.
So we might have to look into this one. Hopefully my wife will get on board as she doesn't usually gel with some of their harsher tones.

Agreed! When this was first announced, I really had my doubts. But as time has gone on it all seems to have been done very respectfully and with all the due quality.

Last night's drive solidified that I need a lot of new music ASAP. I have lists of albums over the past 5ish years that I've been meaning to get around to and haven't. I need to make more time to prioritize that.
A new Upsahl dropped a few days ago. Fun stuff, but I wasn't really in a pop music mode last night to fully appreciate it. So I'll go back to it later.
A few nights ago, the Lost in Vegas guys did this video...
My wife loves this song and had fond memories for it. My reaction was similar to the guys and I hated the first 2/3s of the song.
So we went down a Led Zeppelin rabbit hole, starting with one I love from them:
A few more of the ones I was okay with...
