I was just thinking a few weeks back that it was past time for a new Panic! album. I was looking for something else and happened upon a new Panic! single. Digging a bit deeper, there's three out and the new album will be released on the 19th!

First listen, this felt very rockabilly and very pop. I didn't hate it and it has a catchy melody, but I expected more.

This was the best of the three for me, but I think I thought that mostly because of the video. I like Brendon's visual sensibilities.

This was the worst of the three to me. Honestly I kinda tuned out on this one.

Now I did know there was a new Slipknot album coming this year, so I checked and found they had two singles out...

This was fine... nothing new or groundbreaking. I'm sure it'll grow on me.

Out of the five, this was my jam!!! Yes, nothing really new was introduced... and the melody is a mix of a few previous Slipknot songs. But it felt SO GOOD to rock out to!

I'm looking forward to upcoming new releases from Amy Grant, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Gretchen Peters & Susan Cowsill this year, and Belinda Carlisle next year so I am listening to them in delightful preparation.

Very nice! Do they all have album release dates available or are you still waiting on a few?

I don't know exactly when Belinda's album will be released, but the other's I've mentioned are due for a September/October release.

Cool deal, sounds like you are going to have a great September/October for new music! Yeah, there's always that one announcement latecomer!

In honour of Olivia Newton-John, here is a fabulous song performed by her, Beth Nielsen Chapman and Amy Sky called Stone In My Pocket.

Been listening to lots of stuff, but things got pretty busy for a while there and I neglected to update here. Let's see if I can fit them into one post...

This is the most recent song I heard...

    Rick Ross was completely forgettable.
Wayne was pretty good (as he tends to be on someone else's track).
Jay slaughtered this one. Every word, every line, every pocket was completely on point. Worth the listen for his bars alone!!!

I wasn't a fan of this at all. Kanye can be hit or miss and this was just another miss. Usually Em can elevate anything, but this was a fail IMHO.
Listen to make up your own mind, but lowered expectations might help your enjoyment of this track.

Looks like this was dropped around this time last year and I somehow missed it.
The song was s'right. Nothing spectacular, but nothing I hated.
The video was a fun homage to the Blood Rave intro in Blade.

Megan's "Traumazine" album is out and I listened to it on the day, but that was a while back so I've forgotten most of my thoughts on it. Half of it was fine and the other half was s'right.

Another fun video and the lyrics were decent, but the chorus is uninspired and nearly ruins the song for me. I personally hate when the same word is repeated over and over and over again.
This video was my second listen to the song and I realized that my friend Viktor would possibly like it and how well it would work at like a drag show. So although this one wasn't particularly made for me, I get the club goal.

This was an interesting attempt and kinda fun in moments, but it didn't hit as hard as Game wanted it to. And judging by the very low album sales, it seems like I'm not the only one who thought this.
I wonder if Em will respond anyway or if he'll just let this pass?

Last night I finally listened to Panic's whole "Viva Las Vengeance" album...

Turns out, I actually like this title track... it wasn't just the video.

This isn't the greatest song, but it's decent.

I really enjoyed this video... the song itself, I kept going back and forth on. I'll have to try it again later.

    A decent ending track.

Out of 12 songs on this album, I really liked 1 and kinda liked 3. Not a good ratio at all. I just didn't connect with the Rockabilly/Grease sensibilities and themes this project seemed to be aiming for.

I'm out on this album. Hopefully in a few years I'll connect better to the next Panic! project. Until then, I still have the previous two albums to fully enjoy!

I have to admit I actually love the opening musical scene with Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw) singing Anything Goes (in Chinese) from Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom.

    - - - Updated - - -

I also love this video of adorable and talented Jonathan Groff singing and dancing to Anything Goes live on stage.

I think this song is permanently stuck in my head now.
"Tell me I am beautiful - it means nothing to me. Tell me I am intellectual - well, I know it already. Tell me I am funny however, and that is the greatest compliment in the world that anyone can give me".

Been kinda busy, so I've neglected to adding the random stuff I've been listening to. Let's see if I can do some quick highlights...

This Kendrick song and video are super powerful, but deals with a lot of rough and adult subject matter. But like the best art, although it can be challenging, it holds up a mirror to the human condition and allows you to form your own opinion on how to improve situations like this (or stop them from happening). Trigger warning for gaslighting, verbal abuse, harsh language, and sexual depictions at the end.

Enjoyable on two levels, the song is a bop and the video is beautiful (mostly because Meg is so beautiful).

Once again, Coast Contra shows how talented and creative they are. You will have to listen multiple times to catch all of the creative wordplay. On this song, their ODB influences really shines.

I didn't care for this one when it started, but the beat is catchy and if you push aside the generic chorus the lyrics have gems in spots.

Radiohead was a band I always intended to do a deeper dive on, but never got around to. "Creep" was good back in the day and it still holds up decently today. This one wasn't for me. I can see the band's music signatures comparing it to "Creep," but this song doesn't have the same edge to make it special.

A Gorgeous Go-Go and a Beautiful Bangle - Belinda Carlisle & Susanna Hoffs performing Our Lips Are Sealed together.

"Tell me I am beautiful - it means nothing to me. Tell me I am intellectual - well, I know it already. Tell me I am funny however, and that is the greatest compliment in the world that anyone can give me".

The Lost in Vegas guys had their first listen to Garbage with "Stupid Girl." As my wife and I are huge fans, it was cool seeing them dig the song. So now would be a good time to share a few of my faves...
